Brockport leading Baruch 31-27 at the break. Closely contested 1st period with numerous ties and several lead changes. Brockport finally gets a little breathing room with about a minute left to play at 31-25 for the biggest margin of the half and Baruch hits 2 free throws to narrow the gap. Lance Legister with almost half of Brockport's point total has 15 on 6x10 shooting and 3x4 from the line. No other Golden Eagle with more than 4. Joshua Vital leads Baruch with 8 pts.

Fueled by 10 2nd half points by big man Anyar Majak and 7 by guard Anthony Hamer, Buffalo State has chargedfrom an 8 point halftime deficit to an 8 point advantage as they now lead Hobart 68-60 with 3:37 left in the game. Go Bengals!!

Fredonia leading D'Youville 50-19 still in the 1st half. Looks like an offensive explosion by the Blue Devils.

Blue Devils up 50-25 at the half.

Brockport has opened up a 9 point lead over Baruch 46-37 with 12:05 to play.

My first final score prediction of the season came pretty darn close as Buffalo State defeats Hobart 80-74. I called it 78-76 in favor of the Bengals. My total of 154 was right on the money. I did say that Jake Simmons and Rod Epps would lead the way and the youngsters didn't disappoint me as Rod led the Bengals with 18 points and Jake was close behind with 16. (If it sounds like I'm tooting my own horn, well I am.) Ant Hamer finished with 11 and 3 other players, Anyar Majak, Seth Runge, and Brad Doyley all finished with 10 each to make it 6 players in double figures for the Bengals. Despite the loss of Justin Mitchell and Nico McLean to this year's Bengal squad it would appear that all is still well in the Queen city as they take down the Liberty League preseason favorites on the road. Congrats to the Bengals for a stirring comeback and a job well done. I know a certain Bengal supporter that will be sleeping quite well tonight. (After he's partied hearty) ;D

New Paltz loses in OT to Mount St. Mary 83-81. Hawks let a 16 point halftime lead, 39-23, dwindle away as they get outscored in the 2nd half 48-32. The Knights buried a trifecta with 9 seconds left in regulation to tie the game up at 71 apiece. In the extra period the Hawks scored first but the Knights ran off 7 unanswered points to go up 78-73 and the Hawks never caught up. Up 5, with 2 seconds play, New Paltz got a triple from Matt Devine at the buzzer, to make a little closer. I had this game 75-72 in favor of the Knights and my total was pretty close at the end of regulation.

Fredonia wins big against D'Youville by a score of 91-60. I had it closer and smaller with the Freds winning 67-63. The last time Fredonia scored more than 75 points was almost a year ago and that was against, you guessed it, D'Youville, when they won 89-72 on Nov.22, 2011.. I just should have looked that up before I made my guess. :D

So much for my predictions as Brockport blows a 9 point lead and falls to Baruch on the road 64-58. Definitly one that the Golden Eagles let slip away. Eagles up 46-37 with 12 minutes left, get outscored  17-4 over the next 7 minutes to fall behind 53-50. Baruch's lead grew to 57-52 and Port  got it to within 2 at 57-55 but the Bearcats hit their free throws and shut the door on Brockport's attempted comeback. This team owes me one as they spoiled my perfect night. >:(

Oh well as Meat Loaf said, "3 outta 4 ain't bad". (I know, I know, it was 2 outta 3 in the song) ::)

I'll fill in some stats later if no one else does them.

Random notes:

Brockport game and the New Paltz game have quite a discrepancy at the stripe.

Brockport was 8x16 from the line while Baruch was 22x31. Seems a little one sided and it wasn't because there was a big foul parade at the end of the game either. Golden Eagles had 3 players in double figures led by Lance Legister with 20 pts. Bobby Bell had 14 pts, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. John Ivy had 10 pts and 7 boards. Eagles must have played a lot of 1 on 1 or hoisted some quick shots as they only had 9 assists as a team. Baruch even worse with only 7 assists. Both teams with mucho turnovers 19 for Port and 21 for Baruch.

New Paltz only went to the line 10 times and made 7 of their attempts. Mount St Mary had 28 free throws and made 20 of them. That's a lot of free throws to overcome. Shareef Taylor led the Hawks with 25 pts, 7 boards, 4 steals, 2 assists and a block. Matt Devine had a double-double with 24 pts and 10 rebounds. Deveino McRae had 10 pts on 5x6 shooting.

Tyrone Clark and Dalton Cashmere both scored 16 pts to lead Fredonia in its' win over D'Youville. Amir Billups added 15 pts and Robert Lyles added 10. Joe Monahan had 9 pts, 7 assists and 3 steals.

SUNYAC has now compiled an 11-9 out of conference schedule. That needs to get better.

Magicman...truer words have been spoken. It was a good game indeed. At the half it seemed like Hobart was in the drivers seat. Shooting 53% from the field to the Bengals 42% coupled with a ft advantage of 7/9  to 3/4 for the Bengals made for a concerned group. However the 2nd half saw a Bengals team with a renewed commitment to defense and to getting the ball inside to Majak and Runge. Majak had zero attempts at half and Runge was 3 for 3. Second half they finished with a combined 10 of 15 for 20 pts.

After allowing Hobart to shoot better than 50% in the first half the Beengals held them to 33% in the 2nd and 25% from beyond the arc. All Bengal starters scored in double figures along with freshman Bradley Doyley who chipped in 10  (after going scoreless in the first half).

After a quick Thanksgiving break its back on the hardwoods Friday to prepare for Nazareth and Medaille. Partying???? Naw. Gonna rent the movie "Prometheus",  cuddle up with the missus and breathe a sigh of relief!!!! Its good to get the first 1 out of the way!

What's that bolded part stuck in the middle of my quoted post. You trying to make me look bad. ??? Man, I got to give you some lessons on the quote feature when you get up here. You better plan on spending at least a couple of hours away from the team when you arrive in Plattsburgh. ;D And nary a mention of my fortuitous prediction about the Bengals victory and who would be the main men. Not even a karma point!! Next time I'm going to predict a Bengal loss, then you'll appreciate me!!! Remember what happened with my prediction in the first game against Oswego last year after some early Bengal victories had you on your "40 minutes of hell" soapbox! I'm sure "the bear" remembers that one. ;D

Nice win to open the season and one that will help the SOS for the Bengals and the YAC. 8-)

Champ,
I'll do you one better, I'll give you 4 more predictions over the next 9 days. All home games for the Bengals.

Nov. 24th vs Nazareth             Bengals win by 8
Nov. 27th vs Medaille              Bengals win by 9
Nov. 30th vs Oneonta St.        Bengals win by 13
Dec. 1st  vs New Paltz St.       Bengals win by 11

I expect the Bengals to be undefeated on Dec. 8th, when they roll into the Burgh, 8-) and hopefully not so, when they roll out. ;) But I'll save my prediction for that game until later. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving right back at you and to all the regulars on the YAC board. What a gorgeous day here in the North Country.  Sunny and mid fifties.

Champ,
Did you happen to catch the score on D3hoops scoreboard Friday night of Webster vs Cincinnati Christian University. They beat Webster 82-78. They had 10 players with playing time. Scoreboard says CC College, but also called CC University. Isn't that the team that cancelled out on you guys because they claimed they lost a bunch of players? Their website shows 13 men on the roster. Something is rotten in Denmark. ???

Just noticed that there is no video feed listed on the Buffalo State website for tonight's game with Nazareth, just live stats. Is that correct? The site shows video for the next 5 home games. Camera crew on Thanksgiving vacation?  Have they figured out the problems that plagued last year's telecasts? Inquiring minds want to know!

Wrong CCU magic!

http://www.ccuathletics.com/coach/0/1.php

Our CCC/U is coached by Don Nelson!

Yep..staff is barebones tonite. No student managers and probably the thinnest crowd of the year. I do imagine that Naz will have some folks there (less than a hr away). Students will be back in time for Medaille Tuesday! Heck my son Louis (Buff State 2010) will be taping the game for the BENGALS tonite because the video people are gone also!

Champ,
I'm totally confused now. The link you posted is the CCU that I was referring to. That's the team that played Webster last night. Also check your schedule. It shows Cincinnati Christian University and the logo shows them as the CCU Eagles. The link you posted show CCU as the Eagles with the same logo. ??? ??? ??? This team is coached by Ken Tracy. Hard for me to believe that the team you are referring to, coached by Don Nelson has the same logo and nickname as the CCU coached by Tracy.

The only other possibility is the Buffalo State schedule has the logo and nickname for the wrong CCU if there are two different schools named CCU.

Two games on tap today in the SUNYAC:

Geneseo at D'Youville  3:00 PM

The Spartans take on their 3rd YAC team in the past 9 days. They started out with a 50 point loss to Oswego on Nov 16th and followed that up with a 22 point loss to Fredonia this past Tuesday. The point spread favors Geneseo by 3.5 but I don't know where the oddsmakers came up with that figure. The Blue Knights will probably be somewhere in between Oswego's margin and Fredonia's margin. I think it mightl be something like 96-63.

Nazareth at Buffalo State 7:00 PM

Naz handled New Paltz 90-69 back on Nov. 16th. The Bengals aren't New Paltz. They're deeper and more athletic. The spread is only 1 point in favor of Buff State. I think the Bengals should be favored by more. I believe it'll be something like an 81-73 Bengal's win here.
