Looks like Oswego lost to St.Lawrence... 66-62... according to Oswego web site... otherwise great night for the YAC!

Hey the Bears break the losing streak against Utica College as they down the Pioneers in Utica 72-67.  Rob Duqutte (from my neck of the woods-Peru NY) led 4 Bears in double figures with 15 pts. Tony Efese followed with 14, Curtis Pierce had 13, and Brad Drysdale added 12. Pierce just missed a double-double as he led the Bears with 9 rebounds.

The Bear is smiling as Potsdam breaks a 4 year schneid vs. the Utica Pioneers. 72-67.

Bears had four in doubles, led by a gimpy soph Rob Duquette with 15, Tony Efese with 14, Jr. Curtis Pierce with 13 and 9 rebs, and Sr. Brad Drysdale with 12.  Bears had a 46-36 rebounding edge to overcome a 14-28 performance at the charity stripe.

Alex Meyer led Pioneers with 10 pts and 14 rebs.  Other Pioneers in double figures included Matt Baldwin and Wlkery Milles with 12, and Reggie German with 10.

Bears were 26 x 47 inside the arc to offset a dismal 2z15 outside, although best shooter Skip Schwartz was in civvies on the bench.

Swarming Bears combo zone defense held Utica to 37% FG %.

Lakers falter in Canton as SLU upsets Oswego 66-62.

And then jdex came on with the wrap up at 8:54.

Oswego battles back, leads 55-54 with 5:05 left on H. Ward hoop. SL reversal at 4:29 and hangs on. C. Burridge bucket gets Lakers within 62-61 at 1:38. Larries' R. Temgoua clutch ft's at 0:51 and a bit later, and gets late steal. Finishes with 23 pts. Burridge 19 pts(7x14fg, 7 reb); H. Ward 13 pts; S. Michele 8 assts.

Cortland barely up at half. Elmira with eight 3s, RDragons shutout beyond arc. Winter scoreless half, M. Brown 5 pts -- a factor yes. J. Smith 7 pts

We had it way before the Oswego website. ;D  Just like we've got the Bears final over Utica.  ;)

thebear

Oswego loss is shocking.  Looks like Saints got off to a big first half lead and held on to the bitter end.

Lakers have some very talented bigs who never saw the court.  Perhaps Stockwell was underestimated as a coach.

Hey bear, I'm smiling with you. I got one third of my wishful thinking, and even if they don't start out 3-0, I got the one I wanted most. :D

Hopefully the Bears can gain a measure of revenge in their opener against Utica College. Utica won a close one last year and the Bears are on a 4 game losing streak against the Pioneers. This would appear to be the year that the streak comes to an end as Utica lost 4 starters and 7 of their top 9 players off last years team. Potsdam State travels to the Williams Invitational after the Utica College game and while the Bears don't have to face off against host Williams they will have their hands full against a tough Salem State team who returns quite a bit from last year's regular season champion team. It will be interesting to see how they do against the Vikings and their do everything big man Brian Clark. Clark was the MASCAC player of the year last year averaging 19.3 ppg and made the D3hoops Northeast Regional 1st team. Southern Vermont  should be the easier of the 2 games the Bears play that weekend as they lost 4 of their top 5 scorers from last year. Would be nice to start out 3-0 on the road, but that's probably too much to ask.

Now you know I wasn't poking fun at you. I saw that we both submitted at about the same time.  8-) I couldn't resist jabbing bear fan though.

Fredonia slow to ignite but wins 61-50 at Penn St. Behrend. Devils take first lead at 19-18 and hold 32-26 margin at intermission. Interesting .....Freds 19x43ft AND 12x29 3s. All but 14 steves from beyond the arc! D. Goodwin 15 pts(4x7 3s); K. Mitchell 11 pts; J. Bryant 10 pts; J. Herrera 5 rebs, 5 assts
