Still not a single mention for the team that's in 1st place in the conference.

That's four games and the voters prefer to measure with all 11. (Also, 11 games is not a lot to have played by this time.)
Umm, would not most of the top 25 have played only 11 games (on average)?

A look at the Top 25 page would help you figure that out.

Brockport's Twitter has video of the buzzer beater that ended regulation:

A nice lucky bounce is important now and again, followed by a heads up shot.

pg04,
Thanks for posting this. It's one of the most improbable buzzer beaters I've ever seen. I'm sure it brought an awful big grin to your face. ;D

Paging Pat Coleman:  Pat you should add this one to the buzzer beaters page.

In my best Gildna Radner voice:  Nevermind...I see that you already have it on that page. I looked earlier today and it wasn't there. Glad to see you got it.

Especially given the importance of the game in the context of already having lost twice!

The video has been shared by deadspin and ESPN as well. Nice!

Congrats pg04 and pat Coleman.  I just ran into a colleague at the elevator at the Albany Hilton 10 mins ago.  He knows that I'm a big Buff State hoops fan. He asked me how the season was going then proceeded to tell me about the Brockport buzzer beater that he saw on espn.  Wow you guys work fast!

pg04

The shot ended up being #1 on Sportscenter's top 10! Big time baby!!!  ;D

Friday Jan. 15th.      All ten teams in action tonight.

Oneonta State  at  New Paltz State        7:30 PM

Travel partners headed in different directions. Oneonta is only a half game out of 1st place and with Plattsburgh taking on a hungry Laker team it's possible the Red Dragons could be in first place all by themselves later tonight, with a 5-1 record. A Cardinal loss would leave them with a 4-1 conference mark. Oneonta, with a win, is the only team other than Plattsburgh that could be in 1st place when today's action is over.

The Hawks are spiraling downward and just can't seem to put it all together. They did come close last time out in Geneseo, so the talent is there to pull off the upset. Tied with the Knights at 64 each with 1:43 to play the Hawks sent Geneseo to the line and the Knights made a pair to go up by 2. The Hawks then misfired, and Geneseo buried a 3 pointer to go up by 5. The Hawks missed again, had to foul and that was your ballgame.

These teams have went 6-6 over the past 6 years (oh-oh 666 where are the Blue Devils when you need them) but Oneonta has won the last 4 meetings. The Oddsmakers have made Oneonta a 19 point road favorite in this one and it could be a bigger margin than that. Red Dragons win going away by an 88-62 final score.

Geneseo State  at  Fredonia State        7:30 PM

Geneseo still smarting over the Blue Devils last encounter with the Knights. Looking to get their SUNYAC campaign off to a solid start 10 days ago at home, the Knights got submarined by Fredonia to the tune of an 89-86 upset. I doubt the Knights will be looking past the Blue Devils this time, even with Buffalo State as their next stop. A tough win over Cortland on Tuesday evened their record in the YAC at 2-2. I'll go out on a limb here and say if the Knights lose this game tonight, they won't make the SUNYAC playoffs.

Having said that I don't expect them to lose this game and neither do the oddsmakers. They have installed the Knights as a 9 point favorite and I think the revenge factor will make the margin here, well into double digits. Fredonia was brought back to reality last weekend against Plattsburgh as the Cardinals roughed them up pretty good. I look for the Knights to get some pretty good payback. Geneseo 87 Fredonia 68.

Potsdam State  at  Cortland State        7:30 PM

This is the third mismatch of the night as the Bears just don't have the horses to stay with these Red Dragons. And Cortland is feeling angry as well, having let one slip away the other night against Geneseo. Cortland has an outside chance of winding up back in first place after tonight's games. They need Oneonta and Plattsburgh to both lose and they would be tied with the Cardinals heading into their big showdown on Saturday afternoon. I know the Cardinals are totally focused on Oswego and Cortland needs to have the Bears front and center when they invade Corey Gym tonight. Potsdam may be 1-10 but they have nothing to lose and if they can keep the score close then funny things can happen.

The oddsmakers also see this game with a hefty margin as the Red Dragons are favored by the biggest spread of the night at 20 points. Hard to argue with that as the seniors on this Bear's team have never known the feeling of beating Cortland. The last time Potsdam defeated Cortland was almost 5 years ago as Cortland has won 9 straight in this series. I hope I'm wrong but I see Cortland winning this one by an 83-61 final.

Brockport State  at  Buffalo State        7:30 PM   Co-Featured Game of the Day

If it feels like these two teams just met it's because they did. And apparently didn't get enough of each other a short time ago when the Bengals came away with a win in Brockport. Now the Golden Eagles will try and reverse that trend. Both teams coming off barnburners of the first order but with different outcomes as the Eagles are still living la dolce vita. The most improbable buzzer beater of the year occurred against Oswego on Tuesday to send that game into overtime and enabled Brockport to walk out of Laker Hall with a W. The results of that game were seen and heard far and wide as it was #1 on Sportscenter's Top 10.

The Bengals experienced a different ending in Plattsburgh as they allowed the Cardinals to come from behind and get to overtime. Plattsburgh then won going away in the extra session, sending the Bengals back to Buffalo with a 1-1 weekend, when 2-0 looked so promising.

The Bengals finally put an end to that 8 game winning streak last year, that Brockport had compiled over the past 4 years, but are only 9-2 versus the Eagles going into tonight's game, since their Sweet 16 season of 2010-11. The Bengals are now looking to start a streak of their own. The Eagles, for their part, know they can win in the Queen City, having done so for 4 straight years. The point spread favors the Bengals by a slim 4 points and while I won't be surprised if the Eagles win this game I think that Buffalo State has been the better team this year. I've said it before, Buffalo State is so very close to being an undefeated team that I almost consider them in that light. If they were 12-0 instead of 9-3, they would have been the SUNYAC team most likely ranked in the D3hoops Top 25 instead of the Lakers. So I'm taking the Bengals to sweep the Golden Eagles in the season series by a score of 78-75. These teams could meet for a 3rd time down the road, as they have done so, in 2 of the past 4 years.

Plattsburgh State  at  Oswego State        7:30 PM      Co-Featured Game of the Day

This is not a good time for any team to be venturing into Laker Hall. The improbable ending to what looked like a sure Oswego State win on Tuesday night against Brockport has left the Lakers plenty desperate and in need of a conference win to get back on track. I'm pretty sure that you would be hard pressed, to find anyone that would tell you, they expected Oswego to be 1-3 and in 8th place at this stage of the game. I wish that Plattsburgh was facing the Lakers on the 2nd day of the weekend swing instead of tonight.

Plattsburgh is riding high at the moment, with a conference best 5 game winning streak, the only undefeated team in the YAC at 4-0 and tied with Cortland with the best overall record at 9-2. In other words, things are too good to be true. I get a nervous feeling when that happens. Too many times I've seen that ride come to a screeching halt. And it's not like Oswego is an 8th place team. They are after all the defending champs, and beat Plattsburgh, in Plattsburgh, last February, to claim that honor. They also returned a lot more talent than the Cardinals did. Oswego is 7-0 out of the conference and granted it wasn't the toughest of OOC schedules but they did beat Middlebury on a neutral court and the Panthers manhandled the Cardinals.(Plattsburgh excuses...they were shorthanded, it was finals week and it was in Middlebury)

I'm hoping that Plattsburgh would like a little revenge for the screeching halt that happened to their season last February, when they were denied a 3rd straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, compliments of the Lakers. The Cardinals won 2 of 3 last year but the one they lost was the all important one.

Oswego will get their act together, after all it's no big deal to lose to Buff State on the road. Lots of teams will do that this year. And dropping the buzzer beater to Brockport was just the basketball gods giving you the business. The loss to Oneonta is the puzzler, not because they lost but because they were never in that game, and I'll be surprised if you see that kind of result again, from this Laker team. For now the Lakers have one mission and that's to protect their home court this weekend. 3-3 on Saturday evening will go a long way toward getting healthy.

The oddsmakers have made the Lakers a home dog as they favor the Cardinals by a 4 point margin. I said I'd be happy if my Cardinals go 1-1 this weekend, because they would still be in first place when they came home. I'd sure like to get the 1 on the plus side right off the bat and not have to face Cortland tomorrow already down a game on the trip. So despite all my misgivings and dire feelings, you all knew I was going to pick the Cardinals anyway. A day may come when I won't pick the Cardinals to win, but it is not this day. This day they gain a measure of revenge and win by a score of 73-69.  I hope.

Buffalo St and the Eagles should be a barnburner as Magicman has said. The Eagles just accomplished the 2 things they needed to bring home a victory. Hopefully they can do it twice in a row;(1) shoot foul shots down the stretch and(2) finish a game on both ends of the floor. Go Eagles!!!

OMG.   I hope that the Bengal coaches don't read this!!!  >:(  FWIW....We actually split last year winning 85-69 at Brockport on 1/16/15.  Just saying! :-\
