As you know I have been reading your posts for years.
I'm your biggest fan.
No question about it, you were the ONE that told all of us that Oswego got a big time transfer in Krecko.
I just got excited when I was watching the Oswego win over Brockport the other night. This kid can play and Oswego will definitely be a factor in the SUNYAC playoffs if this kid continues to play the way he played the other night.
I do apologize for not giving you A CALL OUT when I posted the other night.
It won't happen again ;D

All-Time
Duly noted. :D

I just thought that you may not have been on the boards at the time I posted that stuff about Krecko because it was so early in the season and never spotted it. So, I gave you an out and you didn't take it. What a guy ;D  No apology necessary. 8-)

Slight change of schedule to this weekend's SUNYAC games.

The Geneseo State at Plattsburgh State game scheduled for Friday evening has been postponed and will take place on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM The Women's game will follow at 5:00 PM.

The Geneseo game against Potsdam scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM has been pushed back to 5:30 PM and the Women's game will follow at 7:30 PM.

So Geneseo and Plattsburgh will have Saturday and a rare Sunday game while all others will have the standard Friday night, Saturday afternoon games, with a slightly later start between Geneseo and Potsdam.

In addition to these weekend changes, the Cortland at Geneseo game that was postponed last Tuesday has been rescheduled and will take place this coming Tuesday January 26th. It will start at 7:30 PM as usual. The Women's game will start at the normal time of 5:30 PM.

It isn't easy to coach at any level. It is a joy to coach Division III says many a coach. Some enjoy it on their way up the ladder, others on their way closer to retirement, and others as their passion.

Tonight on Hoopsville we talk to many coaches in different aspects of their careers with varying teams who are succeeding on the court and off of it because of what coaching has taught them including facing the challenges no one should face especially off the court.

Hoopsville hits the air tonight at 7:00 pm ET with a jam packed show. Talking to programs who are leading their conferences or in the hunt facing the challenge that not everyone expect them to be competitive. We also talk to a few coaches who are taking care of more than Xs and Os. They are taking care of their team after a horrific circumstance of a player's murder or looking out of their own battling cancer.

You can watch the show starting at 7pm ET tonight right here: http://www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville/archives/2015-16/jan21

Guests include (in order):
- Scott Hemer, SUNY Geneseo women's coach
- Chris Downs, St. Lawrence men's coach
- Dan Priest, Kenyon men's coach (NABC Coach's Corner)
- Guy Rancourt, Lycoming men's coach

Friday January 22nd

Only three games on tap today because of the Plattsburgh State-Geneseo State postponement from today until Sunday.

Fredonia State  at  New Paltz State        7:30 PM

The Blue Devils have certainly improved since the early part of the season and now appear to be a  threat to any team that they face. The Hawks meanwhile have struggled as their losing streak has now reached 11 games. Help is on the way but it's not the kind that will be beneficial to the Hawks as Ian Helps and his Blue Devil brothers will try to keep the Hawks winless in the YAC.

The Hawks have owned Fredonia over the past 5 years compiling a 9-1 record against them but the oddsmakers think the tide has turned and installed the Blue Devils as a 5 point road favorite. I think that Helps, if he comes close to duplicating his effort last time out (22 pts and 15 reb), will be a load, to heavy to handle, for New Paltz and will make them pay in the paint. Fredonia keeps their hopes for a playoff spot alive by winning this one 75-68.

Buffalo State  at  Oneonta State        7:30 PM    Featured Game of the Night

Somewhere between Brockport and Buffalo the Bengals lost their mojo. How else can you explain a team that won back to back to back games over 3 very good teams, all on the road, only to follow up that string of victories with a lackadaisical effort against Potsdam and then drop 3 games in a row. Granted, all three of their losses were to some of the top teams in the YAC but two of those defeats came at home and we all know how important it is to protect your own house, especially in this conference, with the long road trips. The Bengals were playing catch up in every one of those losses and yet, they were the ones that got caught.

I've seen this act before, from other talented Buffalo State teams. Look great in stretches, then struggle and drop key games that force them to mount a stretch drive that comes up just short, or sends them on the road to a top seed, instead of playing in the comforts of home, come playoff time. Then it's one and done, wait'll next year. There is simply too much talent on this team for that too happen...yet it is occurring again... like a bad dream. Last time out they didn't play from behind, but they blew a late game, double digit lead, allowing Fredonia to force overtime. They prevailed in the extra session but nearly losing at home to one of the lower placed teams in the YAC doesn't bode well.

The Red Dragons on the other hand have been a big surprise in the conference as they sit all alone in 2nd place with a 5-1 record and a full 1 game lead over Geneseo and Cortland, who are tied for 3rd. If they are no  worse than 7-2 after the first time through the conference, they will be in great shape for a run at the top seed, I believe. To do that they will have to take care of business this weekend and at least split next week's tough road trip at Cortland and Oswego. (They will actually be 8-2 if they do that having already faced Oswego in a single game earlier.)

These teams have split the season series for the last 3 years with the home team winning every game. Oneonta has lost in Buffalo by double digits all 3 games but managed to win close games at home.

The oddsmakers like the Red Dragons here, as they are favored by a 7 point margin. Bengals seem to play better on the road only losing in OT at Plattsburgh. I really have a nagging feeling that the Bengals are going to snap out of their funk tonight and help out my Cardinals by winning this game. The problem is that they have burned me too much recently, for me to chose them to do that. I think the Red Dragons, who have proven they are prime time players, will do just as they have for the past 3 seasons and win a close one here at home by an 87-83 final score. But I hope I'm wrong about that.

Brockport State  at  Potsdam State        7:30 PM

Which Potsdam State team will show up tonight. If it's the one who played like giant killers last Tuesday, then the Golden Eagles will have their hands full. It will be easy for Brockport to be focused on their big matchup tomorrow with Plattsburgh State, but if they look too far ahead they won't like what they find kicking them in the rear.

The Bears have nothing to lose. At this stage they are playing for pride and a chance to break into the SUNYAC  win column. No miracle is going to happen that will all of a sudden make this team playoff contenders. They will finish in 9th or 10th place in the final standings but a win over a top program like Brockport will go a long way in easing some of the disappointments of a long losing season. The Bears' losing streak is 7 games and now longer than the one they opened the season with.

Brockport has been made a heavy 15 point road favorite tonight and on paper there is no way you can pick the Bears to win this game. So I won't, but I can hope my alma mater has visions of days gone by and does pull off an upset here. The Eagles have won 9 straight games in this series and you have to go all the way back to January 7th, 2011 for the Bears last win over the Green and Gold. Port has already lost a game they should have won and it could cost them dearly as they are now tied for the 6th and final playoff spot. They are better than that and will win tonight's game by an 82-70 final score.

I'm thinking that with this game tonight, at Oneonta , which has been horrible for us over the years, i just need to shut the h--l up!

Go BENGALS!

Brockport doubling up Potsdam 52-24 at the half.

Clifton Lyerly with 14 points for the Golden Eagles.
Hamed Shamseldin and Devonn Gavin with 9 each
Levi Pace with 6 points and 7 boards.

Nosa Onabor with 8 points to lead the Bears.

Plattsburgh must have brought out the best in Potsdam because this result is pretty anemic. This game is over already. Now Coach Dunne can rest his regulars in anticipation of tomorrow's battle with Plattsburgh. Good thing too because Plattsburgh got the night off and will be fresh instead of having a tough battle with Geneseo tonight.

Oneonta leads Buffalo State 44 -35  at the half. Oneonta gained the upper hand about halfway through the period when, tied at 18, the Red Dragons outscored the Bengals 11-1, to open up a 29-19 lead.

Live stats on the blink so no totals.

New Paltz 20 minutes from their first conference win as they are ahead of Fredonia 40-33 at halftime.

Nick Paquette leads the Hawks with 10 points and RJ Rosa has 8.

Ian Helps with 16 for the Blue Devils and Kareem Brown with 10.

Fredonia comes from behind to defeat New Paltz by a 66-64 final score.

Ian Helps scores on a layup with 1:02 left to play to put Fredonia in front. The Hawks had 2 possessions to score  or take the lead but missed a layup with 45 seconds left and missed a 3 point attempt at the buzzer.

Helps leads the Blue Devils with 26 points and 15 rebounds which are game highs in both categories. I said Helps would be too much for the Hawks to handle and if he duplicated his efforts of his last game they would win. Looks like he had just enough gas in his tank to pull out the W.

Kareem Browm had 14 points and 4 rebounds.

Nick Paquette had 14 points and 5 rebounds to lead the Hawks.  RJ Rosa had 10 points 5 assissts and 4 steals.

Brockport 95   Potsdam 58

Golden Eagles up by 28 at the half, cruise to the 37 point victory. Potsdam up 2-0 for their only lead of the game. Brockport scored the next 9 points and the Eagles were off to the races. All 16 men for Brockport saw action with the reserves getting 129 minutes to only 71 for the starters. Brockport won't be any worse for wear than if they had put in a solid day of practice before the game with Plattsburgh.

Brockport's top pair once again led the team as Clifton Lyerly and Hamed Shamseldin both had 14 points. Levi Pace led the team with 8 rebounds and had 6 points. Devonn Gavin had 12 points and Josh Nelson had 9.

Nosa Onabor led the Bears with 15 points and 4 rebounds. Tyrons Adeyeye had 11 points.

Bears got killed on the boards 40-25 and had 28 turnovers to only 14 for Brockport.
