Brockport wins in a shocker 57-56.

That's a stunning outcome to a game that no one should want to see. Hard to believe the coaching staff didn't remind the players that they had no time outs left.

Congratulations to Brockport for coming back from such a big deficit to get the win. Wish it had been decided on a basket instead of the way it ended.

I'm watching the Brockport players cutiing down the nets as I type this. How fitting that the first cut was reserved for John Ivy.

magicman, sorry for both of us.  great games we lost today.  thanks for keeping this, and a half dozen other boards going all season.  you ROCK.

Congrats to the Golden Eagles for a nice comeback win (with some help at the end). NCAAs next.

I haven't been around much but it would seem that Plattsburgh gets an at large bid? Their losses have been strong from looking over the season.

I'm more concerned about losing a 19 point lead than someone calling a Time-Out we didn't have. There was still 2.5 seconds left and there was a shot taken that hit the rim. Wasn't there a bad pass to allow Brockport to Tie the score on the previous possession ? There was a 5 second call on another late possession and Brockport scored on the ensueing possession.  Watched the game on the internet and there were too many mistakes from 15 minute mark of the 2nd half to the end.   I hope Manning doesn't let this ruin his career (which isn't over yet).

Good Luck to both team if the NCAA does the right thing.  Always pull for the SUNYAC in the playoffs no matter who makes it.

A super SUNYAC final, I couldn't ask for anymore excitement. I agree to bad that it couldn't have been decided on a Bport basket other than mistaken timeout technical. The second half comeback was a phenominal effort by the entire squad and specially, B. Caruthers. That "Don't give up, Don't ever give up" attitude was really something to watch. Good luck to hopefully all 3 SUNYAC teams in the dance. REPRESENT BOYS--Go Eagles!!!

Shocking game to decide to the SUNYAC championship. I believe Plattsburgh is safe for an at-large bid. Geneseo may be sweating it out now.

Like I said 5 months ago, the SUNYAC is a 3 bid league. No need for the Cards or the Knights to sweat. Heck, 1 of them should get a hosting opportunity along with the Golden Eagles.

You must admit, this is a game that the Cards lost and not 1 where the Golden Eagles won. Congrats to Brockport on winning the 'Yac championship. I'm curious how it would work if both the Cards men and women ('Yac champs) hosted  the NCAA's??

My only question is....how far will the magicman travel to support his Cards?  Hobart??   Hartwick???   Albertus Magnus????  The NCAA's will be an opportunity for all to see first hand that the 'Yac is BACK! Can you say a "Sweet 16" SUNYAC matchup??

Both the Cardinal men and women can't host on the same weekend. This year the men get first choice to host for the 1st weekend, the women get 1st choice for the 2nd weekend.

Pretty sure Brockport will host a pod that could include Hobart, Hartwick and Morrisonville. Plattsburgh may get lucky and also host a pod but I'm not counting on it. If they do they might send teams like Husson, Babson, and Gordon to Plattsburgh.

The Plattsburgh women were the #4 team in the East behind Ithaca, Vassar and Hartwick. I don't think they would get picked to host over those teams.

Now that my prediction of 3 SUNYAC teams making the tourney has proven correct, I'm predicting that Plattsburgh and Brockport will both make it to the 3rd round -"Sweet 16". And that Geneseo will win at least their first game! ;)

The SUNYAC as expected has received 2 Pool C bids to the NCAA Tournament giving us a total of 3 teams in the field of 62. Plattsburgh State and Geneseo State were the only 2 teams from the East Region to get at large bids as they join League Champion Brockport State at the Dance.

As a bonus the NCAA has selected 2 of those teams to host the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Brockport 24-3, will host and meet the Morrisville State Mustangs. The Mustangs 19-8, won the automatic bid from the NEAC Conference. They finished the regular season in 2nd place but beat the top seed, Lancaster Bible, to win the tournament championship.

The other 2 teams in the Brockport pod will be the Hobart Statesmen against the Scranton Royals.  Hobart with a record of 21-6 won the automatic bid from the Liberty League. The Statemen won the regular season crown and then took the tournament championship with a double overtime win against Vassar College. Scranton, with a 24-3 record, also won the regular season and tournament championship of the Landmark Conference.     I had 3 of the 4 teams in this pod correct in my prediction.

Plattsburgh was also chosen to host a 4 team pod much to my delight. I thought they would, but didn't want to jinx them by stating how sure I was of that happening. With so many New England schools within the 500 mile travel limit we are in a good spot to be a host site. I said that Husson might be one of the teams traveling to Plattsburgh and predicted correctly that the 3 teams would all come from the New England area.

Plattsburgh, 22-5,  will take on the MIT Engineers, winners of the automatic bid from the NEWMAC Conference. After finishing in 4th place during the regular season the Engineers, 20-8, swept through the NEWMAC playoffs by beating the 5th seed, Emerson, the top seed, WPI, and the 3rd seed, Springfield. The NEWMAC conference is the only conference in the country that got 4 teams into the NCAA tournament. In addition to MIT... WPI, Babson, and Springfield all received at large bids to the dance.

The Eastern Connecticut Warriors will take on the Husson Eagles in the other game to be held at Plattsburgh. Eastern Connecticut, 22-6,  was the regular season champions of the Little East Conference but were upset by Rhode Island College in the tournament championship. Husson makes a return visit to Plattsburgh, having lost in a first round game to Plattsburgh State last year. The Eagles are 26-2 and won the automatic bid from the North Atlantic Conference. They were the regular season and tournament champions.

Geneseo 21-6, was given an at large bid and the Knights will travel to Wooster College in Ohio to take on the Dickinson Red Devils. Dickinson with a 21-6 record won the regular season crown in the Centennial Conference but was upset in the tournament championship game by the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays.  Host Wooster will take on St Vincent in the other game in that pod.

A tip of the cap to my man, Bengalsrule, who said at the beginning of the season and several times since, that the SUNYAC would get 3 teams into the NCAA Tournament. 8-)  I do believe he thought it was going to be Brockport, Plattsburgh, and Buffalo State though ;). As Meatloaf once said...Two outta three ain't bad. ;D

After the selection program was over for the men I waited patiently until 2:30 PM to see the Women's selection program and find out where the Plattsburgh State women would be off to. Imagine my surprise when I heard the announcer say they would be taking on Roger Williams at Bowdoin College. I immediately called Plattsburgh State Men's Coach, Tom Curle to ask him if he knew where the Plattsburgh women were going. He said he hadn't heard yet. I informed him that they would be going to Bowdoin and he couldn't believe it. His daughter Marle is a freshman on the Bowdoin Women's team and has started 24 of the team's 26 games. Bowdoin plays Castleton State in the first round and there is a good chance that Plattsburgh State could meet Bowdoin in the 2nd round. I'd love to see who the Coach will be cheering for in that game. ;D

hmmm,  gonna be an interesting potential matchup in the Womans field in Bowdoin if both SUNY Plattsburgh and Bowdoin win their first games.  Marle Curle (daughter of Tom Curle - coach at Plattsburgh) plays a significant role on the Bowdoin squad.   I remember cheering with the team bus driver,Mrs, Curle and Marle at St John Fisher when Anthony Williams hit the "buzzard" beater to shut up the University of Rochester loud mouths.

I am glad to see that 3 YAC squads made it and that 2 are hosting. I agree with prediction that Bport and Pburg will advance. Everybody is 0-0 and I hope some YAC team, preferably my Golden Eagles, can get to 6-0 and bring a Championship home and some REAL respect for the conference. Good luck to all!!!

Its great to see 3 SUNYAC schools make the tournament with 2 hosting.  Just goes to show that at the end of the day the people in charge got it right.  Or maybe it was the posts on this boards that got us the credit which was do.  Now its time to play the games and show the world that we know how to play NCAA D3 basketball.  Also, that we know how to host the games with our top notch facilities in the great state of New York.  On a side note would really like to see the SUNYAC recruit SUNY Purchase into our conference.  If they are as good as advertised(they are also hosting the first round) it can only help the SOS which seems to be an important part of the selection process.  Anyways I will only be cheering for SUNY schools.
