Plattsburgh certainly seems to be the class of SUNYAC in this early point of the conference schedule, especially given their earlier win against Oneonta. Be interesting to see the Cortland matchup, but I think Plattsburgh should be able to pull that one off as well.

Congrats to the Eagles--keeping the Bengals at bay. It appears that they are maturing and learning the fine points of closing out games. Keep the focus--Pg04--I think they have arrived!!!

Looking forward to following along. Keep the focus indeed as they head down I-90!

I also think it was important for them to get a win after all the national attention. Shows they are able to keep that focus!

There are a whole lotta Red Dragons rooting for a Cortland win this afternoon in their matchup with Plattsburgh State. And it's not just the flying serpents hanging out around Cortland NY. There are a bunch of relatives swarming the skies over Oneonta NY that want to see the Cardinals go down as well.

Plattsburgh State is 5-0 and leading the SUNYAC and if they lose to Cortland State, later today, these Red Dragons, currently 4-1, would then have an identical 5-1 record as the Cardinals.

The Red Dragon variety that's been rocking the freeworld in Oneonta, is loafing today, after disposing of their travel partners last night, to move to that 5-1 mark that their brethren in Cortland aspire to reach. There is nothing like a three way...tie that is... for the top spot, or so these Red Dragons would have you believe.

I'm hoping the Cardinals can show all these big, red, flying, firebreathers, that there are 50 Shades of Red, and that Cardinal Red is the Dominant Shade. After all 6-0 sounds so much better than 5-1, and there's only one team in this threesome that can be 6-0. ;)

Congrats indeed.  Thought that a couple of hours at my favorite casino, after this debacle of a game, would get rid of the post Brockport as-whupping taste in my month, that we took tonight!  I was wrong.  6 hours later that loss still taste like crap!

Not much went right tonight.  Late run by brockport before the half took a lot of the wind out of my Bengals sails! Trying to fight back, just wasn't in the cards tonight!  Would like to sit around for a pity party (not) but that ain't the Buff State way!  Geneseo arrives in less than 13 hours and a 0-2 weekend ain't the way to spend this 3 day weekend!  Gotta get the Bengals act together or we will be spending the last week of the season trying to figure out tie breakers....or worse.  I still believe!

Go BENGALS !!!

Magicman, There is NO WAY PLATTSBURGH loses to Cortland today. Absolutely no way. You won't need to bring out the MAGIC WAND.
They win by double digits

4 Games on Tap today in the SUNYAC

Did THE SHOT against Oswego, give this Brockport group the swagger they desperately needed to compete at a different level?
It certainly looks that way.

Brockport all over Fredonia

Plattsburgh already playing at that level beats up on Cortland by double digits.

Oswego desperately in need of a victory gets it against Potsdam.

Buffalo State takes their frustration out on Geneseo today and wins by double digits.

Enjoy the games

Saturday Jan. 16th       4 games scheduled today with Oneonta State and New Paltz State idle.

Geneseo State   at     Buffalo State      4:00 PM

The Knights have won 3 conference games in a row after dropping their first 2 and have moved ahead of Buffalo State into the 4th place position. The Bengals were in 2nd place but back to back losses have altered their fortunes and they now sit in the 6th and final playoff spot. What a difference a week makes, especially in the YAC.

The Knights have owned the Bengals for the past 4 years, winning 6 in a row at one point, before Buff St. ended that streak last January. Geneseo captured the 2nd meeting between the teams last year as they look to start a new winning streak.

The Bengals are favored in today's matchup by a 5 point margin and I think they get back on the winning path. If they lose today's game their ability to make the playoffs could be seriously compromised. Home court protection is a must in the YAC, and with a third loss at home, the Bengals would not be in a good position. I still think the talent level of the Bengals is better than most teams in the YAC. Time for that talent to shine. Bengals win this one by an 88-81 final score.

Brockport State   at  Fredonia State      4:00 PM

The Golden Eagles looking to complete the rare Western New York weekend sweep. The hard part is over with but the Blue Devils can still surprise. Not much chance of Coach Dunne allowing the team to have a letdown here, though. The payback delivered to the Bengals yesterday was just what the Doctor ordered for the Green and Gold. The Eagles will be a tough team to deal with as the conference heats up.

The point spread in this one has the Eagles favored by 11. I don't think it will be that close. Brockport has won 5 of the past 6 meetings and I see it becoming 6 of 7.  Brockport 82 Fredonia 65.

Potsdam State    at  Oswego State      4:00 PM

The Lakers are reeling right now and the one team that can give them a respite are the Bears. Potsdam's struggles continue and they will be hard pressed to win a 2nd game in the talented SUNYAC this season. The oddsmakers have the Lakers favored by 18 and they should cover that spread. Notice I said should. The Bears will treat every game like it's a playoff game because they have nothing to lose. The Lakers will have to regroup in a hurry or this season is over with a loss today. Oswego should regroup and win this one by a comfortable margin. Lakers 77 Bears 64.

The SUNYAC Featured Game of the Week

Plattsburgh State  at  Cortland State      4:00 PM

Redbirds versus Red Dragons in a battle for first place. A Cortland victory would give them a slight edge over Plattsburgh as the head to head win would temporarily give them a tiebreaking bonus.

No two teams have had a closer rivalry in the Yac over the past nine years than this pair. Plattsburgh has won 3 of the last 4 meetings but the teams are 9-9 over that 9 year stretch. This year looks to be no different. Home court really hasn't mattered much either with each team winning on the others floor season and in previous seasons as well.

The Cardinals with their perfect conference mark, have been selected by the oddsmakers as the team to beat n today's contest. They are listed as a 3 point road favorite.

It's so hard for a team, no matter how talented they are, to make the Central New York trip and come away with 2 wins. I'm hoping my Cardinals are up to the task. Plattsburgh keep the streak alive and wins this one by an 84-79 final score.

Looks like the letdown is being allowed through the first half. Brockport down 40-36 at the half.

Plattsburgh Leads Cortland by a 41-30 score at the break.

Cardinals off and running as they open up a 9-0 lead on 5 quick points by Kyle Richardson. Redbirds screech to a halt as Richardson picks up 2 fouls in 12 seconds and has to go to the bench with 16:11 left in the first period. Replacement Jon Patron enters the game and proceeds to score 5 quick points to restore an even keel to the Cards. Plattsburgh leads by double digits for most of the period.

Red Dragons will come back they usually do.

Plattsburgh led by Xavier Thomas with 10 points and Jon Patron also with 10. Ed Correa has 6 and Kyle Richardson and Eli Bryant with 5 each.

JP Reagan tops the Red Dragons with 11 points.

pg04

6-17 free throws for Brockport so far. Unacceptable for a youth team let alone a College team.

Genseso leads Buffalo State 34-29 at the break and has opened up a bigger lead in the start of the 2nd half. Now up by a 57-44 margin with 12:25 left in the game. Bengals  need another big comeback from another big hole.

John Decker and Justin Ringen both with 14 points so far. Charlie Zaepfel with 10

Lovell Smith with 12 to lead the Bengals and Nico McLean has 10.

Potsdam giving Oswego all it can handle as the Bears come back from early deficit to take a 3 point 40-37 halftime lead.

Oswego has finally regained the lead and now is up 57-56 with 10 minutes to go in the game.

Mitch Lamerson with 14 and Dante Langley with 10 for Potsdam

Brian Sortino with 15 and Alex Rawa with 14 to lead the Lakers.
