Ugh. That's really annoying. It also says Stevenson vs. SUNY. Hopefully it just cut off the actual school or else Stevenson is facing lots of schools at once.  ;D

pg04,
Even when they had a good video feed for the first few minutes it still said Stevenson vs SUNY.
They must have thought the NY in SUNY was the Big Apple. ???  So we were the State University of New York City. Stevenson was looking to feel good if they beat us. ;D

It's actually Eastern University's fault as they were the on site host for this tournament and responsible for the live stats and video feed. Oh well.

Did you know that....

The SUNYAC is a combined 23-6 versus the other 3 "East" conferences for this year?!

9 wins and 1 loss vs Empire 8
9 wins and 4 loses vs Liberty League
5 wins and 1 loss vs NEAC

7express

And they should make it another win over an "East" conference as Plattsburgh shouldn't have much trouble with UMass-Dartmouth out of the Little East conference.  As magic knows, you let Rezendes get his 30-40 points, don't make anyone else have a big output and you should be well on your way to a victory as Dartmouth is almost guaranteed to give up 75+ on the defensive end of the floor.

And on Saturday night when UMass-Dartmouth lost to Eastern by a 76-57 final they didn't let Rezendes get his 30-40 points that I was counting on since I had him on my team in the Saturday Night One and Done League. He only got 18 points, and stiffed me, so my Cardinals better hold him to no more than 20.

Plattsburgh 81  Stevenson 67

That was fairly close to what I thought the final score would be as I had Plattsburgh winning  by a 78-70 margin. Only 3 points off on each side and my total of 148 was right on the money. Stevenson missed 7 shots in a row and had 3 turnovers in the final 4 minutes of the game. The score was 66-60 with 3:53 left and the only points the Mustangs got were 5 foul shots before they made a basket with 3 seconds left in the game. The Cardinals got a 3 pointer from Jon Patron and a layup from Kyle Richardson to extend that 66-60 lead to 71-60 to put a lid on this one.

The first half was a tight contest with 5 ties before Plattsburgh got a jumper from Patron, a 3 pointer from Richardson and another 3 pointer from Patron to make it 18-10. The Mustangs got back to back 3 pointers from Christian Roberts, then Erik Fisher to close the gap to 20-18 and the margin would remain a 1 or 2 possession game until Plattsburgh once again opened up a 35-28 lead with 3:07 left in the half. The Cards went cold however and allowed Stevenson to narrow the gap to 35-33 at the break.

The Mustangs caught the Cardinals on their first possession of the 2nd half but Kyle Richardson scored inside to put Plattsburgh back in front. Erik Fisher then buried a triple to give the Mustangs their first lead of the day. Three lead changes and five ties would take place over the next 6 minutes until the Cardinals, tied at 48 got another 3 pointer from Richardson and a 3 point play on a hoop and harm from Zack Coleman to give Plattsburgh the lead for good. The Mustangs got their own 3 point play on their next possession but Ed Correa  answered with a bomb from downtown and Richardson followed with another layup inside to stretch the lead to 59-51 with 8 minutes to go. Plattsburgh took their first double digit lead on consecutive layups by Brandon Johnson and Jon Patron to make it 64-53 with 5:21 to go. The Mustangs made one final push and cut it to a 2 possession game at 66-60 but things quickly fell apart when they couldn't buy a basket in the final 4 minutes.

The Cardinals got a big game out of Jon Patron who had his biggest game yet in a Cardinal uniform. The first year player improved upon the 18 points he had against St Lawrence earlier this month by capturing scoring honors with 22 points. He was 9x14 from the field, 2x4 from behind the arc and 2x2 from the line. Jon also had 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in 28 minutes off the bench.

Kyle Richardson had another big double-double with 21 points and a game high 15 rebounds.  This was Kyle's 4th double-double in 7 games and the 15 boards will move him into 7th place in the nation with his 12.6 rpg.
The X-Man, Xavier Thomas, had a solid game with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal. Zack Coleman had 9 points, with 4 rebounds, and went 7x7 from the line. Eli Bryant came off the bench with 6 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds in 20 minutes of court time.

Plattsburgh outshot the Mustangs in all 3 areas and also outrebounded them 45-40. The Cardinals had 12 turnovers to only 10 for the Mustangs.

Stevenson was led by Erik Fisher with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Christian Roberts had 16 points, Sean Mayberry had 14 points with 8 boards, and Julian Davis had 10 points.

Plattsburgh improves to 5-2 overall and will be back at it on Sunday with another game from Miami against UMass-Dartmouth at 3:00 PM.

Stevenson will go up against  the Centre Colonels Sunday at 1:00 PM to wrap up their trip down south.

Cortland 77  SUNY-Poly 64.

No surprises here as the Red Dragons did what they were supposed to do. I had them winning by an 85-65 final score. The Wildcats were just a point away from my forecast and Cortland's coaching staff played the mercy card and emptied the bench earlier than most others would have, which limited the points on the Red Dragons side.

Just a single game on tap today as Plattsburgh wraps up it trip to Florida.

UMass-Dartmouth  vs  Plattsburgh State   3:00PM

Cardinals looking to come home with a 2-0 road trip after taking down Stevenson yesterday. UMass-Dartmouth, a member of the Little East Conference, comes into this game with a 5-4 overall record. The Corsairs can put a lot of points up on the scoreboard as they have broken the century mark twice this year and scored n the 90's on another occasion. All 3 of those games were wins. They do however give up a lot of points as well. They average 82.3 ppg and give up 79.5 ppg. In their losses they have given up 81.5 ppg. They have the 3rd leading scorer in the nation, 6'2" senior guard Jordan Rezendes. Jordan is averaging 29.4 ppg. but he's not the only threat they have as 4 others on the team are currently averaging double figures in ppg. Plattsburgh will have to get after this team on the defensive end and use their athleticism to prevent them from running their offense the way they would like to. If the Corsairs want to turn this game into a track meet they will find themselves hitting the tape in 2nd place. Plattsburgh is averaging over 81 points a game in their 5 wins. That's what the Corsairs give up.

The oddsmakers have made the Cardinals a 9 point favorite here and  when I crunch the numbers, that's about what I come up with as well. Plattsburgh has beaten better teams than this one by more than 9 points. Plattsburgh wins this one, 84-72.

Kudos to coach Curle for taking his boys to sunny Fla for 4 days, in the middle of December, and for taking care of business yesterday. With the first snow of the year falling this weekend in Buffalo, I couldn't help but wonder what it was like for Kyle and co.to be in 75-80 degree weather the past 3 days!  Hopefully 7express ( you gotta tell us how u came up with that name) and the Magic 1 are right about today's results!  Also kudos to the Red Dragons/Jdex for beating Sunyit and keeping the Yac undefeated, so far, this weekend!

With a conference as tough as the Sunyac I can only hope that ........
A - thier, The 'Yac,  stellar record vs other "East conferences" is remembered come selection Sunday.  The Yac is definitly a multi bid conference!
B - all Yac teams stay healthy. It's a shame that we have to beat up on each other for the last 18 games of the regular season ( actually 16 except Brockport and Geneseo). Somebody's got to lose half of these contests!

Sunyac predictions coming soon.... Bengalstyle!!!

Brockports upcoming opponent is the feature story today in D3HOOPS!  http://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2015/12/wrapup-1219

John Carroll is 9-0 and off until they face the Golden Eagles in Daytona Fla on Dec 29th (whats with all the Florida trips??).  Did someone say "quality win" opportunity ahead for B-Port/'Yac??  Go Yac...B-Port!!   ;)

Plattsburgh leads UMass-Dartmouth 51-42 at the half.

Kyle Richardson coming up big for the Cardinals once again as he has 22 first half points to  almost double every other player's 1st half point total.

Cardinals led several times in the first part of the period by 7 or 8 points but each time the Corsairs would narrow the gap. Down by 8 at 29-21 with 11:13 left in the half Dartmouth came back on a 10-2 run and caught the Cardinals at 31-31 with 8 minutes to go. Only ahead 41-37 with 5 minutes left on the clock, Plattsburgh got an Ed Correa triple, followed by an old fashioned 3 point play from Richardson. Richardson then added 2 more  layups before the Corsairs could get another score and with 1:27 left in the half the Cards had opened up a 14 point bulge at 51-37. The Corsairs would get the final 5 points of the half to cut the lead to single digits at 51-42.

Jon Patron was also in double figures in the first half for Plattsburgh with 11 points.

Jon Robinson led the Corsairs with 12 points and Jordan Rezendes had 9.

Plattsburgh State 99  UMass-Dartmouth 95

There was a track meet in Florida today and the Cardinals had just enough speed and stamina to nip the Corsairs at the wire. This game should never have been this close and the funny thing is I had no idea it was this close. I was having computer problems at my house as the modem is acting up and my download speed is way off. So I can't maintain a good video connection. I was following the game on a herky jerky video feed that would constantly stop and start. So I had the live stats page up and was using that to follow a lot of the action. I noticed yesterday when I watched the videos from the site of the games (and yesterday I was at my store office watching and had no computer issues) that the live stats were about 2 minutes faster than the video. If I looked at the live stats I could see a basket by Richardson for instance and 2 minutes later it would happen on the video. Strange that the video was that far behind the live stats but it was. So today it was more of the same except my video feed was so bad I spent most of my time watching the live stats. Little did I know that the live stats were way off from the actual scoring. Most of the game there wasn't a problem but inside of the final 7 minutes the live stats were completely different than the actual score. At one point I'm looking at a score of 91 to 80 in favor of Plattsburgh on the livestats page. There's a time out on the floor and they flash to the scoreboard which shows Plattsburgh ahead 86-85. Totally confused as to how it's a 1 point game when the Cards are in front by 11. Times are way off as well. Just to give you an example of how screwed up the stats are here is a link to the boxscore:

  http://d3hoops.com/seasons/men/2015-16/boxscores/20151220_ha7m.xml

Look how many things take place when there is 5:06 left to play in the 2nd half. Somebody went back and has tried to reconstruct what took place over a span of a couple of minutes but the time doesn't move from 5:06. Maybe there was some high tech gadgets there that froze time like we see in science fiction movies.
The funniest thing is the 5 Plattsburgh players that enter the game at 5:06  are the same 5 players that go to the bench. Now that's a Back to the Future moment.

So I had no idea that the game was a single possession game with just seconds on the clock. At one point I'm looking at a score showing the Cardinals in front 98-89 with seconds left  and then I get a final score of 100-91. Now I see the video and there's a time out and the scoreboard says it's 97-95 Cards with 44 seconds to go. I'm trying to figure out how Dartmouth got to 95 points when I'm looking at a final of 100-91. Remember I said the live stats were several minutes ahead of the video, so I should be watching a video with the score somewhere around 98-89.

I never knew what the final score was until they put up the box score but as you can see even the box score is all screwed up.

The bottom line is the Cards won a game they were supposed to win. They seemed to open up daylight every time the Corsairs tried to make a game of it. It looked like Plattsburgh allowed themselves to get sloppy with the lead and never really put the Corsairs away, mainly because they didn't play good defense.

Fortunately for Plattsburgh, Jon Patron made his free throws down the stretch and scored 10 points in the final 4 minutes of play as the Cardinals held off the Corsairs for the win. The 1-2 punch of Patron and Kyle Richardson was huge for Plattsburgh all weekend and today they were able to offset the JR boys from Dartmouth, Jordan Rezandes and Jon Robinson.

Richardson once again had a double-double, his 5th of the season with 26 points (11x18 fg) and a  team high 10 rebounds. He also had 3 blocks 2 steals and 1 assist.  Jon Patron once again reset his high game in a Cardinal uniform. Yesterday he had 22 points for a new Cardinal high and today he topped that with a team high 27 points (10x12 fg, 2x3 3's, 5x7 ft). He just missed a double-double with 9 rebounds, a steal, block and assist in only 19 minutes off the bench.

Ed Correa seems to be rounding back into form after missing some time with an injury as he had 5 three pointers for a 15 point night. He added 8 rebounds, a block and a steal. Xavier Thomas had another all around game as he scored 11 points, grabbed 8 boards, had 4 assists, a steal and a block. Eli Bryant also provided help off the bench with 10 points and 4 rebounds.

The Plattsburgh bench outscored the Corsairs by a 43 to 7 margin. We outshot Dartmouth in all 3 categories and won the rebounding battle by a 47-39 margin. They had 9 turnovers to 13 for the Cards.

Jordan Rezandes was the game's leading scorer with 32 points, was the game's leading rebounder with 12 boards and completed his triple-double with 10 assists, which was...you guessed it, the game's leader there as well. I had Rezandes on my fantasy team last night (it's a Saturday night only league) and he scored a season low 15 fantasy points. Today against my Cardinals he gets 56 fantasy points. There's no justice in this world. :P

The Corsairs also had double digit scoring from Jon Robinson with 21 points, Nick Portelance with 17 points, and Abi Akanni with 14 points.

Plattsburgh State improves to 6-2 on the season and will now be off until Monday, January 4th when they host Trinity College out of the NESCAC conference at 7:00 PM.
