Golden Eagles have the ball stolen by Rochester, with 22 seconds left. Port has to foul and Rochester makes them both. This game is over.  Port goes coast to coast for a layup. to make it 62-59 and calls a timeout. Port fouls on the inbound and Rochester makes both free throws to close them out. Port misses another 3 pointer and I believe it's a final score of 65-59, Rochester.

St John Fisher also loses to the 8th seeded RIT Tigers by a 69-64 final score.

Brockport will meet St. John Fisher on Friday at 6 PM at Roberts Wesleyan.

Rochester will meet Rochester Tech at 8:00 PM in the semifinals at U of R

Geneseo leads Nazareth 48-45 with 18 minutes to go in the 2nd half. Justin Ringen lead the Knights with 20 points. Once again no sign of John Decker  who missed the last Geneseo game as well.

Nazareth leads Geneseo 67-66 with 8 minutes left in the game.

Oswego will come in first place, and Brockport will certainly push the Lakers for top honors. Plattsburgh, Cortland and Buff State will round out the top 5, not necessarily in that order. That's as far as I can see in my crystal ball as it is still a little cloudy. Once I can see some rosters and what the recruits look like (on paper at least) and who imported some transfers (I see the Bengals have at least 2 incoming transfers) I'll be able to make a better 1 through 10 forecast.

I based my "BEST" comment on your prediction from a few weeks ago (see above) that the Lakers would be #1 at the end of the season. That's why I said "from all that I've read" :o

3. The best won't be in the Queen City this weekend, very good for sure, but the best won't be there until January 29th 2016 when the Cardinals roll into town. ;D

I hope that you are right about the "best" being located in the "Queen City" !!! ;)

Just a couple of things to my friend from Buffalo.
2. Plattsburgh State made the blueprint and holds the record for different players leading the team in scoring when they had 9 different players pull that off in the 2013-14 season. 4 different players in the first 4 games, 5 on the first 6. (We don't count exhibition games. Then again we rarely get a chance to have them. ::))

I'll take your word for that. Won't bother checking. However I should have added "this year" (for clarity) with regards to the "5 for 5" since the current season was my main topic of discussion! :)

1. You must have taken a couple of word pills today. Haven't seen you so chatty in a while. Did you buy the generic kind at Walmart or were they the step up, brand name, variety at Target?  :o

Picked up "word" pills at "Matties" with my breakfast, while I read a write up in the local newspaper about my BENGALS. Got me fired up!! ;D

I do agree with you!. I sure do hope my BENGALS get an NCAA bid....by any means necessary!!!!!  Right  on!!! :D  ;) :)

GO BENGALS!!

Geneseo defeats Nazareth 83-81

This game was as exciting as I thought it would be. I was close with my forecast of an 81-75 Geneseo victory. The game was even closer. The winner wasn't decided until the final seconds and it looked like the Golden Flyers had the W with a layup by Denzell Jackson that gave them an 81-80 lead with 8 seconds left. The Knights didn't panic though and quickly pushed the ball upcourt and took a time out with 5.2 seconds on the clock. The Knights needing to shoot in a hurry after the inbounds pass drew up a simple play. Get it to Justin Ringen and fire up a 3 pointer. Ringen got the inbounds pass from Charlie Zaepfel out beyond the arc, with his back to the basket. He turned and fired up a jumper with a defender right on him...nothing but net. Nazareth could only fling up a heave from half court that was off the mark.

Ringen and Mitch Ford both brought their A games tonight and the fans were the beneficiaries. Justin had 30 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal. Mitch, one of the most prolific scorers in the country had 29 points, 11 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Justin and Mitch were both 10x19 from the field. Justin did major damage from behind the arc where he nailed 7 of 8 attempts. Mitch was 8 of 10 from the foul line and 1x2 from long distance.

Plenty of others got in on the fun. The Knights got double figure scoring from Charlie Zaepfel with 15 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds. Nick Fessenden had 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Kevin Crockett had 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, while Connor Keenan had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

For Nazareth, Denzell Jackson had 13 points and 5 rebounds. Brendan Wind had 12 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds. Josh Gillard was 4x9 from long range to total 12 points.

This game was a closely contested affair from start to finish. Sure glad it was at Nazareth where I could watch it for free and not at Hobart where you had to pay to see a webcast.

Neither team ever had a double digit lead as Geneseo went up by 9 points in the early going at 15-6 after 4 minutes of play. Naz had a 5 point lead twice, once midway through the 2nd half at 65-60 and late in the 2nd half  at 76-71 with 4:15 left in the game. The rest of the time it was usually a 1 or 2 possession game. There were 4 ties and 17 lead changes in this game.

Naz now 3-3,  moves into the consolation bracket and will play Hobart College at Roberts Wesleyan at 8:00 PM on Friday night.

Geneseo remains undefeated at 5-0 and will play Roberts Wesleyan at the University of Rochester on Friday at 8:00 PM. Sad news is that Rochester like Hobart insists on charging hoops fans a $6.95 fee to watch their webcasts. Hopefully the games at Roberts Wesleyan will be accessed for free .

Already bummed out that the Championship game of this tournament will take place at the University of Rochester. Won't be watching that one online. :P

Also found out today that this will most likely be the final year of the Wendy's College Classic, at least in its current format. If if does come back at all, there will not be 8 schools in the tournament.

Once again for my Bengal friend,

Plattsburgh's 9 different players leading the team in scoring several years ago was the blueprint. We came up with it, nice to see that you've considered it to be of such high value, that you're trying to copy it. Please let me know when you get there. ;D

We've only played three games this year. Eddie Correa led the team in game 1 with 15 points. Kyle Richardson led the team in game 2 with 36 points. Freshman Jonathan Patron came off the bench and led the team in game 3 with 18 points. Can you see where I'm going here?

And don't put words in my mouth...I never said the best was "located" in the Queen City.  I said the best won't be in the Queen City until January 29th when the Cardinals roll into town. (The striped team that resides there is pretty darn good though.)

Finally, even if the Cardinals aren't in first place or even if they were in last place, they are the BEST, at least as far as I'm concerned,

Rochester 65  Brockport 59

The Golden Eagles could have won this game but let it slip away when they allowed a 32-31 lead to turn into a 49-37 deficit over a 5 minute span in the 2nd half. Brockport went 2 for10 with 2 turnovers in that stretch and had to play catch up from that point on.They were still down by 10, at 55-45 with 6:46 to play, but slowly narrowed the gap until Olusola Adeniran made a 3 point play to bring them within a single point at 58-57.After the Yellowjackets turned the ball over on their next possession Brockport had a golden opportunity to take the lead. However, a missed shot followed by an offensive rebound went for naught as the Golden Eagles turned the ball over and gave the Yellowjackets the break they needed. This time Rochester made them pay and Jared Seltzer hit the big basket that would ultimately prove to be the game winner. Desparately needing to score with only 30 seconds remaining, Brockport would once again commit another turnover, effectively sealing the deal for Rochester.

Hamed Shamseldin was the high man for Port with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Clifton Lyerly had 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Rochester got 22 points from Sam Borst-Smith along with 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Jared Seltzer had 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Brockport falls to 2-1 and will meet St. John Fisher on Friday at 6 PM in a consolation game at Roberts Wesleyan.

Rochester is now 5-2 and will meet Rochester Tech at 8:00 PM on Friday in the semifinals at U of R

Just so my friend from Buffalo knows what's on the line in Friday's game. The bolded teams are my selections in the D3 Men's National Pick Em League. Those first 4 picks were all correct on Wednesday night so I'm starting out 4-0. Impress upon those Bengals you cozy up to, that the magicman needs them to take care of business on Friday night. Failure to do so could result in some ugly forecasts down the road.  ???

Trust me oh Magic 1......Bengal nation is on high alert for some dragons ( red in color) coming to western New York.  Truly the biggest test, to date, of the season. I know of 1 Bengals coach who is thinking about plastering flyers all around campus 1st thing in the morning !  I know "sick dude" huh??   Pray for him!! ;)
