I'm watching the Oswego State-Colby game and I brought up the live stats. Craziest thing I ever seen. They are showing Oswego's lineup with at least 5 players from Colby on the Lakers. Then they are showing Colby's lineup with at least 4 players from Oswego on the White Mules' lineup. That's about as bad a screwup as I've ever seen. Still trying to figure out how the guy doing live stats could mess things up that badly.

Funniest thing is Laker players Tyler Pierre and Ian Schupp are listed as members of both teams. Schupp has scored 2 points for Oswego but has managed to score 3 pointsfor Colby. ???  And Pierre is scoreless for Oswego but committed 2 fouls, yet he has made 2 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and only has 1 foul for Colby.  :o Truly mind boggling.

The good news is the Lakers are winning 20-13 with 8 minutes to go in the half.

Oswego up 31-23 at the break. Only God knows who scored what, for which team.

According to the announcers from Northeast Sports the broadcasters of the Laker-Colby game, the following are the halftime scoring leaders.

Brian Sortino has 13 points for the Lakers. Ian Schupp has 6 points and Mykelle Krecko also has 6 points. Krecko leads everyone with 7 rebounds.

Sean Gilmore leads the White Mules with 9 points.

Hamilton defeated Clarkson in the opening game of the tournament  by a 96-92 final score.

Oswego will play Hamilton on the Championship game tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 PM if they win today.

If the Lakers lose to Colby then they will face off against Clarkson for the 2nd time in 5 days in the consolation game on Sunday at 1:00 PM

Hey whaddayouknow about halfway through the 2nd half they finally got the lineups straightened out.

magicman

Oswego regains a 7 point lead at 56-49 with 6:05 left in the game.

Big 3 pointer by Ian Schupp to make it a 6 point Oswego lead. Cobly misses, Krecko rebounds but the Lakers misfire and Colby comes down and scores to cut the lead to 4.

Oswego misses again and the White Mules go to the line at the other end and cut the lead to 2 points at 64-62.

Lakers come down and Sortino is fouled. He makes 1 of 2 with 44 seconds left to play.

With 34 seconds to go Ian Schupp fouls a Colby player and Oswego takes a time out.

Colby makes 1 of 2 and then steals the ball on the inbound pass. Colby player misses a layup after the steal...choke... and then Krecko is fouled when he grabs the rebound.

Krecko makes 1 of 2 to make the score 66-63.

Colby comes down and attempts a 3 pointer for the tie with 8 seconds to go and it's off target and goes out of bounds off the rim. Oswego ball and the Lakers take another time out.

Inbounds pass goes to Ian Schupp who is fouled with 6.8 seconds remaining. One made free throw should close the door on Colby. Schupp misses the first and the Lakers call a time out.  Now the White Mules try to ice Schupp as they call a time out.

Schupps' shot hits the rim and gets the friendly bounce and the Lakers have a 4 point lead.

Colby comes down and throws up a 3 pointer that is way off the mark and this one is over.

Final score 67-63

Brian Sortino  was the game's high scorer with 21 points. He also has 6 assists and 4 rebounds.

Mykelle Krecko had a double-double of 11 points and  a game high 11 rebounds. He also had 3 blocks.

Ian Schupp and Jamir Ferebee both had 12 points. Schupp had 2 assists, a rebound and a steal.  Ferebee added 4 rebounds.

Keith Tyson had 6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks.

I had the Lakers winning this one 76-73. They just inverted my 76 to get to 67. I saw the right numbers in my crystal ball just had them a bit mixed up. I had them winning by 3 points and they won by 4.

Good win for the YAC anytime we beat a NESCAC team.

Now Oswego (4-1) has a chance to take down another NESCAC team tomorrow as the Lakers try and spoil Hamilton's (and Adam Stockwell's 3 team party) by beating the Continentals (3-1) for their Championship on their home court. Game time is 3:00 PM

I'm going to go on record here and predict an Oswego State victory by a final score of Oswego 75 Hamilton 71.     Go Lakers

Since the Amherst's basketball teams are off this weekend, I have been looking around at other CAC teams playing their OOC games.  Thanks for the Colby "play by play" Magicman :)
Both Colby and Hamilton are "rebuilding" teams wrt to Nescac observers and are not expected to be challengers for the title.  Who really knows...though there is talent on both teams.  Will try to catch part of the Hamilton game today.   One thing for sure...the Continentals can score points.

Oswego State leads Hamilton at the break by a 45-37 score.

Back and forth in the early part of the period until Oswego trailing 19-16 at the 12:41 mark, went on a 14-4 run to open up a 30-23 advantage. Hamilton clawed back to tie it at 33 with 5 minutes to go, but the Lakers ended the half on another 12-4 burst.

Oswego's preseason All American, Brian Sortino with 12 points leads all scorers. Ian Schupp wth 11 and 6'10" Mykelle Krecko with 9 points and 4 rebounds.

Peter Hoffman with 9 and Michael Grassey with 8 were high men for Hamilton.

Hamilton has come back to take the lead against the Lakers on a 3 pointer to go up 52-51, with 12:39 to go.

Now with 9:54 to go Hamilton still clinging to a 1 point 56-55 lead.

Hamilton opens up their largest lead of the game at 62-55 on back to back 3 pointers by Michael Grassey with 7:52 left in the game.

Oswego now down by 10 points at 70-60 with 3:35 remaining minutes to go.

Oswego cuts the lead to 5 points but now are not looking good as they miss on two straight trips down the floor and Hamilton builds the lead back to 9.

The Lakers not playing well in crunch time and Hamilton comes away with the win, 78-70.

Brian Sortino leads all scorers with 26 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds.

Ian Schupp has 18 points and Mykelle Krecko has 10.

Oswego falls to 4-2 and will be back in action on Saturday December 3rd when they host Cortland at 2:00 PM. to open SUNYAC play.

Hamilton's Peter Hoffman was the MVP of the tournament and finished with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Michael Grassey had 18 points and 5 rebounds for the Continentals.

Jack Dwyer finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists. He also had 6 rebounds.

The Continentals improve to 4-1 as Coach Adam Stockwell gains some bragging rights by defeating the two schools he previously coached, before his move to Hamilton.

Hamilton will be off until Saturday December 3rd when they travel to St. David's, Pennslyvania to take on the Eastern University Eagles at 3:00 PM.

Congrats to John Decker. Not only did he make the uSUNYAC team of the week but today he also made SUNYAC player of the week!  Well deserved!

He also made the D3hoops Team of the Week. Here's what the SUNYAC and D3hoops write up had to say:

John Decker
Decker scored a career-high 41 points, including 6-of-12 3-pointers and 9-of-10 free throws, in the Knights' 103-93 victory at Morrisville, Tuesday. The 41 points tied for the third-highest individual single-game total in program history and was the most points scored by a Knight in 21 seasons.

The first regular season D3hoops Top 25 poll was released yesterday evening.

The only East Region team to make the rankings was Rochester at #18. The Yellowjackets are 6-0 and have wins over Ithaca and Hobart so far. They went from 18 points in the Others Receiving Votes category to 168 points this week, a gain of 150 points

Skidmore with 24 points drops from last week's 28th position and point total of 60, as they lose 36 points. Their fall from the unbeaten ranks with a loss to Ithaca puts them in the 37th position in the ORV category.

Plattsburgh State, on the strength of three opening week victories, picks up 10 points to lead the SUNYAC schools at the present time, as they are slotted in 45th place.

St John Fisher is the only other East Region school to get a mention as these Cardinals get a single point.

Oswego State with two losses drops all of their 74 points from the preseason poll and gets no mention this week.

Geneseo State loses the single point they received earlier.

Brockport State and Buffalo State received no mention but are both undefeated and if they continue to do so this coming week they may get a mention in next week's poll.

Plattsburgh and Buff State square off on Friday in Buffalo. The winner of that game (if they stay clean in their other games) should make next week's poll in the ORV category.
