Nov. 23   Just a single game on tap for today

Brockport  at   SUNY-Old Westbury      4:00 PM

The Golden Eagles looking for a sweep of their two game sojourn into the Long Island area. Old Westbury hasn't come close to a win in their 2 games,  losing to Stockton by 19 and Baruch by 26. I think Port is as good as those teams. The oddsmakers have favored Brockport by 10 points in a low scoring game. I think the Golden eagles will win by more than that. Brockport 75 Old Westbury 59.

AllStar,
You can lurk here anytime you want. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the regulars that are on this board. Eat lots of turkey, stuff yourself, remember, that turkey sacrificed himself just so you could. Don't let him down. :D

Brockport (3-0) losing to Old Westbury (0-2) 38-31 with 15 mins left in game!

Bengalsrule

43 -35 Old Westbury up with 13 mins left. (slow day at work folks!!)

Bengalsrule

Not sure what Old Westbury is doing today or what St Joes did yesterday, but Cliff Lyerly is having 2 sub par (IMHO) games . Yesterday, vs St. Joes, he went 5 of 10 for 10 pts in 27 mins. So far today he is 2 of 8 for 6 points in 23 mins. Over the weekend he went a combined 20 of 39 ( 11/21 vs Hampden and 9/18 vs case western) for 54 pts vs Hampden Sydney and Case Western reserve. Those aren't "Lyerly" type numbers. Hope the kid is ok! Eagles are gonna need him to finish strong if they plan on pulling this one out! 45- 37 Old w with 12 mins left!

Live stats has been stuck at 12:08 now for 10 mins! >:(

Lyerly must have read my posts. Scoring has doubled since 12 mins left in the game. Has 14 pts now and Eagles are down by 4 with 6 mins left!

Bengalsrule

Live stats is completely dead now, and its time to go home!  Nothing new to report. Im betting that B Port comes back and wins on a Lyerly 3!

"Brockport comes back and wins ".  Lyerly hits a game tie er with 2 seconds left in reg. Sending game into overtime.  B port wins in by 3 85-82. I'll let others do the analysis.

Why didn't Lyerly listen to you and win it in regulation with a 3 instead of tying with a 2? ::)

Damn good question Ronk. I'm gonna ask him in jan 10 when they come to town! Heck had he made that then I would have retired from by brief prediction career!  Gonna have to check my crystal ball around jan 8th/9th to make sure theres no such game ender at the Sports Arena nor 4 days later at B Port!  Enjoy the big come from behind win and Thanksgiving too!

Brockport 85 Old Westbury 82 in Overtime

This win by the Golden Eagles is more than just a win in overtime. It has to be one of the greatest comebacks that this group of Brockport players has ever been involved in.

Down by 13 points at 67-54 with 1:55 left in the game, the Golden Eagles put on a 2 minute drill that was better than an NFL team's final drive.

The comeback started with freshman Malick Sylla knocking down two 3 pointers, 20 seconds apart, with Old Westbury missing a dunk in between those 2 bombs. In the next 15 seconds the Panthers turned the ball over thanks to a David Clark steal. Brockport's Dan Dwayne then missed a 3 point attempt, but Clark was there to grab the rebound and bury a 2 point jumper. With 1:14 left to play the Eagles had narrowed the gap to 5 points.

The Panthers tried to use some clock but Dwayne stole the ball and was fouled with 55 seconds left. He sunk both free throws and on the inbounds pass the Panthers turned it over again. Marcus Blythers scored inside 6 seconds later and with 48 seconds remaining the score was 67-66 and the Eagles had scored 12 points in 67 seconds. Blythers was fouled on his layup but missed the tying free throw, however the Eagles got the offensive rebound. Brockport worked the ball looking for the go ahead score but their shot was blocked with 27 seconds to go in regulation. Old Westbury was fouled and made both foul shots to go up by 3 at 69-66. Port took a time out and missed a shot forcing them to foul with 5 seconds left in the game. The Panthers made 1 of 2 but that made it a 2 possession game and it looked to be the clincher. Clifton Lyerly scored in a hurry making it 70-68 with 2 seconds left. The Panthers turned it over with no time elapsing (5 second violation?) and the Eagles called a timeout. Brockport's Abdoulaye Sow attempted a 3 pointer that was off the mark but Lyerly grabbed the rebound and put in a buzzer beating jumper to tie the game and send it to overtime.

In the extra session the Eagles quickly went in front by 4 points on a Lyerly jumper and a layup by Devonn Gavin. After the Panthers scored, 2 free throws by Gavin restored the 2 possession edge and another Lyerly jumper made the score 78-72 with 1:32 remaining. The Panthers went to the line, made 1 of 2 and then the Eagles Matt Smith was fouled and swished them both to make it a 3 possession game with 1:21 to go. Lyerly followed with another score after a missed 3 pointer by the Panthers and the Eagles had a 9 point lead with a minute left to play. The shoe was now on the other foot. It was Old Westbury's turn to mount a comeback and the Panthers did their best to follow the Golden Eagles earlier act. They cut the lead to a single point as they scored 8 unanswered markers in 27 seconds thanks to 3 Brockport turnovers. (Check and see if Coach Dunne is bald the next time you spot him, he may have pulled all his hair out :D)  The teams then traded trips to the stripe, each making 1 of 2. Needing to foul, the Panthers sent Matt Smith to the line and he made                them both to extend the lead to 85-82. The Panthers missed a game tying 3 pointer with 4 seconds left and Brockport escaped with a most improbable victory.

Clifton Lyerly led the Eagles with 25 points (10x17 fg, 2x2 3's, 3x8 ft) and 6 rebounds. Devonn Gavin was the only other Brockport player in double figures with 10 points off the bench. Cordell Torres had 8 points and 7 rebounds.  Marcus Blythers was close behind with 7 points, 7 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Matt Smith had 8 points, 5 assists, and 2 rebounds while Dan Dwyane had 5 points and 4 steals in 13 minutes of court time. Justin Summers had 8 points and 4 rebounds in 17 minutes of play off the bench. David Clark had 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals in just 13 minutes on the floor. Malick Sylla scored 7 points in 12 minutes and those 2 big 3 pointers near the end of regulation were huge.

It looks like Brockport's 2nd leading scorer Hamed Shamseldin, left the game midway through the first half and didn't return, I'm guessing an injury of some kind but hope it's not serious.

Brockport improves to 4-0 and will be off until December 2nd when they open SUNYAC play and play their initial game in front of their home fans. They will host the Red Dragons from Oneonta State at 5:30 PM. The New Paltz Hawks come to town on Saturday at 2:00 PM.

Nov. 26 Only one game on tap today for the SUNYAC.

Oswego State  vs  Colby        7:00 PM    Hamilton Tournament @ Clinton, N.Y.

The Lakers will be in for a battle here as they take on a team from the NESCAC conference. If they don't get their act together they will be getting the proverbial swift kick in the butt from the White Mules. Beating Clarkson in overtime and losing to Nazareth weren't the results I expected from this Laker team. Win or lose, Oswego could face another NESCAC team...host Hamilton and former coach Adam Stockwell. Or they could play the team they beat in overtime on Tuesday night...the Clarkson Golden Knights.

Colby comes into this game with an undefeated 3-0 record. They haven't beaten anyone of note but have managed to win against teams they should. The oddsmakers have made the Lakers a slim 2 point favorite and I see a close game here as well. Oswego wins a tough one by a 76-73 final score.
