#5160
Major movement overnight in the Massey Ratings by SUNYAC teams.

Brockport jumped from 19th up to 13th  and the win they had last night isn't even factored in.

Plattsburgh moved from #58 up to #40 #39  I said in my post of the game yesterday that I hope the win would boost Plattsburgh up into the 40's. I got my wish there. Maybe after the 2 scores that are still missing get recorded we'll move into the 30's. Plus if Port and Cortland win today, that could help. The reason Brockport moved up 6 spots overnight is due to the wins by Plattsburgh, Oneonta and Geneseo, yesterday. So today the Golden Eagles can return the favor and when their wins are plugged in we can move up.

Geneseo leapfrogged Oswego and moved up from #91 to #53 because of their win over Puget Sound. That win moved them higher today, (53) than Plattsburgh was yesterday (58) I'm real happy that the Blue Knights flew 6000 miles for their win. It helped us all.

Oswego was ranked #66 and moved up 5 spots to #61. The Lakers actually dropped in relation to the SUNYAC teams as they were the 3rd highest ranked YAC team and now they are the 4th.

Buffalo State moved up from #98 to #77 and that move wasn't because of their win over North Central. That one has still not been factored in. The Bengals moved up because of  the Plattsburgh, Geneseo and Oneonta wins. I think the Bengals may pass Oswego when the North Central win is recorded. Buff State's Strength of Schedule is so much better than the Lakers. The Bengals have a SOS of 68. The Lakers is 245. (remember lower is better here). Brockport's is 63 and Plattsburgh's is 81. When the North Central score is factored in for Buff State and after the Cardinals play Middlebury on Jan. 7th, I believe the Bengals and the Cardinals will be 1 and 2 which is what I had them at, when I broke down all the teams out of conference schedules, at the beginning of the season. So the 2 scores that will still impact all of the YAC teams that have yet to be recorded by Massey are the Bengals win over North Central and the Brockport win over Hamilton yesterday. Since both of these wins are over teams from the "power conferences" they will boost all the YAC teams.

Cortland which was sent tumbling with the loss to SUNYIT several weeks ago (and hasn't played since) just moved up 15 placements from #140 to #125, again thanks to Plattsburgh and the others. I wonder where the Red Dragons (and all of us) would be if they had disposed of SUNYIT like they should have.

Oneonta with a 3 game winning streak just moved up 49 spots from #194 to #149. A win on Wednesday will boost them some more.

New Paltz moved up 9 spots to #259

Potsdam and Fredonia gained 4 spots each and are hunkering down at #360 and #361 respectively. The other teams can't pull these two up very far. At some point you have to win a few games or you drag the rest down.

Our Conference made a major jump again as I predicted it would. I had hoped we'd move into the top 10 if we went 6-3 in our remaining 9 OOC games, however Mr. Massey's computer liked what we did so much the past 10 days that we got bumped up to #10 already...we were # 17 yesterday. I believe that puts back to where we were before the Cortland loss to SUNYIT (and losses by Potsdam and Fredonia)  dropped us down to #19

I knew the wins against the CCIW and the WIAC conferences would be a big plus as those 2 conferences are consistently ranked in Massey's Top 5. Right now the CCIW is #1 and the WIAC is #4. Buffalo State and Plattsburgh helped the YAC just by scheduling teams from those conferences, to then win all 4 games against them was big.

Edit: About 7 hours now since I posted this and I noticed that Massey has bumped the Cardinals up from #40 to #39. So Plattsburgh has achieved its highest ranking of the season so far. Still think we move up another few notches after the 2 missing scores are posted  and if we can get a few more wins in the next couple of days. Nobody else moved in the past 7 hours except Plattsburgh, so the extra nudge up  must be related to something good one of our opponents did.

Scooterman has arrived--Alive and well down here in Florida and ready to participate in discussions. Hope all had a Merry Christmas. I am impressed with my beloved Bport Eagles so far, as they are looking like the early 2000's teams that were dominant in the SUNYAC's. On the verge of D3 Top 25 team. Go Eagles!!!! Good luck today and Happy New Year to all!

Welcome back my fair weather friend. ;D Normally that phrase means one thing, but in your case it has a double meaning. ;D

I was wondering at what point you were going to make your entrance. When I didn't see a post from you after Port won the Wendy's Tournament, I thought maybe you had left this world. Good to hear from you again. Plus K to welcome you back.

Thanks-Magic--I have been sitting quietly enjoying the nice weather playing some golf and actually got back into coaching HS ball down here in Florida. I am loving it! Great to see the YAC off to such a good start. I hope it continues for all teams so we get some recognition at tourney time,BUT my beloved Eagles got a real chance to shine. Experience, size, quickness,DEFENDERS, and some shooters with Coach Dunne at the helm. Watch out SUNY!!!

So we can expect to hear from you more than every couple of years now? Your Eagles look imposing indeed, but, the Cardinals, the Bengals, the Lakers, and the Blue Knights all possess considerable talent as well. And after todays game, Brockport has 3 road games to look forward to in conference play. Then the real season will begin for them. This other stuff (the Wendy's tournament, the Medaille tournament) that's just been foreplay. ;) :D

...and speaking of Brockport. Around 12:30 this afternoon I went to lunch at the Colter Bay,  with a couple of co-workers to say good bye to our secretary who was leaving today for a better job! Lo and behold what basketball team was seated directly next to our table with 20 plus folks???? All of the green and yellow was too much to bear. I got my lunch to go!  :-[.

Go'Yac  :)

and welcome back scooter! ;)

What is it with Utica teams and Cortland this year? ??? They must have gotten ahold of a voodoo doll of Coach Spanbauer. :P  Must be something to do with the postponements of these games from their original time and place that threw the Red Dragons off their game. Just when the YAC had climbed to new heights in Massey's ratings we'll come crashing down.(Not to far I hope) I'm not gonna let Fran Elia forget this. :(

Live report from Medaille gym.  At the 10 min mark in the first half it's all tied up at 16. Bport is in foul trouble !

Bengalsrule

At the half it's Medaille 26 and Bport 27! Don't know who's the leading scorer or any of that stuff.  Do know that Carruthers has 2 fouls and is 0 for 7 on his last 7 shots. Ivy sat out a considerable amount of time also!

Brockport defeats Medaille 66-52. Not the track meet I expected but the MOV was what I thought it would be.

I know the saying goes" Better to be seen than viewed," but in this case it has to be "heard from." Thanks for the welcome back, "Bengal." I know the YAC is a talented group, and my Bport boys can't just show up and expect to win. It should be a dog fight to the end, but we got the Great Danes to run over people. Should be a fun season. Start with 3 on the road but haven't played at home yet and 6-1. Road Tested--Isn't that a Goodyear commercial. Happy New Years!!!!!!

By the way, Bengal, the Bport guys are friendly group--They would have welcomed you for lunch. LOL
