Bport Eagles are off to 2-1 start with wins over Keystone and an always tough Hobart College. They look to be a pretty solid group with Wallace and Beckett leading the way. They should be in the mix for the top of SUNY's. Obviously, #5, Oswego is the team to beat.

SUNY's seem to be holding a slight edge in the nonconference tilts with the Liberty League. I can remember the days when the Liberty League was head and shoulders above the SUNY's but not anymore.

Looking forward to successful SUNYAC season. Good Luck to All!!!

Two more SUNYAC - LL data points will be added in the North Woods this weekend, as the Potsdam Bears visit St. Lawrence on Friday night and cross the Racquette River to visit Clarkson on Saturday afternoon.

Bport went down to the city and handled York 95-64 before Thanksgiving and open up with Buff St on Tuesday at Buff.

I was a little surprised the Oswego lost to Naz 80-77 at Naz. I knew Naz had a good squad but thought the Lakers would hand them 1st defeat. Oswego opens up against Fredonia.

Good luck to all the SUNY schools!!!

SUNYAC opens conference play tonight.

In the Eastern Half of the state, travel partners face off with Plattsburgh at Potsdam and the lone remaining undefeated team, Oneonta hosting travel partner New Paltz.

In the central/west, we have Brockport at Buffalo State, Geneseo at Cortland, and Fredonia at Oswego.

double headers with the women, ladies at 5:30 men at 7:30.

Game of the night in the SUNYAC appears to be the Brockport Golden Eagles taking a two hour drive along Rt 104 to take on the #12 Oswego Lakers.  These are two of the top teams in the conference and this seems to be unusually early in the season for this matchup.  Jahidi Wallace and Jeremiah Sparks going at it will be fun to watch.

Bport and Oswego is big early season matchup and should be very competitive. It will be interesting to see how the Lakers defend Beckett for the Eagles. Wallace is the veteran but Beckett has had a great start to the season. I give the Lakers an edge over my beloved Eagles, but games are played for a reason!!! Good Luck, Eagles!!!

Scooter is a happy man tonight.  His Eagles went into Laker Hall and beat Oswego 58-47 in a low scoring affair, likely knocking the Lakers out of the National Rankings.

Jahidi Wallace had 21 to lead the Eagles and Mekhi Beckett added 15.  Devin Green led Oswego with 11 points.  Oswego was held to 25% shooting at home.

Bear- You are so right. The Eagles played a super defensive game and scored just enough. Thank
god the the foul shots were falling tonight.(17-23) The Lakers are tough whereever you play them, but my Eagles SOARED tonight!!!!

A tough Cortland squad comes to the Eagles' nest tomorrow PM. Got to keep the streak rolling!! Rest up and take the fire out of those Dragons!!!

Spanny's R ed Dragons had to travel to Fredonia and squeaked one out 70-64. Now at the Eagles' Nest against Dunne's Red Hot Eagles at 5PM. Both are 2-0 in conference play can gain an early season advantage for SUNYAC playoff time.

Can my Eagles put together a GREAT weekend of hoops? I give them the edge tonight at home but will be a barnburner. Spanny hates to lose to the other PE school, THE PORT! Good luck, Eagles!!!

Cortland with real nice 85-78 win at previously unbeaten Utica this afternoon. K. Lubin with 19 RDragon points to lead five visitors in double figures. Corts lead throughout, though never by much. UC within one late. Lubin nails 3-ball to lead strong CSt finish. Dragons 8-1, Pioneers 6-1

I attended the Mauro Panaggio Memorial Tourney at DME Academy in Daytona Beach on December 18-19. I got to see my Golden Eagles split two games losing to Illinois College and defeating North Vermont at Lydon. It was a fun trip and nice to spend a little time with the Bport guys. I hope they had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!! Get ready to take care of business in the SUNY's!!! Good luck!!!

Big win, I deed. May go a long way come tournament time. I expect Utica to be up there and regionally ranked too.

Seems like fatigue got the best of Cortland today.  Juniata isn't a bad team but all things equal Cortland should probably have won that.  Grunder played all 80 minutes this weekend.  That does not seem particularly sustainable heading into the grind of SUNYAC conference play. Cam Williams played 75 minutes and Kareem Lubin would have probably played the same if not for getting in foul trouble today.

Oswego got a really good win @ Utica today in a game that was double digits for most of the contest.  Utica was without one of their best players, but I don't know if it would have mattered much.
