I can be a late poster too! haha. Although I haven't gone to bed yet. Not sure if I'm insomniac or not, or all the cherry cokes have kept me awake. Either way, I am looking forward to the conference schedule!

Happy New Year to all the posters, friends, players, and guests that frequent this board. I hope the New Year is a happy, fun filled time, that brings good health and lots of wealth to everyone.

As my friend from Buffalo has stated in the past...we really do have one of the best boards around. We may lack the quantity that some other boards have, but our quality is hard to beat.  8-) And with the recent additions of All-Time and pg04 our quality only got better.

My prediction (and you guys know how I love to predict things) is the SUNYAC board will continue to grow and more online friendships will become face to face friendships in reality. Good luck to all in 2016!

I'm enjoying a cherry coke as I type this. I've had a few tonight. And yes you are up quite late as well. Happy New Year.

Didn't know you were up until I just posted my greetings,

Bengalsrule,

I don't have Ken Massey's phone number. However a connected guy like yourself, who counts presidential candidates on their list of friends, and spends half of your life on the phone, must surely have Massey's phone number. I suggest you go right to the source yourself and straighten him out. It's not like you lack ammunition to confront him with. ???

I have located Mr. Massey and have sent him my "ammunition" I gotta believe that once he reads his email, he will fix the problem. Hopefully Buff State and the SUNYAC will both benefit!

As McCloud always used to say... "There you go"!!  And the warm and fuzzy feeling you get from doing that yourself, instead of having the magicman do it for you, is well worth the effort expended....isn't it?  ;)

Uh oh.... :o  Something is happening with the Massey ratings. I've tried to bring it up twice just now,  and both times I get the dreaded This webpage is not available notice!

Who you trying to fool? You know you can't resist coming up here and busting my chops. Besides where else do you get treated like visiting royalty? And if it will make you feel better I won't charge you for the taxi service of carting you around for the weekend, despite the message that was delivered to you the other day. It's the New Year and I'm in a giving mood.  ;)

A little off the beaten track. I'm watching the Rose Bowl and Christian McCaffrey, who was my choice for the Heisman Trophy, (anybody that breaks Barry Sanders' records and puts up the most total yards in NCAA history, for all divisions, deserves the Heisman) scores on a 75 yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game.

The 2nd time Stanford gets the ball, McCaffrey rushes for 5 yards, rushes for 22 yards, rushes for 19 yards and comes to the sideline for a breather. The running back that replaces him, by the way, is none other than Barry Sanders' son. ( and yes,  it's that Barry Sanders, who held the record that McCaffrey broke) Sanders gains 1 yard on 1st down, then an incomplete pass on 2nd down brings up 3rd and long. Back into the game comes McCaffrey who catches a sideways toss from the quarterback and runs for 12 yards. He then runs for 7 yards on 1st down to the Iowa 8 yard line and then the quarterback takes it in for a TD on the next play. The Cardinal went 74 yards on that drive and McCaffrey had 65 of them.

Stanford then intercepts a pass on Iowa's possession and it's returned for a touchdown making the score 21-0

After Iowa punts on their next possession, Stanford comes out throwing on 1st down for a 2 yard gain. They throw an incomplete pass on 3rd down and they have to punt. In between those 2 passes they handed off to McCaffrey and he lost a yard. Stanford punts but then Iowa goes 3 and out and they have to punt. The 1st quarter ends 1 play before they punted so it's barely the start of the 2nd quarter when they kick it to Stanford. McCaffrey gathers in the punt at his own 37 yard line, runs up the gut, and eludes a couple of tacklers, then breaks to the outside and races down the left sideline to the end zone for a 63 yard punt return, making it 35-0.

It was at this point in the game that ESPN announcer Brent Musburger, rambling as usual, said this McCaffrey kid is a magicman. ???  Now I have to send him a message telling him that name is already taken and royalties are in order here. However if I have to share it, Christian McCaffrey is a good choice to go with.

This game is 15 minutes and 48 seconds old and McCaffrey who gained over 220 yards in a game 10 times this season, already has 232 yards in basically 1 quarter.

Up 35-0, Stanford started spreading the ball around to other players so McCaffrey didn't get many touches in the 2nd quarter. He did have another 50 or 60 yard run for a touchdown, but the refs threw a flag on the play for holding and the TD was wiped off the board.

Late in the 4th quarter McCaffery catches a pass for a 7 yard gain. That gives him a record 368 total yards. He has 172 yards rushing, 105 yards receiving, and 91 kick return yards. Not a bad day at the office. I predict he will win the Rose Bowl's MVP award. Had all I could do to come up with that prediction.  :D

In the other, biggest game of the year for Stanford, which was the PAC-12 Championship game against Southern Cal, McCaffrey lit up the Trojans for a 461 yard day...207 rushing, 105 receiving and 129 on kick returns as they beat USC by a 41-22 rout.

I think their are 3 reasons this kid didn't get the Heisman trophy, (he finished 2nd in the voting). #1. His school never started a Heisman campaign for him until November 10th when the Cardinal had already played 10 games. Most schools start a players Heisman campaign before the season even starts. #2. There were 157 Heisman voters who turned in their vote before the PAC 12 Championship game. Had they waited and witnessed his performance in that game, or even read about it, he might very well have won the Heisman.
#3. He plays on the West Coast and as pg04 said, if you aren't Oregon or USC you don't get the exposure that schools in other regions of the country get. There are not many people on the East Coast tuning in to watch those late games out West that start at 10 PM EST.

He was Sports Illustrated's College Football Player of the Year.

Christian's father is Ed McCaffrey who also went to Stanford and was drafted by the New York Giants where he played for 3 years. He also played 1 year for the 49ers and won a Super Bowl and 9 years for the Broncos and won 2 Super Bowls. Christian, only a sophomore at Stanford, has a brother Max who was a senior wide receiver at Duke this year.  He also has 2 younger brothers, and one of them Dylan, is one of the top ranked quarterbacks in the country, (2nd ranked actually) and he will graduate from high school in 2017. He has offers from a host of Division 1 school already. The youngest McCaffrey, Luke, is currently a freshman in high school.  Christian's mother was a  very good soccer player at Stanford and her father was a world class sprinter Good genes in that family, no wonder they have so many football players in the family, especially  at the skill positions.

I feel like anyone who turned in their vote before the games were done should have their votes revoked. But that's another story. I agree that McCaffrey should have won the Heisman. Sometimes I feel like I watch more football than the voters do. Henry's season was great bu there was just something (and in deference to magicman himself) magical about Christian's season. Being on the west coast (and not at USC or Oregon) hurt him. The eastern blocks never seem to see these players on a weekly basis.

Yeah, you're right about the West Coast- East Coast thing, and I meant to add that in my post as a 3rd reason, which I'm going to revise.

Also correct that those early voters should have their voting privileges revoked. They obviously never listened to Yogi who warned them " it ain't over till it's over." Ultimately I think that was the biggest reason he missed out on the award.

The good news is he looks to be returning to Stanford next year and he seems to be a team first, humble player, from the interview shown at the end of the game.

$5.00??  Heck it was free to get here inside medaille gym today. I would have been pissed if I paid $5.00 to watch this massacre. Must admit that medaille is missing the points and steals leader and 2nd leading rebounder Johhnie Belton. He's watching the game from the balcony while he battles mono.  I'd like to think that medaille can give cortland a contest in the 2nd half. I doubt it though !!!
