Magicman.....see you are as busy as ever on this board.  Seems that 7express needs us to join the pick 'm board in the LEC.  I just joined after the NESCAC Fall sports are in the books.  Was going to call you on the matter but figure it was cheaper this way.
Been chatting with Middhoops over on the LEC board as the Middlebury fans...Vandy74, Middhoops and Bucket.. were at the ECSU Tourny in  Williamatic, CT.  Midd won the event and should give Plattsburgh a battle this year in my bias opinion.
FYI, Amherst beat St. Lawrence in LeFrak this past Saturday in the title match.  Will be interesting to see how your team will do against them later in the month.  Looks like Midd and Amherst are among the favorite for the CAC title and St. Lawrence in their conference. Anyway, as you may already be aware, Bowdoin is among the title challengers in the CAC in WBB but both Tufts and Amherst are presently rated higher nationally.
Have a  warm Thanksgiving all.  See it is been snowing hard in NYState :).

Middlebury defeats New Paltz 94-62.

I said the Panthers would win by a 91-62 final score. I'm gonna have a few words with Perry Delorenzo when he and his Panthers come to Plattsburgh on Valentines day to take on the Cardinals. His basket with just over a minute remaining was the final points the Panthers put up on the scoreboard. He misses that shot and 1 of his two free throws seconds earlier and I have a perfect score. Damn man. :o ??? ::)

Matt St. Amour led the Panthers with 27 points. Zach Baines and Eric McCord each had 12 markers, while Baines had 6 boards and McCord had 8. Adisa Majors had 11 points and Nick Tarantino led the Vermont team with 9 rebounds.

Dylan Balducci led the Hawks with 12 points and Nick Arthur has 10 points. Arthur had 4 rebounds and tied for the team high with 3 other players.

Middlebury improves to 3-0 and will be back in action on Sunday 11-27 as they host Endicott at 2:00 PM

New Paltz 0-4 will return to the hardwood on Tuesday Nov 29th when they travel to Springfield for a 7:00 PM  matchup.

Yes, my friend, it's that time of year. Last week was a fun filled week full of live action on Tuesday in Potsdam for the Plattsburgh State-Clarkson game, then down to Albany for the Univ. Albany-Oneonta State  game on Wednesday. Live internet action on Thursday followed by more live courtside action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Cardinal Classic, here in Plattsburgh. My Cardinals won all 3 games by double figures and the first one on Tuesday was an early birthday present for me.

Saw that the Middlebury boys went to the tourney in Willimantic after you set them straight as to where they were actually going to go. :D Actually have to respond to middhoops from a PM he sent me a week or so ago. Been to busy to even answer my mail. I'm actually watching the Middlebury-New Paltz game as I type this. Middlebury up by 39 points 90-51. The Panthers and Cardinals will have a heck of a game on Valentines Day here in Plattsburgh. I hope they both are near the top of their respective leagues when that battle takes place. You may not know this but in the Undefeated and Winless contest my team to go undefeated the longest is your Amherst Lord Jeffs. If they can get by Babson next month I may be safe for a while.

Tufts just got stronger as Vincent Pace returns to action tonight for the Jumbos. he leads all scorers at halftime with 11 points.

Saw that Amherst handled SLU rather easily over the weekend. SLU doesn't have much of an interior game and were at a decided disadvantage against the LJ's. My Cardinals should be too athletic for them. Plus the new top assistant at Plattsburgh State, a former player here for Coach Curle a few years ago, was the top assistant at SLU last year. He knows that team inside and out. Coach Curle's longtime assistant of 11 years, Cameron Conover, is now the new head coach at Oneonta State. So Curle went and got Chris Manning who was the Cardinal point guard in 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. Chris led the nation in steals one year and steals per game the next year.

I won't be playing in the LEC pick ems this year. Cut back on the number of Fantasy teams I'm in. Too many things to do at my house and business this year. Just doing the National Pick Em League weekly contest and the NCAA Fantasy league at the end of the regular season.

The Bowdoin women will be competitive that's for sure but don't think they have the horses (size) to get past Amherst and Tufts. May need an at large bid to go dancing again. Hope they get it as Ms. Curle is a senior and would like her to go out in style.

Yes we finally got some snow on Sunday. 60 degrees and sunny on Saturday. 30 degrees and snow on Sunday. Such is life in the North Country. ::) Can't complain though as it's been a very mild fall up here. I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Oswego State defeats Clarkson in overtime 72-71. It wouldn't have surprised me if Clarkson pulled off the upset here. Clearly, the Lakers aren't in mid-season form. They should have won this game by double figures.

Oneonta trying to comeback from a 10 point deficit now trails by a 65-61 score and Mikey McElroy on the line.

He makes the first one  and makes the 2nd to narrow the gap to 65-63 with 3 :40 to go.

Ryan scores for Fisher but Oneonta's Jack Kolosky scores to answer and it's still a 2 point game 67-65.

Fisher gets two free throws to go back up by 4 points and McElroy drives, scores and is fouled, He misses the free throw and it's now 69-67.

Fisher's Height  scores and Keegan scores for Oneonta to make the score 71-69 with 1:49 to go . Time out by Fisher. 1:26 to go

Fisher misses a 3 pointer and Oneonta grabs the rebound and calls  time out.

Coleman drives for a layup and misses and is called for a foul fighting for the rebound.

Fisher hits both free throws and the lead is 4 points.

Kelly drives to the basket scores and is fouled with 57 seconds left. He misses the free throw and the lead is 2 and Fisher with the ball.

Fisher's English drives and misses but a foul is called on McElroy. English makes both free trows and the score is 75-71 with 35 seconds left.

Oneonta misses on a drive and another foul is called on Deegan. Fisher's Hare make them both and the lead is 6 points. Oneonta misses a 3 pointer and Fisher gets a breakaway and a throwdown to make it an 8 point lead. Kelly gets fouled with 6 seconds left. he makes them both but this game is over. The Red Dragons foul on the inbound pass and English makes 1 of 2. Kelly makes a jumper off a long pass but time runs out and the final score is 80-75 in favor of the Cardinals from St John Fisher.

Mikey McElroy has a game high 29 points to lead the Red Dragons and Keegan Ryan leads Fisher with 19 points.

Tough loss for Oneonta. Twice in the final 3 minutes they had a chance to tie the game but drove the lane and missed layups that were makable baskets. They also missed the "and one" on 2 calls that would have tied the game. Great effort though fighting back from 10 points down to make it a one possession game for most of the final five minutes.

Geneseo holds off the Mustangs from Morrisonville by a 103-93 score.

This was my comment from my afternoon predictions. " Justin Ringen will find his touch tonight and John Decker will continue his torrid pace"

I think my crystal ball had a radar lock on the Knghts as Justin Ringen broke out of his shooting slump in a big way tonight with an 11x17 effort from the field, 7x12 from downtown and 7x8 from the line. That adds up to 36 points and he wasn't even the leading scorer for the Knights. That honor goes to the fellow I said will continue his torrid pace. John Decker had a game high 41 points by shooting 13x25 from the field, 6x12 from behind the arc and 9x10 from the stripe. Decker just missed a double-double with 9 rebounds, and added 2 assists with a steal. Ringen had 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. The two guards combined for 77 of Geneseo's 103 points.

The dynamic duo got the ball rolling with a host of 3 pointers right from the opening bell. Decker was first on the scene with a 3 ball on th Knights very first possession.  Ringen followed 29 seconds later with his first 3 pointer. Decker made a layup and Ringen buried another three. Decker made a 3 pointer, then made another.  Ringen made a 3 pointer and Decker made another. With 6 minutes gone by in the game the score was 23-11 and the J & J boys had scored all 23 points. They had seven 3 pointers between them and they were just getting warmed up.

Morrisville had a couple of horses on their team as well named Trent Ward, and Kevin Dennis two men each with two first names.  They poured in 32 and 26 points respectively and teammate Kenny Bonaparte was close behind with 18 markers. These 3 guys kept the Mustangs in the game despite the fireworks of the Knights double J's. There were 196 points scored in this game  and these 5 guys accounted for 153 of them. The Geneseo pair took 42 of their teams 64 shots from the field. The Moville trio took 63 of the Mustangs 81 field goal attempts.

The heroics of Geneseo's John and Justin were overpowering the trio of Mustangs and the Knights built their lead from 12 to 14 to a high of 17 points on several occasions in the first half.  When John Decker stole the ball and fed Jordi Menkhorst for a dunk the Knights went in front by a 36-19 score with 9:09 left in the half.

The Mustangs refused to fold and cut the lead to 12 with 4:23 left. The Moville 3 all scored in succession and then they each scored again and suddenly the score was 44-40 as the Mustangs put together a 19-6 run and get right back into the game. Jack Manke hit a pair of free throws for the Knights but Ward made a 3 point jumper and the teams went to the break with Geneseo up 46-43.

A 9-2 spurt to start the 2nd half put the Mustangs in front for the first time all night at 52-48 but 8 points from Justin and 3 points from John put the Knights back in front 59-56. Several ties ad lead changes wold take place over the next 4 minutes until a 3 pointer by the Knights' Kevin Crockett and a jumper by Geneseo's Tommy Eastman put their team back on top by a 71-66 score with 11:29 to play. The Knights managed to slowly increase that lead to 9 points on a layup by Decker with 6 minutes remaining to make the score  85-76.
Ringen then hit back to back 3 pointers and the lead was once again in double figures at 91-78. Those bombs would prove to be the difference makers as the Mustangs could only foul and hope for the best but the Knights didn't miss from the stripe down the stretch to record the 10 point win.

Geneseo improves to 3-1 and is off until December 2nd when they start conference play by hosting New Paltz for a 5:30 PM contest.

Remember it's the men's teams who will play the early games this year for all the SUNYAC contests.

Fredonia defeats D'Youville 88-62

The Blue Devils evened their record at 2-2  cruising past the Spartans behind a strong first half where they doubled up the visitors 52-24. Coach Seymore got his 2nd and 3rd stringers into the game early and coasted to the 26 point win.

Ian Helps led the charge with 16 points. Richard De La Cruz and Kareem Brown each had 14 points. The trio had 4, 5,and 6 rebounds respectively.

Tommy Banks came off the bench to lead the club with 10 rebounds. He added 6 points, 4 blocks and 1 assist in 18 minutes of playing time. Nick Johnson also had 18 minutes on the court and scored 12 points while grabbing 6 boards. De'Quan Smith had 7 points, a pair of steals and 1 rebound in 9 minutes of court time.

Fredonia is back in action on November 30th at 7:00 PM when they travel to Medaille. The last time they beat the Mavericks was on December 11th, 2008, almost 8 years ago and have lost the only 2 contests they've played since then which have been the last two seasons. Could be time for a little revenge. If the Blue Devils hold out any hope of finishing the non-conference portion of their schedule with a winning record they will need a win next Wednesday night.
