Nov. 29 Five gameson tap today as the YAC gets back in action after the holiday recess.

Ithaca  at   Cortland        5:30 PM

Big game today in central NY as these two rivals go at each other once again. The Red Dragons won the Cortaca Jug in football this year, can they do the same in hoops as well? Oddsmakers have made Cortland a 6 point favorite but I'm not so sure they should be. Cortland went 1-1 at the Cortaca Classic earlier this month while Ithaca went 2-0 against the same two schools. Ithaca also just handed favored Skidmore a loss in their most recent game. I'm picking Cortland here, but I won't be surprised if the Bombers win this game. Final score Cortland 87 Ithaca 84.

Buffalo State  at  Alfred        7:00 PM

The Bengals will have too much firepower for the Saxons as they invade Happy Valley. The point spread favors Buff State by 7 but I think they win by more. Final score Bengals 94 Alfred 82.

New Paltz State  at  Springfield        7:00 PM

The Hawks desperately in search of a win. I don't think they find it here. The Pride isn't as good as years past but should get by the Hawks tonight. They are favored by 10 points and that looks to be about right. Springfield wins 83-72.

Hartwick  at  SUNY Oneonta        8:00 PM

Local rivals go at it again in their annual battle. Based on the results against 2 common opponents in the Holiday Inn Classic at Hartwick to open the season this game appears to be a tossup. The oddsmakers have favored the Red Dragons by a slim 4 point margin. Last year Oneonta won 17 and got a huge 32 point effort from Lawrence Coleman. He might just be the edge needed today as well. I don't think Mikey McElroy will have another 12 minute, 5 point game like last year either. Hartwick has won 7 of the past 10 games but the Red Dragons looking to start a streak of their own. Oneonta 85 Hartwick 82

Plattsburgh State        St. Lawrence        8:00 PM

Cardinals will be missing several key players in tonight's contest against St. Lawrence. The oddsmakers have made them a slim 4 point favorite not knowing that information. Plattsburgh has owned the Saints in recent years as they have won the last 7 games and are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings. Last year the Cardinals won by a 77-65 score in Plattsburgh and SLU returns almost all of that team. Cards lost a lot, but have reloaded quite well. I think Plattsburgh will still prevail in tonight's contest even without one of their starters and top bench players. Final score will be Plattsburgh 84 St.Lawrence 75.

I always like reading your predictions and analysis.  You're crystal ball is always very good...it's missed on the LEC pick 'em board though.   ;D

Since Keene State played both Oneonta and Hartwick, that game is somewhat interesting to me.  I've hardly ever seen Oneonta play, but I'm sure their new coach and former Plattsburgh assistant will go a great job...he clearly did as a helper with the Cardinals.

Thanks AllStar for the kind words. I would have done the LEC pickems if it was just the games. Not a fan of all the bonus stuff. But that's just me. I do check in to see how you guys are doing. If I was doing the pickems I believe I would currently be in first place though ;D

Part of my picking Oneonta in today's game is they played a bit better against your Owls than Hartwick did. I hope they can pull out the win this evening.

Good luck in the LEC pickems.

Cortland all over Ithaca in the big rivalry game as they more than double up the Bombers by a 50-23 halftime score. I'll let jdex do the summaries for the first half.

Cortland finally finds an offense ..........shoots 50 percent from the field and 8x17 beyond the arc. J. Morales with 19 points (5x6 3s), M. Kelly 10, but many hands contributing to the big attack. J. Cooper 9 pts (4x5fg). Ithaca's M. Chasin (2x10fg, 1x7 3s) with just five points and Bombers' offense struggling against RDragons' zone at 32fg percent.  Will say this, appears as Chasin goes, so go the Ithacans ....

Mere 10 fouls assessed, four on Corts ....

Surprised at how little playing time Joey Flanagan is getting this year for the Bombers. Last year he was the 2nd leading scorer on the team with 15.0 ppg. 2nd in steals with 40. Led the team in 3 point fg percentage (42.6%) and free throw percentage (83.7%).  He started 16 of 27 games last year and averaged 27 minutes per game, scoring in double figures 18 times. This year he hasn't started at all and is only getting 11 minutes a game. he's averaging 6.3 ppg. Maybe he's coming off an injury that I don't know about. ???

Cortland wrapping this one up as they lead 97-61 with 3 minutes to go.

Buffalo State leads Alfred U at the half by a 40-27 score.

Live stats not working so no halftime totals to post.

Springfield leads New Paltz State by a 29-26 score at the break.

Nick Paquette with 6 points and Andrew Seniuk with 5 to lead the Hawks.

magicman

New Paltz opens the 2nd half with a 13-3 run to go in front of Springfield 39-32

Buffalo State was up by 22 points but their lead has shrunk to 62-48 with 13 minutes left to play.

Buffalo State wins over Alfred U by a final score of 94-77.

I had the Bengals winning by a 94-82 margin and would have been closer if Alfred hadn't went into a scoring drought for much of the final 2:30 of the game. Hit the Bengals score right on though. 8-)

Cortland and Plattsburgh both surprised last night, for different reasons.
