Whew... Glad that 1 is over. Happy valley was rather electric last night, especially with them hosting a quarterfinal game in the div 3 football championships this Saturday!  My BENGALS prevailed in a game that, to be honest, I thought would not be as close as it was. After holding the Saxons to just 27 points in the first half, they (BENGALS) got involved a track meet that they could have avoided (104 points scored in 2nd half). With less than 4 mins gone in the 2nd half, my BENGALS were up by 24 pts (53-29), and I'm thinking that everyone on the team is gonna get in this game, which could help our starters come friday night!  Give Alfred credit. They made a complete 5 man substitution at the 17 min mark and after a couple more BENGAL baskets, these Saxons fought back.  With a little more than 8 mins left my BENGALS were up again by 25 and the Saxons fought back again. Give Alfred credit, there was no quit in these kids. part of that has got be because the head coach of Alfred, used to play at Cortland! Plus Alfred's top assistant this year is 2016 All Sunyac, and former Cortland star, Blair Esterfaa. I expect these boys to be very competitive in the E8 this year...very competitive!

Leading the way was Lovell Smith with 23 pts and 2 assists. Nico McLean chipped in 20 pts however this fan was most impressed with his 11 assists! Mike Henry continued his ironman performance like season with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both Jordans also chipped in. Jordan Chateau chipped in with 10 pts and 8 boards and Jordan Glover chipped in 9 pts, 7 rebounds and 5 assists ( I'm predicting that Glover will get a triple-double before years end...just saying  :)). Surprisingly Zach Ciezki, came off the bench and provided  1 helluva spark to the BUff State attack. His stat line of 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals, really doesn't show the impact that he had on yesterdays game. Im expecting big things from this freshman after seeing him come in for Mike Henry (foul trouble) yesterday, and kept the BENGAL train running on all cylinders!

Now the real season starts. Since no one qualifies for post season play based on a 4-0 non conference record, this Friday marks the beginning of SUNYAC play! And the SUNYAC schedulers have put, IMHO,  the toughest of 'Yac opponents on the BENGALS conference opening schedule ...the Plattsburgh Cards. Leon Moise is the only current BENGAL, who has ever been on the court when Buff State has beaten the Cards (Jan 25th 2013). Since then its been 0 - 7 for my beloved BENGALS ( and  I had a damn good seat for all of the those losses  >:( )! By any measure , I think that most SUNYAC observers would say that Plattsburgh is the ultimate measuring stick within this conference. If you can't beat them, then you aint going too far! Plain and simple.  :-[ Their 3 NCAA appearances in the past 4 years says it all. Only Oswego and Cortland can boast of 2 out of the past 4 NCAA tourneys appearances,  and the rest of the conference can boast 1, or 0,  NCAA post season appearances, in the past 4 seasons. Clearly Plattsburgh is the cream of the crop in the 'Yac (and the East region) and Buff State starts out Conference play with the toughest of opponents.

My original plans had me in Akron Ohio this Friday, however cousin Andrea will understand why I'm gonna have to pass on that visit. I want to get a good seat for this game Friday and see what my BENGALS are really made of! Im hoping that Friday is gonna be special. I can't wait!! ;)

go BENGALS

All-Time

The Bengals are the team to beat in the SUNYAC this season.
With all the talent they have back they should win the SUNYAC.

The SUNYAC starts this weekend. It should be a dig fight all season.
Can't wait for the Fun to begin.

Tried to post some results right after I posted the final score of the Buffalo State game last night but couldn't pull up the D3hoops boards. The boards I had open went to a "cannot connect at this time mode" and when I tried opening a new page I got the same message. Kept trying until quite late and then fell asleep.

I see jdex and Bengalsrule posted some summaries, now I don't have to...except for a few comments I'll have about the Plattsburgh State contest.

I'm assuming that others had the same problem I did with accessing D3hoops. In checking on other boards no one made any comments last night after 9 PM.

All Time,
This was my quote from 7 months ago at the end of last season:

Next year will find another extremely competitive conference race. I think Cortland and Plattsburgh have the nucleus for another decent season. Oswego lost a lot of talent but with Brian Sortino and Mykelle Krecko back they have possibilities. Geneseo only lost 2 players and with Justin Ringen and John Decker returning, they will be in the playoffs.   Brockport should be solid again as well, with 5 of their top 6 scorers back. Fredonia will look to move up the ladder as they should continue to improve.

Everybody could be chasing Buffalo State though as I think they return more talent than anybody. How all that talent comes together on the court will be the question mark, but right now they are the frontrunners, I believe.  Of course after seeing my Cardinals when they come back in the fall I might change my mind.  ;D  I do know we'll have one or two surprises to unveil. 8-

So far so good for the Bengals.

Sorry about that.
I never want to steal your Thunder.
That Crystal ball of yours is amazing.
My mistake, it will never happen again.

The Law Firm

Gentlemen! As the YAC' kicks off this weekend let me be the first to say good luck to all! You will come to find that I am not so supportive of other teams around the conference, and am a firm believer that a little trash talk never hurt nobody 😉 It's all in good fun! Boy oh boy, do those bengals look primed for a special run! I am sure I speak for all fellow Bengal fans when I say thank you for your gracious projections and predictions, but the buck stops Friday when Plattsburgh travels to Buffalo for a heavyweight bout. I believe the cards and Johnathon Patron are in for a rude awakening this Friday and won't be able to match the Bengals speed and aggression (the Benagls are also out for revenge, especially on Plattsburgh!) so Magicman I say this, sorry in advance! Buff state wins convincingly this Friday! And to your point about a starter missing the game, Buffalo State played a game without veteran leader and starting gaurd Nico McLean earlier this year on the road and were able to win by 20, next man up no excuses!  catch up with you guys soon!  peace and love.

Wish someone had said something. The more often I can report this to our host, the better a chance I have of getting it resolved.

Nov. 30  Just a single game on tap for tonight.

Fredonia  at  Medaille      7:00 PM

The Blue Devils should be in for a tight game here, on the road, against the Mavericks. Last year they got whipped pretty good by the Mav's as they won in Fredonia by a 95-74 final score. I think that Medaille lost some key players from that win and the Blue Devils returned just about everyone. The point spread favors the Blue Devils by a slim 2 points.  I'll take Fredonia to gain a measure of revenge here, by a 75-68 final score.

Note: I just discovered that it's 7:37 and this game has been going on for a while. The score is 29-29 so I guess the fact that I'm late doesn't really matter.  ;D

Fredonia loses a close one to Medaille 70-67.

The score was tied at 66 with 2:00 to go after Ian Helps scored on a layup. The Mavericks came down and scored inside with 1:43 left to play. Fredonia turned it over, but Helps stole the ball and Fredonia took a time out with 53 ticks remaining. The Blue Devils missed a 3 pointer with 42 seconds left and Medaille missed with 13 seconds left as Helps blocked a layup attempt. Fredonia calls another time out with 9 seconds to go and Helps is fouled with 3 seconds on the clock. He makes the first and misses the second. Fredonia fouls and the Mavericks miss the front end of a 1&1. Helps gets the rebound but a technical foul is called on Fredonia with 2 seconds left. Think the Blue Devil coach may have wanted a foul called on the rebound and may have protested too much, but I'm just guessing.  Mavericks make 2 free throws and a 3 pointer at the buzzer by Fredonia is off the mark.

Tough way to lose a game.

Ian Helps and Richard De La Cruz both scored 16 points to lead the Blue Devils. Kareem Brown added 12 points. Dante Williams had a team high 10 rebounds and came up a basket short of a double-double with 8 points.

The Mavericks had 4 players in double figure led by a game high 21 points from Justice Fagan. Jon Belton had  a team high 6 rebounds to go with his 18 points. Mike Hollenbeck and Kirk Hawkins both had 10 points.

Fredonia drops to 2-3 overall and will host Potsdam State at 5:30 PM on Friday night to start conference play.

All-Time,
No need to apologize, you weren't stealing my thunder. It's not hard to recognize that the Bengals are a talented bunch. They have 6 or 7 guys who can lead the team in scoring on any given night. I was scared of them last year and with all they had coming back doubly scared of them this year.

I just wanted you to know that we were on the same page. 8-)

Well, as you know, in the past I always used to report many things directly to you. However, I was under the impression that you weren't involved much any more. Should I continue to send emails to you when I discover problems or errors? Or is there someone else I should be addressing when I see something wrong?

All - Time, the BENGAL faithful appreciate the confidence that you and Law Firm have in us this season.I am glad that from what you  have seen so far this season, that you feel that strongly about Buff State.  I hope that come Feb 25th my BENGALS will prove you right. I believe that this league is, at the minimum, a 3 bid league (as the SUNYAC was last year).  Many of the integral players from Oswego ( who made it to the Sweet 16 and were 2 pts from making it Elite 8), Cortland (who got robbed with phantom foul call with less than 5 seconds left vs Amherst, the current #1 ranked team in D3, and lost by 1 pt in 2nd round last year) and Plattsburgh ( who lost their all SUNYAC player & 1 man wrecking crew - Jon Patron to an injury right  before the playoffs, and lost by 3), all NCAA 2016 playoff participants, have returned this year!

This league is loaded! Heck if we played each other just once a year,  like some other conference(s) do and then filled in the rest of the schedule with cupcake wins then the SUNYAC could easily put 4/5 teams in the dance (IMHO). Instead we beat the hell out of each other and in the 'Yac, (and in the words of Jerry Butler...) "Only the strong survive". I believe that the Law Firm put it best..."the buck stops here when Plattsburgh travels to Buffalo"! If ever there was a true measuring stick  for how far the BENGALS have come, then this Friday, that measuring stick comes to town, wearing black and red!

I hope that my beloved BENGALS will continue to earn the respect of those who feel so strongly about their championship abilities! If you stick around this game long enough then you know that everyone experiences the highs and lows that come with the "Game" ! I'm praying for the highest of basketball highs this season.

All time if you,  or Law Firm, are ever in Buffalo then I sure would like to buy you a beverage! Ive been trying to get the magicman down here for 4/5 years...so I realize that that aint happening (yet!). Although he has a standing offer! ;)

Go BENGALS
