Haha Honestly Magicman i looked at the SOS from massey not the actual Massey order. SOS looks about right on Massey Ratings. Thanks for your input

Hey dcahill.  There's nothing wrong with using Massey as a way of determining where east teams stack up!  It's a very usefull tool and more reliable than magicmans rankings ;D

There's a KITTYCAT  in the Queen City that's got a real short memory also. :o

I have been out of the country for the past week and had to catch up on my D3 Hoops--Congrats to my Bport Eagles on their #23 and big win against their rival Bengals. Just keep on winning and everything else will take care of itself. Enjoy the cold weather--LOL

Magicman....is this the night to "dial" in on your Cardinals?  Will it be a free broadcast?  I'm pretty tight on such things  :).  Got on Williams and MIT for heavy charges,  Williams would charge 6 bucks just to listen!...   and 10 bucks to see a video.  That is not even adjusted for any adjustments to the coin of the relm even.

amh63,

Please don't pay any attention to that guy behind the curtain, the one who said he's not magicman. ??? He didn't do his home work. ;D

I will give him an A for effort though. They usually do have a webcast.

Unfortunately there is no video or audio broadcast of the Plattsburgh State-Buffalo State game this evening. Apparently with the school still on semester break there doesn't appear to be anyone to man the cameras.  Live stats seems to be all that's being offered for tonight's contest. :( >:( ::) :P

I came into town to my office thinking I was going to see a barnburner of a game and now will be watching anither game instead.

amh63,

You might want to take a peek at the Brockport State-Oneonta State game if you have a chance. Brockport has a preseason All American on their team, John Ivy who wears uniform #3. The 6'1" guard averages 21 ppg and 5 rpg.

Oneonta has an outstanding player as well Zach Mager who wears uniform # 21. Zach is a 6'2" guard who leads the SUNYAC conference in scoring with 22.3 ppg. He averages 4.3 rebounds per game also.

Here's a link to the video of the Brockport-Oneonta game that starts at 8 PM:

http://www.oneonta.edu/communications/video/qt.asp

Should be a good game but I expect that Brockport will earn the W here.

Apologies amh63 about the video.  I'm at the arena right now and there is no 1 in the birds nest ! I've been told that since school is closed till Monday our video lady is still in Long Island  :-[

Four games on the schedule today in conference play.

Jan. 24

Geneseo State  at  New Paltz State      8:00 PM

The Knights will look to keep a grip on 2nd place as they toward that make up game with Brockport on February 1st. New Paltz is looking to regain some momentum as they currently sit in 8th place. With the Knights tonight and Brockport arriving in town tomorrow I don't think the Hawks will get well soon. Point spread has them listed as a 10 point underdog. That appears to be about right. Geneseo marches on as they win this one 83-74.

Potsdam State  at  Fredonia State      8:00 PM

The battle to avoid the basement and the Blue Devils have the advantage with the game on home turf. Both teams with year long struggles have a combined record of 5-23 overall and 0-14 in the YAC. Saw Potsdam play on Tuesday and they looked much better than a 2-12 team. The oddsmakers have made the road team a slight 1 point favorite here, so the game really is a tossup. Based on what I saw on Tuesday plus the fact that Potsdam is where my wife and I met , (so I'm obviously biased) I will go with the Bears by a 66-63 margin.

Brockport State   at  Oneonta State      8:00 PM

Brockport has been hunmming along like a fine tuned Masserati. They are 12-1 and every one of those victories with the exception of the win over Plattsburgh State has been by double digits. They have simply been taking care of business.  Undefeated in the YAC they look to add to that total with a pair of wins this weekend. The Red Dragons are in the midst of the toughest 5 game stretch of their schedule and with losses in the first 2 games the going is getting any easier this weekend. Port tonight and Geneseo tomorrow will make that guady 5-1 conference record of 7 days ago disappear in a heartbeat or so it would seem. The oddsmakes have once again listed the Golden Eagles as a double digit favorite, expecting the margin of victory to be 14 points. I expect the Red Dragons to keep it close for a while but ultimately the backcourt of the Eagles will prove to be the deciding factor. Ivy is on his way to a 3 game total this week that will propel him to Player of the Week honors. My crystal ball predicted 3 big games for Ivy this week and he started off with a 35 point effor against the Bengals on Tuesday. 30 more tonight wouldn't surprise me as the Golden Eagles win this game by an 89-74 final score.

Plattsburgh State  at  Buffalo State      8:00 PM

The game of the night will feature two teams that have been a part of numerous memorable contests in the past few years. Last year we won at home 93-85, the Bengals won in the Big House 93-89. Over the past 7 years the schools have met 16 times and each team has walked off the court victorious on 8 occasions. The Cardinals have the better record this year, overall and in the conference, but you can throw the records out the window when these two teams tangle. The Bengals need a win to stay in the hunt for a playoff position. They know the chance of an NCAA at large bid  has disappeared. Their only hope of an invitation to the Dance is to win the conference tournament. To do that they have to get there and they currently are in 7th place. Cortland holds a 2 game lead on them in the win column. Plattsburgh with 2 losses in the YAC, still is looking to host the conference tournament by winning the top seed. They will need some help along the way for that to happen. A third loss tonight could prove devastating to their hopes. The oddsmakers have made the Cardinals an 8 point favorite here, and I think that's too many. Buffalo State can beat anyone ithe conference this year and at home they are dangerous. This is the first of five home games in a row for the Bengals and they need to start a streak to get back into contention. I would prefer they wait till tomorrow night to start that streak though. ??? The Cardinals will be pushed to the limit tonight and I could be wrong but I can't pick against my homeboys. Plattsburgh wins this one 85-82

If you're checking in at all sorry for the mis-information.

Bad night to be watching a webcast in the SUNYAC.

Buffalo State doesn't have one

Fredonia State doesn't have one either

Oneonta State says they have one but all you can get is static and fuzzy lines so they don't have one either

New Paltz say they have one and in fact they do. I think I'll watch the New Paltz-Geneseo game. ;D Gotta love all the choices I have . :o

Halftime scores

Plattsburgh State 45 Buffalo State 43.

Nothing disappointing about this game. Buff State with the early lead up by 9-2 and 12-5. Cards go in front at 13-12, extend it to 22-16 and grab the largest lead of the half at 32-20. Bengals come back and get it to a single point at 41-40 but 4 straight points by Shavar Fields bumps the Cards to a 5 point edge. Rod Epps hits a 3 pointer with 34 seconds left for the final points of the half.

Fields with 12 points to lead the Cardinals. Xavier Thomas and Ed Correa with 9 each. Thomas has 5 rebounds to top Plattsburgh. Ezra Hodgson with 7 points off the bench.

Justin Mitchell with 12 points and 5 rebounds to top the Bengals. Rod Epps also with 12 points and Chris Boyd has 10 off the bench.

An upset in the making?

New Paltz leads Geneseo at the break by a 46-37 score.

Nick Taldi, Taylor Sowah and Andrew Seniuk lead New Paltz

Connor Fedge and Gordon Lyons are high men for Geneseo

magicman

Brockport leads Oneonta by a 39-35 score at halftime.

John Ivy as predicted with 16 points in the first half. Matt Lee added 8 points.

Jackson Zuvic with 11 points and 5 rebounds for Oneonta. Zach Mager has 10 points.

magicman

Fredonia on top of Potsdam by a 32-24 score at halftime.

Bears fail to score a single point from the 11:21 mark down to the 5:39 mark , almost 6 minutes. Tough to win when you have a scoreless drought of that length. They did fight back to get it to single digits at the break though.
