Outstanding ....ugh.... replay of the game, Magicman.  I could not have described it better myself ( minus the "magic wand" and stuff  ;)!!)

All-Time

SUNYAC POW should be Lawrence Coleman of the Red Hot Oneonta Red Dragons.
Oneonta goes 2-0 in beating Geneseo and Brockport on the road.
22 points and 11 rebounds against Geneseo and 33 points and 9 rebounds against Brockport.

All-Time.....Ask and you shall receive.........

MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Lawrence Coleman (JR)
Oneonta, Forward (Croton-on-Hudson, NY/Hendrick Hudson)
Led Oneonta to a 3-0 record last week including a weekend sweep at Geneseo and Brockport. Scored 67 points for the week including a career high 33 points in a come-from-behind win against Brockport. He scored the final 14 points of the game versus Brockport during a 21-6 run that gave the Red Dragons the win.

Just posted on Sunyac boards!!!!

Bengalsrule

Top 25 is out and 2 new schools get some Sunyac love!  Oneonta and Cortland chime in ( cortland went from 0 to 20 votes in a week). Oswego gets a little less love and my Bengals along with Geneseo are no where to be found. Thought that I would see the Cards somewhere but in 5 days they face both the Cortland Red Dragons and Oswego Lakers so this time next week there could be some more changes!

That's 5 Sunyac schools that have gotten at least a glimpse with Oswego being the standard bearer. Something tells me that Dave has been true to his word! 'Yac is getting some "rec"(ognition).

I have to agree with that. I initially looked at the Oswego game and then the Geneseo game and didn't think those 2 games were better than Kyle Richardson's 2 weekend games. I didn't know about the 33 point 9 rebound effort against Brockport at the time I stated that Kyle was the leading candidate for the POTW. I'm still trying to play catchup from the past weekend.

I see from reading more posts that Lawrence did in fact win the weekly award.

Congratulations to him on a great stretch to lead the Red Dragons to a 3-0 week, especially against the 3 teams that he played. 8-)

Still not a single mention for the team that's in 1st place in the conference. I'm not complaining, just pointing out what seems to be a bit of an aberration. Last week neither Cortland, Oneonta or Plattsburgh received a single point in the poll. Since then, Cortland plays 1 game, a blowout of the last place team in the conference and they get 20 points and are unofficially in the 31st spot. Plattsburgh goes 3-0, defeats Trinity College, a team that was ranked as high as #15, defeats Buffalo State, a team that was getting votes last week and also beats Fredonia State by a 32 point margin. The Cardinals don't receive a single point. They are 9-2 overall, 4-0 in the SUNYAC, alone in 1st place, own a road win over Oneonta (by 18 points) and have defended their home court (5-0).

I notice Scranton is #24 this week having dropped from the #21 spot. One of their 3 losses was at home to visiting Hobart. Buffalo State and Brockport State both beat Hobart and the Bengals did so by 20 points. Did I mention that Plattsburgh beat Buff State, who beat Hobart, who beat Scranton? I thought so. :)

I could point out a number of other teams that are receiving votes that I think are less deserving than Plattsburgh but I actually don't mind that my Cardinals are getting snubbed. I figure if things hold serve like they have, then the minute they get some love, they'll probably lose, just like every other YAC team has done when they have received votes or made it into the Top 25 (See Oswego ...twice)

Tough road trip for Plattsburgh this week at Oswego and Cortland. Glad we didn't get any votes since it seems to be a jinx. :D  I'm hoping we can win the first one against the Lakers so that Saturday's game will be 2 undefeated teams slugging it out for 1st place. (Unless Geneseo beats Cortland tonight or Potsdam wants to surprise everyone and pull off the upset against the Red Dragons on Friday night. I wouldn't mind that at all. ;))

Wow.  Not much else to say about that game last night ( and the 7 hour drive home afterwards :'( ).  My Bengals dug themselves a huge hole, but as always, fought back and had a chance to win.

The Bengal players have nothing to worry about. Any team that can come from behind like they can will be just fine. And they really didn't dig themselves a huge hole, the Cardinals were pretty hot in the first half. Shooting over 60% usually means you have a decent lead. Many teams get down 17 points and they pack it in, but not this Buffalo State team. Watching them overcome a 9 point deficit against New Jersey City with under 2 minutes to go in overtime and send it to another extra session for the win was all the proof I needed, that the Cardinals 17 point lead wasn't safe. The Bengals once again overcame that obstacle and took the lead.

There is one thing I believe that cost Buffalo State the game and it's something I witnessed in the New jersey City game and also against Plattsburgh. Both times at the end of regulation the Bengals allowed the opponents to get off a 3 point shot which they made and sent those games into overtime. Neither team should have been allowed to even take those three point shots. It almost cost you the game against New Jersey City and didn't, only because they did the same thing and allowed Buffalo State to get off a  game tying 3 pointer in the first overtime. But it did cost you against the Cardinals

You have to foul in those situations. You can't lose if they shoot free throws. When Lovell Smith got the touchdown pass from Redell Freeman and scored to go up by 3 points with under 10 seconds left, the Bengals should have fouled on the inbounds pass and put the Cardinals on the line. I'm convinced you win the game if you do that. I hope going forward that if that situation presents itself again, that the Bengals go with the odds and foul rather than let the opponents fire up another game tying 3 pointer. Don't let it burn you again.

Congrats to the Magicman ( and Mrs Magicman, whom the wife and I had an opportunity to meet)

It was a bit of a surprise to see you on Saturday, but not really a big one. You see, I told my wife that I found it hard to believe, knowing you have orange blood, that you were going to be in Albany and wouldn't just shoot up the Northway to catch the game. I knew that a silver tongued devil like yourself, would probably be able to talk Mrs. Bengalsrule into going along with a slight change of plans, that would mean a side trip to the 'Burgh. It was probably when you told her, that she would get a chance to meet the magicman, that finally convinced her to go along with your little scheme. How could she turn that down!! ???

Anyway I'm glad you met Mrs. magicman after all this time. She and I were both happy to meet Mrs Bengalsrule as well. It's nice to put a face on a name. It looks like we are both extremely lucky guys and chose wisely. 8-)

You have 2 tough games this weekend as we do, but at least yours are at home. Good luck.

That's four games and the voters prefer to measure with all 11. (Also, 11 games is not a lot to have played by this time.)

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference"!   I learned that 23 years ago.

One thing that lets me sleep good at night is never 2nd guess Coach Ansari! I have no desire to ever suggest how to play the last 4 seconds to coach Ansari or any of the other Bengals coaches!  I know there philosophy has been and always will be "get a stop". Always has been, always will be! Sometimes it works ( on most occasions it does) sometimes it doesn't.  I know that the Bengal staff is more concerned about going 19 of 33 from the charity stripe because that's something that they have more control over! If they go 20 for 33 then we don't have this conversation.

Something tells me that when my Bengals get back together today, coach Ansari will touch on the good and bad from the past weekends game for about 2 mins. And then focus the next 118 mins on getting ready for Brockport!  That's just the way things are done at 1300 Elmwood ave. and too be honest...I love it just like that!

Yes the Mrs was excited to meet the Magicman but MORE excited to meet Mrs Magicman!  I'm so glad that mrs Bengalsrule heard mrs Magicman talk about finding Magicman asleep at the computer  in the wee hours of the night.  I'm grateful too because now my wife knows that I'm not the only 1 who posts at 2 a.m. :-[.  Something tells me that the Mrs will share notes again in the future!

2 1/2 hour ride to Plattsburgh and then a 7 plus hour drive home to Buffalo afterwards, isnt my idea of how best to spend a Saturday, in Jan, however for my Bengals...it was worth with. Win or lose, those boys make a fella proud. Saturday wasn't any different!

P.s.  I guess that I'll never hear the story about the turtle and the pitchfork???
