Congratulations to the Lakers and Coach Stockwell.  Wins in Brockport are always hard to come by especially with first place in the league riding.  A truly important and excellent early conference win.  Magic your percentage of correct guesses this weekend must have been amazing.  I can see only one miss (Cortland win) in all of your predictions (and that includes the LL).  Pretty soon they won't have to play the games - everyone will just let Magicman decide. hehheh ;D

with age,
I did have a good weekend  of prognostication. 12 of 13 between the YAC and the Liberty League. What else is there to do when it reaches 15 below outside. ???

Saturday results:

Oswego 74 Brockport 71
They both scored a handful more than my 68-64 guess, but I got the winner and the MOV was pretty close.

Potsdam 78 Fredonia 69
I had the Bears winning 72-69. 4 free throws in a row with 30 seconds left by Bears J. McAllister thanks to a Freds foul and T or I woulda been uncannily close ;D

Plattsburgh 80 Buffalo St. 76
I figured a few more points with my 87-83 score and if those zebras had let em play instead of blowing their whistles every 30 seconds, they would have hit my totals. Worst crew alll year. 50 fouls were called but at least they were evenly split. Needed every tenth of a second to get my 4 point margin of victory and Carl Munnerlyn making those last 2 free throws with 2 tenths of a second on the clock made my day.       Thanks Carl. 8-)

Cortland 73  Geneseo 61
My only miss as I gave the nod to the home team Blue Knights 76-71, but even so I had 3 of the 4 numbers correct- 7--6--1. :D  I Should have listened to jdex when he said not to discount his Cortland team even without 2 key performers.

Oswego and Plattsburgh were only teams to have 2-0 week.

The updated standings after this weekend's action:

1.   Oswego         7-1
2.   Plattsburgh     6-2
3.   Brockport       5-3      Holds tiebreaker over New Paltz
4.   New Paltz      5-3
5.   Oneonta        4-4      Holds tiebreaker over Buff St. and Potsdam
6.   Buffalo St.      4-4      Holds tiebreaker over Potsdam
7.   Potsdam         4-4
8.   Fredonia         2-6      Holds tiebreaker over Cortland
9.   Cortland         2-6
10  Geneseo         1-7

It was indeed a pleasure to meet Bengalsrule. It's nice to be able to put a face to a name. I only wish we had more time to chat but I'm hoping for a return visit if and when the Cards host the SUNYAC playoffs. ;) ;D I also didn't make the Jr.-Sr. connection until later when I returned home. 8-) That's a discussion that could last a while. :)
Bengalsrule, I do have 1 very big request though and I'm sure you can pull it off. Next Friday when you play a certain 1st place team in their house make sure they know what payback is like. :D ;D Even if they lose to New Paltz on Tuesday (a distinct possibility) they will still be in 1st place when you take them on. Good luck and hope you end up in 2nd place in the SUNYAC race.

Magic..this week will truly be the "week of Paybacks". In 2 days we face Brockport which sent us on our merry way last year with a overtime loss in the 1st round of the SUNYACs ( as did Saturdays opponent - Cortland did in 09). Friday nights game vs Oswego will be our first 2010-11 payback for their rude treatment of us at our place last month  (with a overtime loss to them). Hopefully we can pay that kind deed back on Friday.

"Jr.-Sr." I get that a lot ;)

Nothing like putting me on the spot. ???  Line for the Packers game is Green Bay -3 1/2
and the over under is 421/2    I like the Packers and the under.

The line on the Jets game is  Pittsburgh -4 and the over under is 38.  I like the Jets and the over.  I wouldn't bet the farm on any of them though. ;D

Not bad magicman . 3 out of 4 on the playoffs/Over-under. Too bad you didnt like the Steelers or you would have been perfect!

I liked the Steelers to win, just felt it would be a 3 point game. With the spread I had to take the Jets. I did alright as I bet 4 parleys and won 2 of them.

Jets played real stupid in the 4th quarter. With 57 seconds left in the 3rd quarter the Steelers punted and the Jets took over on their own 19 yard line. At that point in the game the Jets were down 24-10. I would think there would be a little urgency in their play calling, along with a little speed getting up after the play, quickly huddling up (or go no huddle) and hustling up to the line of scrimmige. They marched down the field on a drive, that after 12 plays, found them with a 1st and goal from the 2 yard line. They used over 7 minutes to get to that point and spent 30 to 45 seconds between every play. That's just plain stupid clock management. On 1st down they tried to run it in, gained a yard, and then spent all kinds of time deciding what play to run on 2nd down. Sanchez even left the huddle, ran almost to the sideline to get the play and then ran back to the huddle, gave the play to the team, lined up and barely got the play off before the play clock expired. The whole team, especially Sanchez, was so out of synch, that it was no surprise when he rolled out to his right and threw it at the feet of Keller, the intended reciever. A time out would probably have been a smart call there. Instead of wasting a down as they did, you could avoid being rushed, talk things over and call a couple of plays in case you didn't get in on 2nd down. On 3rd down they tried a pass to the right again, that was batted down at the line and on 4th down the old run up the gut that was stuffed. They managed to use a total of 8:06 and came away with no points. That was the ballgame right there. The ensuing safety and subsequent touchdown after the free kick still left them needing a TD with less than 3 minutes left to play and the Steelers with the ball. What was even more amazing to me was after the safety they got the ball back on the free kick with 7:38 left in the game down 24-12 and still needing 2 touchdowns. They ran 5 plays, used another 2 minutes and 43 seconds of clock and THEN decided to go to a no huddle offense. Had they scored when they were on the 1 yard line earlier or just went to a no huddle at the start of the 4th quarter, there would have been plenty of time to get the tying or go ahead score. Jets coaching staff lost this game 15 minutes before it ended. :(& :o

with age came?

You know I think I am going to "consult" Magic before every bet I make!!!  "Jimmy the Greek" got nuthin on the Magicman!!

Stevens has a 6-2 record on the road , while Hartwick is 6-2 at home and has to be the biggest surprise in the E8 this year. The Hawks have also gotten a lift with the mid-season return of last year's leading scorer Mark Blazek. Should be a close one in the Binder Center tonight, but Hartwick, stilll sky high from their win at Ithaca, should prevail 72 -69.

Here's Tuesday night's games

Cortland State  @   Oneonta State      8:00 PM LS
Battle of the Red Dragons. Hard to believe Cortland will win 2 conference road games in a row. I'm taking the Red Dragons 74-66---the Oneonta variety.

Oswego State   @   New Paltz State      8:00 PM
New Paltz is undefeated at home in SUNYAC play. Oswego has a 7-1 road record and that loss was to Oneonta by 2 points. The Hawks love an up tempo game, but the Lakers can play that way also as evidenced by their 95-83 win over Ithaca. I'd love to see New Paltz win but I think Oswego takes this one 77-72.

Brockport State  @    Buffalo State      8:00 PM
Buffalo St. looking for revenge as the Golden Eagles ended their season last year with a 68-67 overtime defeat of the Bengals in the SUNYAC tournament. Buffalo State wins a thriller 76-73

Geneseo State  @    Fredonia State      8:00 PM
Battle for the Bottom. I've seen both teams and Fredonia played a better game against the Cardinals than Geneseo did so I'll take the Blue Devils over the Blue Knights, 68-65.

magicman 3 out of 4 again????. Time to head to Vegas ;)

Oneonta betters Cortland 67-61 in bizarre contest in which OState before capacity crowd lit up visitors to the tune of 43-24 halftime blues. Then CState's J. Winter led revival from 21 point deficit with 18 minutes left. Corts actually took 61-60 lead on J. Smith layup at 1:50. OState quickly righted on D. Hahn layup. Hahn, B. Talbot and S. Gillette free throws over final 54 ticks sealed the deal. A strange one!! Hahn 14 pts, 15 rebs; Talbot 17 pts, 7 of team's 10 assts; Gillette 14 pts. Winter finishes with 23 pts, 5 assts. Viewed opening half via Oneonta teevee and saw quite the ugly Cortland show till then ...........Span must've lit a fire but his crew didn't finish ......

Buffalo St. 78, Brockport 66

Geneseo 72, Fredonia 68

Oswego 81, New Paltz 70

How about 5 for 5 including Hartwick's 72-68 win over Stevens .........time for the testing to begin.

Oswego with no trouble. Holds 42-31 lead at half and margin to 19 about 10 minutes later. New Paltz does get within six at 1:05 before four B. Gebhardt free throws provide Lakers lift. H. Ward 16 pts, 14 rebs, 4 blks for OState. C. Burridge 22 pts; S. Michele 6 assts. NP S. Taylor 21 pts, 8 rebs

Buffalo State in 32-18 halftime command and zooms to 28 point margin in second half. J. Simmons 30 pts(10x20fg, 5x9 3s); J. Mitchell 13 pts, 9 rebs. Bport's G. Williams 23 pts

Geneseo and Fredonia locked at 32 through 20 minutes and remain tight till late Gens spurt. M. Hoy 18 pts -- all in the final period. R. Riefenhauser 15 pts(7x10fg), 7 rebs, 4 assts; J. Jones 14 pts. Freds A. Smith 21 pts(10x15fg), 7 rebs; J. Herrera 8 assts, 8 pts

jdex

Ah, yes .......Blue Devils he said. Magic indeed blue! Hold the testing ......but 4-of-5 taint bad .....
