Off to take in the only game on the SUNYAC slate today which is:

Plattsburgh State @ Skidmore 7:00 PM

This is my 8000th post what a coincidence...that should bring my Cardinals some luck...shouldn't it?

Not that I awaken wishing the best for magicmans Cards, however I too hope that they are successful in their journey to Saratoga Springs ( beautiful there in the summer). I've learned over the years that the better our Sunyac ( combined) records are against out of conference teams , the better it is for our conference. Add victories against quality opponents i.e. Skidmore, then the "better" even gets better.  So here's to the Magic 1 having a quality ride back home tonight ( no drinking and driving though).

Go SUNYAC

**************  Newsflash ****************

         From the SUNYAC website today

MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Nico McLean (JR)
Buffalo State, Guard (Buffalo, NY/Amherst)
Nico McLean returned to the Bengals' lineup for the first time since the 2011-12 season and picked up right where he left off, averaging 21.7 points and 8.7 rebounds to go with 13 assists and eight steals in three games as the Bengals went 2-1 to open the season. McLean was named the MVP of the Coles Classic after the Bengals claimed the title with a 74-71 victory over Nazareth where he scored 19 points. He had 29 points, and 10 rebounds in a 100-91 win over Villa Maria, and earlier in the week had 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in a two-point loss to Point Park.

Skidmore 94, Plattsburgh 69

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that d3d3d3 must be a liberty league poster. ::)  Btw, one heck of a win by Skidmore last night.  I doubt anyone saw that 1 coming!

6 teams in action tonight in the YAC. Busy day for me only time for quick picks

Early games:

Brockport State @ Farmingdale State   5:00 PM

Brockport wins this one by double digits. They are favored by 12 points. They win by a 76-66 final.

Oswego State @ Clarkson

Oddsmakers pick the Lakers to win by only 3 points. I think they win by 15 at least. Oswego wins 77-62.

More Tuesday night action

Fredonia State  @    Penn State-Behrend      7:00 PM

The Blue Devils still searching for that initial win of the season. Don't think they will get it tonight. The Lions of Penn State-Behrend are favored by a double digit 18 point favorite. The Blue Devils have lost all 3 games this year by double figure. This will be another one. Lions win 75 to 57.

Morrisville State  @    Geneseo State      7:00 PM

This should be a closely contested game. The 3-1 Mustangs almost knocked off Oswego last week and I think this game will be closer than the 12 point favorite that the oddsmakers have made Geneseo. I think the Knights will win this one but it will be a battle. Geneseo lost a 74-72 decision last year in Morrisville while the Knights won 2 years ago at home by an 89082 score. Geneseo wins the rubber match 81-76.

Middlebury      New Paltz State      7:00 PM

Middlebury is looking for that 1st win after dropping their first 2 games. The Hawks have lost 3 in a row and are a 3 point underdog in tonight's contest. I think the Panthers find their game tonight and manage to put one in the plus column. Middlebury wins this one by a 74-69 final.

Hobart      Buffalo State      7:00 PM

Hobart is listed as a slim favorite as they travel to Buffalo State. The Statesmen are undefeated and are coming off a good win over a Scranton team that was 3-0. The Bengals may not have the services of their leading scorer. Not knowing if they can put their best five on the floor makes me think that the Statesmen will win a close one in the Queen City. Hobart takes this one 85-80 but I hope I'm wrong about that.

A barnburner going on in Farmingdale as the Golden Eagles Clifton Lyerly just scored on a layup and was fouled. He finishes off the 3 point play to give Brockport their first lead in quite a while at 72-70 with 3:48 left n the game. Golden Eagles trailed by as many as 14 points at 62-48 with 11:13 left in the game.

magicman

Brockport up 79-76 with 56 seconds left in the game. Golden Eagles have the ball and take a time out.

magicman

Brockport inbounds the ball and the Port player handling the ball gets fouled at least twice with no call by the officials. As the shot clock is winding down, Matthew Smith makes a baseline jumper to make the score 81-76. The Rams come down and miss a 3 pointer and foul Lyerly who misses both free throws with 11 seconds left. Rams gat a 3 pointer with 4 seconds left and foul Smith with 3 ticks on the clock. Smith makes both shots to make it 83-79 and it's a good thing he does because Farmingdale's Trey Kinard makes an extremely long 3 point shot at the buzzer. I'm guessing it was close to 40 feet, nothing but net. Final score 83-82.  Hell of a comeback by the Golden Eagles to make up a 14 point deficit in the last 11 minutes of the game.

magicman

Middlebury with a 22 point lead on New Paltz 57-35 with 17 minutes left in the 2nd half.

Buffalo State all over Hobart by a 64-38 score with 13:44 left in the 2nd half. And their leading scorer Lovell Smith isn't playing. Go Bengals prove me wrong I love it.

Geneseo defeats Morrisville rather easily  89-65.
