SLU beat Oswego in Oswego, something Brockport didn't do.

Head to head is really only going to matter if the resumes are very, very close - like Skidmore over SLU.

Beating them twice, as Skidmore did to the Saints, matters, I'm sure. Hard for a committee member to put that out of their minds. :D

Magic,
What does one(Scranton) have to do to defeat Oswego?

Magic,
What does one(Scranton) have to do to defeat Oswego?

Stopping Brian Sortino would be a big help... but almost no one has found a way to do that.

Here's a fancier version of the region Oswego is in.  ;D  The times may not be entirely accurate.  Good luck to the Lakers!

ronk,
If I knew the answer to that question I would have told Plattsburgh's Coach Curle 2 years ago. As Dave states, stopping Sortino would probably do it. Easier said than done. You could always call up Tonya Harding's crew to see if they want a new job. :D

What kind of inside presence do they have? Scranton is pretty big at least in landmark terms and goes 6'9, 6'7 at the 4 and 5.

Oswego has a 6'10" starting center, but perhaps more difficult for Scranton is that they've got plenty of size on the bench they can throw at Viktus to beat him up a bit.  It's going to be the big, skilled bigs of Scranton vs the big physical bigs of Oswego... oh yeah, and one of the best scoring point guards in the country.  My money's on Oswego.

Hey , you aren't supposed to reveal your picks until Friday. I am glad they don't appear to be the athletic team that gives Scranton fits, ie Neumann.  Hopefully Coach Danzig is drawing something up.

Well, I'm writing the tourney preview this year, so my picks might be public tonight, if I get it done by then.

Yeah... Oswego is going to be far more physical with Scranton than they see in the Landmark. It is going to be like playing a Midwest or Great Lakes team.

Oswego gives up a 19 point 2nd half lead and Scranton takes a 3 point lead with 1:42 left to play. Sortino gets a steal and a layup to tie the game at 70. Scranton misses on their end and Oswego gets the fnal shot, but misses it and they head to overtime.

Lakers lose in overtime as they play catch up from the first possession of the extra session. Tied at 72 the Lakers give up a jumper on Scrantons next possession and then turn the ball over when they need to score and draw even. The refs could have called a foul on the play causing the turnover but elected not to. Then on Scranton's end they call a foul on Mykelle Krecko who was guarding the Royal's big man, John Vitkus. Again it appeared to be pretty good defense on the play by Krecko and it was his 5th foul sending him to the bench. That was the turning point. Vitus made both free throws, the Royals had a 4 point lead and without Krecko's presence inside, Oswego couldn't catch up. The Royals made their free throws down the stretch and come away with an 82-77 win.

Brian Sortino led all scorers with 27 points. Keith Tyson had 17 points and 7 rebounds. Jamir Ferebee had 13 points and 5 rebounds. Ian Schupp had 12 points.

Mykelle Krecko had 8 points and a game high 17 rebounds.

Congratulations to the Lakers on a fine season. Wish you were still playing on.
