In a battle of one loss teams, Oswego leads visiting St. Lawrence 38-26 at half time.

Lakers have a 22-9 rebounding advantage and are +4 in turnovers.

K. Cook leads Oswego with 11 points, Trent Adamson leads Saints with 8 points.

SLU trailing by 12 despite hitting 10x22 from the field to Lakers' 12x31.

Rebounding edge is interesting as SLU has a pair of 6-7's
Laker's starters top out at 6-4 with one 6-5 seeing minutes off the bench.

Bear--I totally agree with you at this point of the season. It certainly appears that Laker Hall will be the focus of the SUNY's. With that said, alot of solid SUNY bball to be played!!!! I am really looking forward to it. I hope COVID doesn't ruin it for us!!!

Rough day for my Bengals. Day started with the results from a mandatory Covid test. 6 positive , plus another 3 dismissed for various reasons. Started game with 8 players total   .  The guys hung in their for a half but eventually the #37 ranked Yellow Jackets prevailed

Nothing left but SUNYAC games left   Not sure how long the positive players have to stay out. Hoping it's 5 days instead of 10. Next 3 are at home ( Potsdam, Plattsburgh and Oswego) so here's to hoping home helps!

Go BENGALS

Damn. Weekend contests vs Potsdam and Plattsburgh postponed. 10 inches of snow today was the culprit. Covid didn't help either.  Games are supposed to be rescheduled

A bit of a surprising outcome this weekend as the Oneonta/New Paltz folks traveled to The Rochester area.

The surprise was that Geneseo came away with a sweep and now sit atop [until tomorrow at least] the SUNYAC at 5-0.

Their game on Friday against New Paltz was a classic with a Raymond Grabowski trey at :02 to secure the win 77-75.

A scrappy New Paltz club whacked favored host Brockport on Saturday as they lit it up from the arc with a 16-31 performance enroute to a 90-78 win over the Eagles. 4 Hawks in double figures led by Rylan Blondo who filled the stat sheet with 19 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds & 4 steals.

Oneonta was game, but they were missing Frankie Williams Jr. (16 ppg) and other moving parts and made the trip with a depleted roster.

They hung in there for a while, but were thumped by both Brockport 85-65 and Geneseo 91-68.

Michael Ortale Jr. filled up the stat sheet with 48 points and 15 rebounds, but the Dragons fell to 2-3 in the conference, and are on a 4 game winless skein.

Schedule still evolving, next known game is the Oswego Lakers traveling to Buffalo for a 7:30 tip Monday against the Buffalo State Bengals.

Oswego at Buff State game has been moved to Tuesday at 4PM.

The polar express moving in from the midwest has made travel unsafe between Oswego and Buffalo.

Snowfall in the Oswego area 3-4 inches per hour.

Looks like Simmons is a new addition to the Lakers.  Division II transfer from Walsh.

He has played since first semester, basketball gypsy with stops at Mohawk Valley, Corning Community, Mansfield U in PA, Walsh, and now Oswego.  1,000 pt HS scorer in Rochester, The journey has seen Simmons work his way down from a peak weight of 260 pounds to about 205, make a junior college All American team, and get Division I interest before committing to D-II Walsh for his final season, and then taking the extra year to enroll at Oswego.

Decent effort from the Bears tonight but Oswego is just too good.   Potsdam got it down to a 7 point deficit just over halfway through the 2nd half but some opportune shots from the Lakers gave them some more cushion.   Baptiste played with foul trouble the whole game which took away any offensive presence for the Bears inside for most of the game.

The season of horrors for Plattsburgh continues with a 30 point loss to Cortland.  Plattsburgh still down some starters.

Oswego is an excellent team.

They are undersized, but rival any d3 team in quickness and athleticism.

They are also very deep, a signature of excellent teams.

Jeremiah Sparks is a 6-3 point forward for this team, the offense revolves around him in the half court, his is a mismatch, too long for most D3 point guards, and too quick for taller defenders.

They have some deadly three point shooters in Crittenden and Green who can destroy a zone, and are very quick to the ball.

They probably have 8 guys who can light it up on a given night, so they are a nightmare to defend.

They are plus 57 in turnovers, and have an assist turnover ratio of 1.4:1 while only allowing .6:1.

Add Coach Leone to the mix, and they are a force.

The path to the SUNYAC goes through the Lakers.

Hey guys--I have been busy and negligent about getting here. My Eagles are on a downward trend not being able to put their offense and defense together for a full game. They absolutely put together a strong game against Oneonta last weekend winning by 20; and forgot to bring the defense against a hot shooting NP team on Saturday. NP was 16-31 from the 3pt line. Last night's performance against Geneseo rivaled with one of the worst 1st halves I have seen from my beloved Eagles in a long time; scoring 16 points in 20 minutes. This is one of the better Geneseo teams I have seen over the past years. I agree with Bear the SUNYAC's go through the Lakers!!! Alot of bball to be played!!! Go Eagles!!!!

Buff State seems to be down bad this year for whatever reason, and Fredonia is perenially awful, but what the heck happened to Plattsburgh?

Coach Curle retired from NY State - he had 31 years between Plattsburgh, SUNYIT and SUNY Alfred State, and is now the AD at William Peace University in Raleigh, NC

New Coach Mike Blaine had success including 2 NCAA tournament appearances at Medaille in the Buffalo area. He is finding that the SUNYAC is a big step up from the AMCC. He's a Johns Hopkins grad with D-I assistant experience, with stops at Cornell, Army, James Madison, and Radford.

Common thread is SUNYAC players from 19-20 who would be expected to be contributors are just disappearing from rosters.  Has happened at several schools during this season, at all levels of the conference standings.  I've kept the home book for 7 games this season, and have yet to have everyone on the program rosters be active for the game.

Definitely a down year , so far. Started out with 17 players. Lost 3 during holiday and a total of 5 with Covid over 1st weeks of 2022 ( dressed 8 for U of Rochester). Then leading scorer Sheldon Adams was dismissed a day before Oswego game
.

Rough sledding so far although with only 2 players with SUNYAC experience and 9 of the 13 bring freshman or sophomore, growing pains are just that .. Growing pains

Having 3 games in 4 days last week ( Oswego, New Paltz and Oneonta) and 4 games this week ( Plattsburgh Monday, Potsdam Tuesday then same 2 teams at their place Thursday and Friday) will be a tough test. For anyone

Their A on the hole, in my opinion, is head coach Fajri Ansari.  If anyone can turn them around, he can.

I'm a die hard BENGALS fan so I'm gonna hope for the best!

Go BENGALS!!
