Another plus, that I just discovered on "herosports".  I wonder if pat Coleman and the crew utilize/pay attention to any of their, Herosports,  data?

Easier to read than massey (IMHO)

The YAC slowly returns to action as Oneonta gets us started after the holiday with a game against Ursinus down in Florida.

Ursinus  vs  Oneonta State     Land of Magic Classic @ Daytona Beach, Fla. 11:00 AM

The Ursinus Bears currently sit in a tie for 2nd place in the Centennial Conference, with a 3-1 league record. They are 5-4 overall. They own a 16 point win over Franklin & Marshall a team that has beaten the Red Dragons 3 times in the past 5 years. Last year Oneonta lost a tough overtime decision to F & M with some questionable fouls called near the end of regulation. But that Franklin & Marshall team (22-6 last year) was much better than this year's version. So Ursinus beating them by 16 points doesn't carry the weight that it normally would.

Oneonta is coming off a 3 game winning streak, all conference victories, that have them right in the thick of the battle, for a conference playoff spot, under new head coach Cameron Conover. They will come into the game as a slim 3 point favorite according to the oddsmakers. They will have to contend with the height of the Bears as they start a pair of 6'7' forwards, along with 3 guards that go 6'2", 6'3" and 6'4". I'm taking the Red Dragons to win this one by a 77- 73 final score. Here's my logic...Buffalo State beat Eastern Connecticut by 8 points. The next day Eastern Connecticut beat Eastern University by 17 points. Eastern University beat Ursinus by 16 points back on December 10th. I think Oneonta can hang with the Bengals so they should be able to hang with these Bears....and hopefully take them down. Go Dragons.

All-Time

The Oneonta Red Dragons win this one by Double digits against Ursinus.
Like I told Bengalsrule, a little sunshine this time of year does wonders. 8-)
Coach Conover has them playing great. The Geneseo win will go down as the turning point of their season.
Look for the Red Dragons to come out fast.

I usually don't engage in predictions ( leaving that to our 2 resident experts) but I agree with you, All Time, 100%!  Need another good win for the Yac!!

Oneonta 78 - Ursinus 67. Magicman's logic works..again!

Oneonta  78  Ursinus 67

Pretty close with Oneonta's point total as I had them winning 77-73.

All-Time correctly had them winning by double digits. Good job by the Red Dragons

Oneonta did come out of the gate fast as All-Time mentioned, as they opened up a 14-4 lead fueled by 10 points from Lawrence Coleman. They maintained a 7 to 11 point lead for much of the period and were still up by 10 points, 31-21, with 5 minutes to play in the period.  They got outscored 11-4 over those last few minutes and allowed the Bears to close to within 3 points to go into the locker room only up 35-32.

The Bears came out of the break and scored the first 2 baskets of the 2nd half to take their first lead since they were up 2-1. That just made the Red Dragons mad and they reeled off 15 unanswered points that basically put this game away as they held a double digit lead for all but 34 seconds of the entire 2nd half. Up 50-36, Oneonta would extend the lead to as much as 19 points, at 58-39. The Bears cut the lead below double figures at 68-59 with 2:08 to play but the Red Dragons made 10 of 16 free throws down the stretch to win by the final score.

The Red Dragons
Lawrence Coleman led the way with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals

Frankie Kelly had 18 points, 6 rebounds,4 assists and a steal.

Mikey McElroy had 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a block.

Jack Kolosky had 11 points, a team high 8 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Bears
Ursinus only had 1 player, Remi Janicot, in double figures with 11 points.

Joe LoStracco had a game high 9 rebounds to go with his 7 points.

Zach Muredda had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal off the bench.

Oneonta outshot the Bears in all 3 categories and only had 9 turnovers to 18 for their opponents. Ursinus had 36 rebounds to 31 for Oneonta.

The Red Dragons improve to 5-4 and will meet Brooklyn College on Thursday December 29th at 7:00 PM.

Dec. 29  Three SUNYAC teams in action today

Geneseo State  vs  Centre    5:00 PM
at Case Western Reserve (Cleveland, Ohio) @ Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament

The Knights are coming off a two week layoff and will take on the Centre College Colonels from the Southern Athletic Assosciation. Geneseo is on a 2 game winning streak and they should be able to keep the streak going against the Colonels. The point spread favors Geneseo by 9 points but I think they win by a few more than that. Centre is 4-4 and has no common opponent with Geneseo but they did lose to Earlham who barely beat D'Youville in overtime. Fredonia beat D'Youville by 26 points. I'm taking the Knights to win this one by an 88-74 final.

Fredonia State  at  Lycoming        6:00 PM

The Blue Devils apparently weren't happy getting beat by Lycoming back on November 15th by an 80-66 final score. They've decided to go back to Pennslyvania and would like some more, please. The Warriors are 10-1, on a 7 game winning streak, and would be undefeated, except for a 1 point loss to D3hoops #14 Susqehanna. They have beaten Potsdam and Fredonia this year but notice they didn't play any of the upper echelon teams in the YAC. Buffalo State played last years league champion Alvernia last week and beat them by a 72-65 score on a neutral court. Lycoming beat Alvernia back on December 13th at home by an 86-85 score. I think the SUNYAC is a stronger conference, but Lycoming (after getting pounded by Plattsburgh State 2 years ago) avoids our better teams.

Fredonia is on a 3 game losing streak and has been off for 19 days. I don't see them winning this game and they will be hard pressed to keep it in single digits. The oddsmakers have made Lycoming a 15 point favorite. Final score will be something along those lines. Lycoming has scored 86 points in their last 3 games. Can they make it a 4 bagger? Lycoming 86 Fredonia 68.

Oneonta State  vs  Brooklyn College        7:00 PM     Daytona Shootout @ Daytona Beach, Fla.

Hopefully the Red Dragons learned a lesson from last year and didn't party into the wee hours of the morning. At least they don't have an afternoon game if they did. Last year they beat a decent Central team and then the next day, went and lost to a Gustavus Adolphus team that they should have mopped the floor with. That was the day of the 15 point first half. That was in Puerto Rico and those island girls must have messed with the Red Dragons bigtime.  Today is the same scenario. They should win this game by double digits. The Bulldogs have a 3-7 record and haven't beaten a team with a winning record. Using my logic from yesterday's prediction with Buffalo State as my common denominator, here's what I come up with since the Bulldogs and Red Dragons have no common opponents. Buff State beat Alvernia 72-65. Alvernia beat Lebanon Valley 76-70. Yesterday Brooklyn lost to Lebanon Valley by a 76-60 score. The oddsmakers have made Oneonta a 10 point favorite but I think they win by a bigger margin, if they didn't party all night long. Oneonta 90 Brooklyn 72.
