More precincts reporting .......Magic touch a bit less in LL .... 1-1

Yeah I'm slipping. Only 5 of 7 overall tonight. Hartwick-Stevens , Geneseo-Fredonia , Clarkson-SLU, Brockport -Buffalo St and Oswego-New Platz were all tough games to handicap. Not surprised that Geneseo beat Freds, as I went back and forth on that one for quite a while. Finally just threw up my hands and went with the home team. SLU losing at home to Clarkson does surprise me a bit. Saw both teams in person earlier and Saints are the better team. But Knights with less talent, have a lot of heart, hustle, and good outside shooters. Also with loss of Clarkson's big guy and Saints coming off good win against Skidmore, Larries seemed to be the right choice. I now think they are the most inconsistent team in the East.

with age came?

Anyone surprised that Oswego did not at least get a mention in the top 25 rankings. Had good wins and already own a win over Ithaca and all losses were nailbiters.  Just thought they should a least get a vote or two.

You need to check out the Poster's Poll on the multi-Regional topic board.

#36 is Oswego getting 3 points for my vote at #23 and #38 is Hobart getting 1 point for my vote at #25. I'm hoping that if Oswego wins all their games this week they'll be 14-3 and that might get them a mention in the next real poll. Part of their problem is they've played less games than just about everyone else, so the voters are looking at them with a record of 11-3 and comparing them to teams that have 14, 15, or 16 wins. Hobart did get a mention this week and if they keep winning they'll move up.

Carl Munnerlyn a senior guard for Plattsburgh State was named as the SUNYAC player of the week for the 2nd time this season. Carl is the only 2 time winner this year.

SUNYAC write up:
Carl Munnerlyn (Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie) came off the bench to lead the Cardinals with an 18.0 scoring average, as Plattsburgh went 2-0 in SUNYAC play. He tied his career-high of 23 points vs. Buffalo State to top all scorers, including 10-of-10 at the free throw line. He sank six attempts in the final 1:22 to seal the 80-76 win as the Cardinals shot 78.6 from the charity stripe. Munnerlyn shot 43 percent from the arc, 45 from the floor and 87.5 from the charity stripe over the two-game span as Plattsburgh moved into sole possession of second place in the SUNYAC standings

Top performers for this week so far

Jake Simmons making a bid to also become a 2 time winner with a huge game for Buffalo State last night against Brockport. Jake scored 30 points on 10x20 from the field, 5x9 from long distance, and 5x6 from the line. He also added 5 rebounds, 3 steals and a block in 35 minutes

Chad Burridge was the game's leading scorer in the Laker's win at New Paltz. Chad scored 23 points(8x17 fg, 1x2 3's, 5x6 ft) with 6 rebounds and 4 blocked shots in 33 minutes

Shareef Taylor led the Hawks in a losing effort with 21 points (10x17 ft 0x2 3's 1x1 ft) with 8 rebounds in 30 minutes.

Brockport's Gerald Williams scored 23 in the loss at Buffalo State. He was 7x18 from the field 2x8 from long range and 7x8 from the line in 37 minutes

Friday Night's SUNYAC games:

Fredonia State   @   Cortland State      8:00 PM
Can the Red Dragons win at home tonight and escape the cellar? Can Fredonia win on the road? Answers: Yes and No. Cortland takes it 67-63

Potsdam State  @    New Paltz State      8:00 PM
New Paltz looking for revenge, will have too much firepower for the Bears. Hawks roll 81-69.

Geneseo State  @    Brockport State      8:00 PM
Can't believe Geneseo can win 2 road games in a row. Can't believe Brockport will lose 3 straight conference games. Golden Eagles prevail 76-67

Buffalo State   @   Oswego State      8:00 PM
Can the Bengals upset the Lakers on the road? They already lost to Oswego in Buffalo back on December 4th. Lakers have won 5 in a row. Last time they won 5 in a row, they got upset by St. Lawrence trying to go for 6.  I think Buff State pays them back and wins a tight one 79-77.

Plattsburgh State   @   Oneonta State      8:00 PM
Cardinals have won 7 straight over the Red Dragons. Tonight they make it eight. Plattsburgh wins 78-71.

Wouldn't you know. I'm getting live stats for every SUNYAC game except the one I want the most. Can't get my Cardinals taking on Oneonta. Live stats page for the game comes up showing Plattsburgh and Oneonta, with a score of 67-61 game over, but it's actually the final of the Oneonta and Cortland  game from this past Tuesday. Come on Oneonta get your act together and show us the right game.

I guess you just have to ask. 30 seconds after my post complaining about the incorrect live stats coming from Oneonta, the correct live stats for the Plattsburgh-Oneonta game flahed up on the screen. ThankYou! Thank You! Thank You!
