Oswego leads Plattsburgh at the break 28-22. Plattsburgh grabs an early lead and extends it to 17-10 with 9:43 left in the half. Cardinals go colder that a North Country winter and fail to score a point over the next 6:50 as Oswego goes on a 10-0 run to regain the lead 20-17. John Perez layup finaly breaks the ice but the Lakers open up their largest lead of the half at 26-19. Cards Chris Manning hits a 3 pointer and Lakers Chris Gilke makes a layup with 1:00 left to complete the scoring for the period. It's been the Hayden Ward show for Oswego as he leads all scorers with 15 points. Cardinals have to slow him down or it's all over. John Perez leads Plattsburgh with 7 points. Cards missed way too many layups and got a little sloppy on the offensive end that led to some easy Laker buckets.

New Paltz 92 Fredonia 87 in double OT

New Paltz and Fredonia go down to the wire with New Paltz up 68-66. Freds come down looking to tie it up with 12 seconds to go and Tyrone Clark is fouled on a drive to the hoop. He makes both free throws and New Paltz fails to get off a decent shot in the final 10 seconds. Way to much dribbling. The game heads to overtime.

Fredonia opens the extra session with a 3 pointer by Amir Billups but New Paltz comes down and matches them as Matt Devine drains one. Blue Devils Tyrone Clark then makes a jumper for Fredonia but Devine makes another 3 pointer to give the Hawks a 74-73 edge. Billups misses a jumper and commits a foul and Hawks Deveino McRae makes a pair of free throws. Billups then makes a jumper to cut it to 1 and Deveino makes a layup to restore the 3 point Hawk edge. Joe Monahan then buries a 3 for the Blue Devils to tie it up with 54 seconds to go. Hawks Shalik Jenkins is then fouled with 23 seconds left and makes them both. Fredonia's Tyrone Clark makes a basket to tie it up with 19 seconds left and the Hawks make a basket at the buzzer but the officials wave it off and we go to double overtime tied at 80.

After New Paltz misses a pair of free throws to open the 2nd OT the Blue Devils misfire on a three point attempt. Hawks come down and Matt Devine buries another trifecta to make it 83-80. teams exchange possessions with each team missing 3's and then Fredonia's Tyrone Clark gets a dunk. Hawks miss but get the offensive rebound and Devine lays it in to restore the 3 point edge. Hawks Andrew Joseph commits a foul and then is called for a technical and Fredonia hits all 3 free throws to tie it up at 85 each. Hawks then turn the ball over but Blue Devils misfire and New Paltz comes down and hits another 3 pointer by Shalik Jenkins to make 88-85 with 47 seconds to go. Fredonia misses a 3 point attempt of their own with 14 seconds left and fouls the Hawks Jenkins with 8 seconds to go. He makes both free throws to make it 90-85 and Fredonia calls a time out. Fredonia goes coast to coast to score and promptly fouls on the inbounds pass. Hawk's Devine makes both free throws to make it 92-87 and that's a final. Exciting game in Fredonia.

Deveino McRae with a monster night had 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead in both categories. Matt Devine had 22 points with 4 three pointers. Shareef Taylor and Shalik Jenkins both tossed in 16 points.

The Blue Devils were led by Tyrone Clark with 22, Joe Monahan with 21 and four 3 pointers of his own. He also had 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Amir Billups added 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Tomorrow New Paltz will face Buffalo State at 4 PM. The Hawks improve to 3-2 (1-0 in conference)

Fredonia will host Oneonta at 4 PM. The blue Devils fall to 2-3 (0-1)

Lakers throw a length of the court pass to Hayden Ward who takes a step ot two to the hoop and throws up a shot that misses and the Cards rebound to take the victory. Big win for the young Cardinals....59-57.

Calling this big is like saying "NY City has some tall buildings". Great win magic. It was obvious that Plattsburgh had the talent after watching them hang in with Middlebury this weekend! But this 1 is B-I-G!!!!! Beating Oswego in their building hasn't been done in the 'Yac since Feb of 2010! Congrats.

Plattsburgh at Cortland tomorrow at looks like Saturdays "Game of the Day". Todays results show that Cortland is running on all cylinders! Still awaiting the New Paltz /Fredonia results!!

??? !!   In the regular season maybe, but Brockport beat the Lakers in Oswego, on February 25th, 2011, in the semifinals of the SUNYAC tournament, 74-70. I'm surprised you didn't remember that one, because after all, your Bengals didn't have to face the Lakers at home to win the conference tournament. You got to play Brockport instead and whomped em 67-50 to win the automatic NCAA bid. ;D

But you were semi-correct in that they hadn't lost a Regular season SUNYAC game at home since February of 2010. And the last team to do that...why the Plattsburgh State Cardinals of course 81-66 on 2-12-10. ;D
