Friends  Could you give a shout-out if a 10-11 roster gets posted?  Thanks!

Thanks to Oswego, Brockport and Plattsburgh for some 10-11 rosters, so far.

Plattsburgh State tops the East Region teams in the D3hoops Top 25 Preseason men's poll, that was released earlier today. The Cardinals receive 126 points and check in at #22. No other East region team cracked the top 25. The other Cardinals, St John Fisher, was the next East region team mentioned as they received 9 points in the others receiving votes category. SUNYIT also received 7 points and NYU got 2 points.

Here's the link to the complete poll: http://d3hoops.com/top25/

Plattsburgh State's complete roster showing the 5 new Freshman recruits has now been posted. Here's the link:

Had a chance to watch the team during an intra-squad scrimmage a couple of nights ago and the freshmen looked pretty good. Cardinals will lose 8 seniors off this year's team so it was imperative for Coach Curle to go out and get a decent group of recruits. It looks like he's done just that. Will need to do the same thing again next year.
6'10" senior RJ Ponesse looked good in the scrimmage. He's slimmed down, gotten stronger and showed off a nice shooting touch from 12' to 15'. Looks like he'll get a chance to start this year.

Chris Ruiz, 6'4" senior guard and 2 time 1st team All Conference selection, was just named to the DIII News Preseason All-America Team. Ruiz led the SUNYAC in scoring last year with a 17.2 average. He won a number of awards last season and I'm hoping D3hoops is considering him for their preseason All American awards as well.

The Cardinals will open up their season on the road against Lyndon St. College on Monday Nov. 15th. They will then head downstate to participate in the Manhattanville Castle Classic and face a tough Western Connecticut State team on Friday Nov 19th.  Western Connecticut is one of the favorites to win the Little East Conference.  The winner of that game will face off against the winner of the Manhattanville/Wheelock contest on Saturday afternoon Nov. 20th.

Watch out for my Eagles--New look and very athletic--Going to cause some SUNYAC teams some problems--And of course a great staff to steer them in the right direction!! Go Eagles

Potsdam Roster is Posted.

http://www.potsdam.edu/athletics/teams/mensbasketball/roster.cfm

8 returnees
6 freshmen
1 transfer

Newcomers bring some interior size, which was in short supply last year.

Enter the season with a 2 game win streak to build on.

Reason for optimism.  Still think that Plattsburgh, Brockport & Oswego are the teams to beat.

Potsdam transfer Drysdale is from St Joe's (NAIA) Vermont, where he was a solid 2 year player. HS ball at NYC Frederick Douglass, coached by great Pat Mangan.

bear,
How tall are those newcomers? Roster gives no height or weight. Hope they're all 6'4" and up. Brockport added some needed height to go with all those havoc raising guards. The Bears needed to do the same. Potsdam gave Plattsburgh all they could handle last year even with no size. Agree that the above teams you mention are ones to watch out for but Buff State and New Paltz should be tough as well. Looks like it will again be a typical SUNYAC slugfest.

Actually Rob Duquette from Peru is one of the newbies, well known in your parts, and looks ready to play college ball, he definitely knows where the weight room is. 6-5 or so.

Drysdale is 6-4 or 6-5, Colin Peterson from Hilton is 6-7, skilled, but needs some bulk.

With everyone dropping down 1 or 2 positions, Bears should be much improved.  For first time since 04-05 Elite 8 year, we appear to have decent depth in the paint.

I agree, Plattsburgh with 4 all-conference players + Ponesse is the favorite.  They should be able to compete with any D-III team out there.

Once again the rest of the SUNYAC will beat up on each other.  Fredonia may also be a sleeper, 9 newcomers, including a bunch of jucos.

We open with our traditional exhibition against 15-1 Algonquin on Monday night.  They are VERY athletic.

thebear...I was wondering where you saw the 2010-2011 Fredonia roster? I just looked at thier website and (as they traditionally do) Fredonia still had the 2009-2010 roster posted. That roster included at least 9 underclassmen.

Just curious to see what they have going for this year!

P.s. After beating up on Sheridan College (Canadian team - exhibition) last Friday, the BENGALS
get a much sterner test at D-1 Canisius College tommorrow (Tuesday) night. A little sidelight to that game will be the Simmons brothers doing battle againest each other.

The BENGALS Jake Simmons (SUNYACs' reigning "Rookie of the year" and 4th leading scorer last season) will face-off against his brother Tomas Vasquez - Simmons (Canisius #2 scorer and leading rebounder from last season).

Get your popcorn ready ;)

2010-11 Fredonia Roster is up, has been since last week.

Sometimes you have to hit refresh on your browser to clear the cache.

They have 18 listed on the roster, Including 10 names that don't appear on the 09-10 stats, 7 of them juniors.

Good luck against the Griffins, though they appear to have size and athleticism to spare.
