With Buffalo St. losing tonight Geneseo can clinch 1st place with 1 win in their last 2 games. Only Oswego still with a slim possibility.

Ya gotta love the 'Yac.

Fredonia sweeps season series from Buff State (which is 9-2 over last 11, only losses to devils).

Bears get smoked in Cortland, then come back and beat Dragons on senior night.

Sorry I'm gonna be away for the playoffs.

P.S.  Dex - you need to start the Jessica Laing AA drive for the women, she's a tremendous player.

Back and forth early 2nd half with 42 all tie at the 15:51 mark. Red Dragons go on 11-0 run to take control. Stretch lead to as much as 18 and coast home.
Michael Grimes was the game's high scorer leading the Red Dragons with 23 pts on 10x14 shooting. Ryan Morin added 18 pts on 8x15 fgs, and Maurice Lane had 10 pts on 4x6 fgs along with 7 rebounds. Magic- Thanks for the info regarding my Eagles--I think they are going to win their final games this weekend vs. Cortland and Geneseo. They lost by 8 at Cortland and have had two nailbiters against Geneseo. That should be an exciting Senior night game for the guys. If they beat Cortland on Friday that will be a huge incentive for Saturday--They control their own destiny!!!Do it Eagles---Scooter in Florida heading to the golf course--Enjoy the weather up their boys!!!

jdex,

I needed your Cortland boys to take care of Brockport tonight. What happened? Now I'm sweatin bullets that Geneseo can take care of the Eagles tomorrow night.

jdex

Just typical Cortland game this season. No surprise here ......Brockport senior night. Wilkes & Co. light it up from outside. As mentioned Corts without injured W. Coston and Niehoff fires at 2x13ft clip

jdex or bear help me out here,

A week ago I said the top 5 teams could all end up 11-5. That's not going to happen but if Geneseo loses tomorrow night at  Brockport, then there will be 4 teams tied at 11-5. Head to head doesn't work since Oneonta beat Buff St. Geneseo beat Oswego and Oneonta, Oswego beat Oneonta twice, Buff St beat Geneseo and Oswego twice. So I'm thinking it's whoever has the best record against the other three teams they are tied with. Geneseo is 3-1 against the other 3 teams and Buff St is 3-1 against the other 3 teams. Oswego is 2-4 and Oneonta is 1-3. Would that leave just Geneseo and Buff St.?  And since Buff St owns a win in the only game against Geneseo, then Buff St. would win the regular season crown.  This is crazy!!!

thebear

My preferred scenario would be for Geneseo to  beat Brockport and solve the equation, and insure that the Cards get the #8 spot.

Cards must be wary of NP, gave the Bears quite the Tussle.  Short on manpower since 3 key mid-season losses, but very athletic and scrappy.

The permutations & combinations of a four way tie make my head hurt!

Magicman,

I think you're partially correct on your analysis. In a four-way tie, if I remember correctly, you first look at head-to-head vs. all the tied teams. This puts Geneseo and Buffalo St. each at 3-1, like you mentioned.

However, I don't think you go back to head-to-head once two teams are pulled out from the first step. You continue on with the next step, which is how did teams do vs. each team down the list (in this case, starting with #5, then #6, etc.). I think Geneseo wins this regardless of whether #5 is just Fredonia (if they beat Cortland today) or if #5 is a combination of Fredonia-Potsdam-Cortland (if Cortland wins at Fredonia).

Again, my analysis is totally unofficial - I'm just doing this off the top of my head after reading the tiebreaker rules a few days ago. The league will obviously announce the official pairings once the smoke clears. But from what I can tell, we're looking at 1) Gen, 2) Buff St., 3) Oswego and 4) Oneonta regardless of the Geneseo-Brockport outcome today.

The Eagles have completed half the solution to getting into the playoffs--If they can't get enough momentum from Senior night with all those Seniors making contributions I will be extremely disappointed. Do it Eagles--Good luck

Scooter.
Eagles job got a lot tougher with Geneseo losing last night. From articles I read today Geneseo needs to win tonight to claim #1 seed. If they had clinched last night they wouldn't have anything to play for against your Eagles this evening. Also, jdex said that last night was Brockport's Senior Night. I hope he was right. ;)

Plattsburgh St. defeats host New Paltz 57-54. Awaits outcome of Geneseo- Brockport game to see if they get the 8th seed.
