magic - I was just giving you a hard time... I suspect the issue might have been your video player? Not sure. Refresh might have cleared it up. No worries, maybe your computer realized it was going to be my mug on the screen again and refused to play the video in fear you would stroke out seeing me. LOL

As for Rochester v NYU... when you start to dive into their numbers, hard to argue Rochester should have stayed ahead of NYU. Just in out-of-conference, neither had great wins. If Rochester had one significant win out of conference, the conversation would have been different.

As for LBC - I was just adding my thoughts. I saw yours :)

I heard from other people who had trouble with the NCAA's video player as well. Something about permissions and updating a plug-in.

Thanks for letting me know about that Pat. I kept closing my link and bringing up another fresh page but each time the NCAA page came up there was nothing there but a black screen with the NCAA logo on it. Same thing for the women's show a few hours later. Glad to know it wasn't just me. Crazy because I haven't had any trouble bringing up countless webcasts of D3 games all season long.

Let's not give magicman any slack... he screwed this up... he knows it. LOL

Actually, I warned people I would break the stream... I guess I was right!

Well, when you have geared your entire Monday to the D3 NCAA selection show, got your sheet ready with hand made brackets all set to fill in as the teams are announced, talked the wife  into running the store for you that day so you could enjoy the selection show (and then get right into the draft of our NCAA Fantasy League), pull up the link, wait for the scheduled time for the show to begin, and when that arrives and nothing happens, you assume they are running late.

Then as I'm typing a reply on the SUNYAC board, waiting to hear Dave McHugh's dulcet tones to let me know that the video is on, I see a post from Bengalsrule that Plattsburgh is hosting and we have drawn Fitchburg State. What in hell is going on. ??? Where's the show. ??? Panic sets in as you know they are announcing teams, and you're missing the action. :o

Get rid of the window, go back to the D3hoops page click on the link again and find a black screen once more. Repeat the process. Bypass the D3hoops link and go straight to the NCAA website I have stored in my favorites file. By the time I get the right page up it says this show is over. So yeah, I think I screwed up and can't figure out why or how. I've seen every selection show for quite a few years with no problems. So I call Coach Curle and he gives me the rundown on the SUNYAC teams as he berates me for missing the show. :-[  Well done magicman, well done. :(

So I need all the slack I can find. ::)

Hahahaha... loved that read. Well done, Magic. My dulcet tones were screwed up in the men's show... so you didn't miss anything. I was much more dulcet on the women's show. LOL

I did get to the video but I thought it was screwed up because of Dave's issues so I figured it was on my end and gave up, waiting for the announcement here LOL

That's cause you and Pat stayed up way to late projecting the Pool C picks and making brackets. You're really going to be in trouble if the NCAA decides to bump it to Selection Sunday instead of Monday. You'll being doing the show on no sleep, instead of the 5 hours that you got. ;D

Well the first game of the NCAA tournament is in the books as Hardin-Simmons U defeats Texas Lutheran   97-81.

It's NCAA Tournament Day    Here's What's On The Schedule

Cortland  vs WPI  at Amherst College 5:30 PM

The Red Dragons will be able to play with this team. In fact the oddsmakers have made Cortland a slim 1 point favorite. This is the first meeting ever between the two schools.  WPI will field a lineup comparable in size to Cortland. They do have a 7'3" player on the team but he will be seated on the bench throughout the game as he has only played 17 minutes all year long. WPI, in the only game I saw them play, struggled from the field in a 58-50 win over MIT. They were 20 x63 (31.7%). Cortland has made over 100 more 3 point baskets than the Engineers have on the season. That could be the difference in today's game. If Blair Estarfaa, TJ Hefele, Carrell Joseph and JP Reagan can light it up today like they did last weekend, then Cortland should be in fine shape. I'm taking the Red Dragons to win this one by a final score of 73-68.

Delaware Valley  vs  Oswego State     at Marietta   5:00 P

The Lakers get a favorable matchup today as well. Delaware Valley is the winner of the MAC Freedom conference and the Aggies posted a 20-7 record on the year. The closest game that gives us an inkling about this team is a 78-64loss they had at Trinity (Ct) back on December 31st.  Trinity, of course, is at Plattsburgh today playing in the first game against Johnson and Wales. The Bantams lost to Plattsburgh bacl in January by an 81-73 score and of course we know how Oswego fared against the Cardinals.

The oddsmakers have the Lakers listed as a 6 point favorite in this one. It is also the first time these schools have ever met. The Aggies leading scorer Chris Moran (19.5 ppg) didn't fare well against Trinity's big men, only scoring 8 points. He may find the going just as tough today trying to get by Mykelle Krecko and mark Candelario. Oswego should have a size advantage and the advantage from behind the arc. Brian Sortino will prove to be more than they can handle. The Lakers win this one by a 83-70 final score.

Fitchburg State at #23 Plattsburgh State 7:30 PM

The battle of the Burgs in the 'Burgh. I'd feel a whole lot better about this contest if we had our 2nd best scoring option and rebounder suiting up for the game. But you can't change what's happened and the Cardinals need to move forward, hoping that other players will take advantage of the opportunity to shine. The talent is there and guys like Chris Middleton, Ian Howard, Brandon Johnson and Isaiah Johnson will see an increase in their playing time to offset the Cardinals' loss.

The Fitchburg State Falcons beat Bridgewater State, a  fellow MASCAC conference member, twice this season and Bridgewater State took Brockport to the limit before falling to the Golden Eagles 100-95 in triple overtime during the Chrisrmas break.  The Falcons also own a win over WPI 57-56 back when the Engineers were highly ranked in the D3hoops Top 25. The Engineers were still being ranked last week at #24. Yes that's the same WPI team that Cortland is listed as a 1 point favorite over and playing today.

Plattsburgh is listed as a 10 point favorite in today's contest which I think will be a high scoring affair.
The Falcons have a 6'9' starter, but overall the teams match up fairly well in size. I think the Cardinals will prevail here as their athleticism may be a  bit more than the Falcons are used to. Plattsburgh wins this one 85-73.

Other East Region Games

Lancaster Bible vs Wooster   at Catholic University  7:00 PM

Wooster is a slight favorite here but I'm taking the Chargers to remain perfect with a 87-84 win.

Skidmore  vs Franklin and Marshall  at Tufts University  5:30 PM

I think the Throughbreds will be at a disadvantage here without their preseason All American. The Diplomats are a 5 point favorite and while I don't rule out a Skidmore win here I just don't think it will happen. F & M wins this one 77-70. But I sure hope I'm wrong.

Hartwick vs  Babson    at Susquehanna   5:30 PM

The Hawks have drawn the toughest opponent of any of the East Region teams in my opinion. The oddsmakers have only made them a 3 point underdog but I'll be surprised if they can keep it that close. Babson was a Final Four team last year and return a lot of parts from that team. Joey Flannery is a candidate for D3 Player of the Year. I think that Babason wins this one by an 89-81 final score. Hope I'm wrong here as well, even though I got Joey Flannery's teammate on a fantasy team somewhere.  :D

NYU  vs  Brooklyn College  5:30 at Christopher Newport

The Violets play a crosstown college several hundred miles away. The schools have only met once before despite both being in the Big Apple and that was an NYU win. The Violets are favored again today by a 4 point margin. It wouldn't surprise me to see Brooklyn College win this game and if they hadn't lost Edon Gjonbalaj in January I would be choosing. The other Gjongalaj is still on the team..Egzon Gjonbalaj and is the leading scorer, but one without the other won't get the job done. I am rooting for the Brooklyn team though despite NYU being an East Region team. I just don't feel they should be dancing. In fact as I sit here I'm changing my mind...one Gjongalaj might just be enough. Brooklyn College wins 88-84. ;D

pg04

If only I could get so many windows open at once and have them all work  ;D

pg04

Very sloppy start for Oswego and Del Val. Del Val leads 16-13 about 8 minutes in.

pg04

Del Val 36
Oswego 32
Halftime

DV has used full court press successfully many times and there have been at least 3 times where Oswego was in position for a rebound but were too lackadaisical to get to the loose ball. Some very sloppy moments.

Statistically,  Sortino has 12 points (3-3 from 3 point range and 3-4 Free Throws). He also has two rebounds but 3 turnovers.

Oswego as a whole has 14 (!) turnovers through one half.
