I believe it's one application for hosting, but you don't have to be able to host the second weekend to host the first.

Absolute beat down of Cortland today by Oswego.  That's a statement win if I've ever seen one.  Has a SUNYAC team pulverized as many teams in a season within the last 25 years or so as the Lakers have this year?  I really hope they put in a bid to host, would love to see some midwest teams go in there thinking they're hot s*** and get a pounding.

In total agreement with you. The Laker team this season has really stepped it up this last quarter of the season. They are beating some very good SUNY teams soundly. I hope they host too even though I would still have to watch on video. My Eagles have to face them Friday night and I am hoping for a repeat performance of the early season game. They better have their AAA game on because the Lakers are for real. Good Luck, Eagles!!!!

BTW--I think the last team to show this type of SUNY domination was the 2001-02 Brockport Golden Eagles that went 28-3 and reached the Elite 8!

04-05 Potsdam team also reached the Elite 8, 27-4 that year, lost to eventual runner-up U of R in the Sectional Final after defeating unbeaten St. John Fisher in the Sweet 16.

I wish this site allowed clown emojis because they are an apt description of the top 16 rankings which excluded Oswego.  It's no wonder this region's board doesn't have much activity these days, these teams never get the recognition they deserve.   Can't wait for a 9 loss Rochester to host a first weekend pod featuring Oswego playing them in the first round.

Yeah, that's rough. St. Thomas TX was missing too.

I suspect this was facetious, but if not, I don't know why this would happen. Oswego is ranked ahead of Rochester in the same region.

It did seem like there was a floor to the SOS for teams that were included in the Top 16, and Oswego was at the bottom there. Also Oswego has fewer games against regionally ranked opponents than just about everyone included.

Of course it's a facetious comment but it's pointing out what I feel to be absolute nonsense from the committee. There are other criteria besides SOS and RvR. They can't use the eye test or anything not listed in the criteria, but a peek at Massey and Matt Snyder's efficiency ratings reveals them top 10 in both which should be a clue. Let's just look at some head to head stuff (actual criteria). Oswego is a week removed from beating Cortland (regionally ranked) by 40. They beat New Paltz by 50 who a top 16 team (Williams) beat by 6.

In the eyes of the committee, those are both W's. For all we know, Oswego is 17 -- it's not like Oswego is 32.

I know when I am doing my Top 25 ballot, the difference between my No. 10 and No. 17 this season is basically a wash. There are so many really good teams.

Great to see Oswego serve the OAC some humble pie today.  John Carroll returns a lot so they'll be back next year, but Oswego showed a lot of poise after their slow start.

Assuming RMC wins today, it doesn't get any easier for the Lakers next week.

Congrats to Coach Jason Leone and the Oswego State Lakers for once again making the Sweet Sixteen. It would be nice if they could pull off a few more wins but they will have to do so, on the road, at the top ranked team in the country.

Win or lose next week, they have already made the SUNYAC proud! Another outstanding year on the court.

Welcome back!

Thank you, Pat. I've never really been away as I read the boards all the time. I just don't comment much anymore.

Hey Magic--Ditto your comment. The Lakers are representing the SUNYAC's very well. I wish it could have been my Eagles but am very proud of Coach Leone and the Lakers!!! Keep it going!!!! GO LAKERS!!!!

That has to be the biggest win in Oswego history, right?  What a performance.  Playing the #1 team/defending champs on their own court who had a 64 game home win streak, and win rather comfortably.   I don't think RMC gave the Lakers respect until it was too late.  Even the commentating team pre-game was talking about the game like it was already a done deal.  Oswego continuously beat them off the dribble and they looked completely shook.    The Lakers only lose one player from this year's team too.
