" the real season starts next weekend when we travel to Buffalo for the first of 16 remaining conference games."

Truer words have never been spoken! Yes indeed the SUNYAC season is about to get into full bloom. I must say that I too have been impressed with the Cards this year. If ever there was a way to get my beloved Bengals out of thier slump then this Friday, against Plattsburgh, could do the trick.

Yesterdays game vs Hobart was a truly tough loss. Missing 13 free throws (20 of 33) didn't help much either! A monster game, vs Hobart, from T. O. Jackson 25 pts/17 boards coupled with a "near" Double Double from his front court mate "Tone" Samedi 10 points/9 boards and 5 blocks... bodes well for the BENGALS and their ability to slow down Daniyan/S. Thomas (who combine for over 33 points and 13.5 Boards a game this season.)

Looking forward to talking to you, magicman, afterwards!! If you are making the journey then let me know and I'll buy the wings at the Anchor Bar afterwards! ;)

Bengalsrule,

Thanks for the offer, but the trip to Buffalo is about 250 miles outside of my travel range to see a game. Your Bengals have been in a slump since their opening day win but they have been competitive in every game they've played. They could very easily be sitting with a 4-2 record right now istead of 1-5. I hope you understand when I say I'd like their slump to continue just a little longer. After that they can win a ton of conference games. The Cardinals are favored Friday night but as we saw last year in the YAC that doesn't mean much. Six hour bus trips have a way of evening things out.  Still, I think the Cards come away with the win 80-72.

Great assesment of the BENGALS first 6 games, and potential for a 4-2 record, there magicman!! A 3 point loss @ Fredonia (after being up by 15 in the second half with less than 9 minutes to play), 2 point loss to @ CCNY (after being up by 20) and 2 point loss this week @ Hobart (with 5 missed free throws in the last 57 seconds of regulation). I am hoping that playing in the familiar confines of the "Arena" will help us in this big home SUNYAC opener tonite against your Cardinals!

We have got to keep Ruiz under 16 points ( last year he averaged 20 Plus in 2 games..both BENGAL WINS)! Coupled with the fact that he and Daniyan were the only Cards to score in double digits in both contests last year, makes them the 2 Cards that first come to mind. However this Steve Thomas guy worries me. Having lead the Cards in Scoring 4 times and rebounding once (and at 6'2" that must not have been easy) he looks like the "X" factor for tonites game!

Too bad you could not make it here Magicman. Anchor Bar Wings are the best in the NATION
(at least that what they say)! Maybe we will run into each other on the 6th at Memorial hall. Saturdays in Buffalo are pretty slow so a 6 hour drive could be a great alternative to watching snowfall in Buffalo!

I'm predicting 76-71 BENGALS!

Big win for the Bengals tonight to get back on the winning track. Fans certainly got their money's worth as these teams went at it from the opening buzzer to the end of overtime. The largest lead by either team occured right after the start of the 2nd half when the Bengals, who went into the break up by 3, hit back to back 3 pointers to open a 9 pt advantage at 48-39. Plattsburgh responded with a 10-2 run and back and forth play continued. The game featured 20 lead changes and 16 ties before the Bengals finally prevailed. Tied at 83 T. O. Jackson gets a tradional 3 pt play to give the Bengals a lead they wouldn't give up.
Buffalo St placed 5 guys in double figures. Jake Simmons 24 pts (10x17 fg, 4x7 3's,1x3 ft), Glenroy Carr double-double 20 pts (7x14 fg, 1x1 3.s 5x6 ft) and 10 rebounds. T.O. Jackson 18 pts (8x15 fg, 2x3 ft) also had 8 boards and 6 assts. Antonio Samedi with 12 pts (5x10 fg, 2x7 ft) and Norman Simmons added 11 pts (4x9 fg, 2x2 3's 1x3 ft). Bengals shot 50.7% from the field 36x71 with 70% beyond the arc 7x10 and 11x21 from the line and grabbed 38 rebounds. Bengals up their mark to 2-5 overall 1-1 in the SUNYAC

Cardinals lose their 2nd in a row on the road this week and fall to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference. They also have 5 guys in double figures led by Chris Ruiz's double-double of 23 pts (9x20 fg, 1x5 3's 4x6 ft), and 11 rebounds. Errol Daniyan 20 pts (9x12 fg, 2x3 ft with 8 rebounds. Steve Thomas also with double-double with 18 pts (5x18fg 1x7 3's 7x8 ft) and 11 boards. Danny Tangney added 11 pts (4x8 fg, 2x4 3's 1x2 ft) and R. J. Ponesse with 10 pts (4x9 fg, 2x3 ft) aand 7 rebounds. Ketema Brooks added 5 pts, 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Cardinals 32x76 from the field (42.1%) 4x19 3's (21.1%) 19x26 free throws (73.1%). Plattsburgh won the battle of the boards 52x38 but to no avail.

Bengals look for and will probably get weekend sweep as they host winless in conference Potsdam State tomorrow at 4 PM.

Cardinals travel to Fredonia looking to give Blue Devils their 1st SUNYAC loss also at 4 PM tomorrow.
