Thanks Ralph...  thought it was eitehr last night, or today as they have to get the travle plans in order...

Yes, I've gained at least one good baseball fan, haven't I?   :o

Yes, that loss cost them home court... but that is why we play the games.  To see what will happen.  Will be fun to watch unfold.

Very interesting subplots with the games at SLU. Brockport plays Williams which beat the Golden Eagles in the Sweet 16 the last time either team was in the NCAA tourney. I would expect a really high scoring game. Dave Paulsen, visits his old stomping ground in Larryland and could end up playing his old assistant, Chris Downs. And Brockport could potentially play a home and home with the Saints.

I am pretty sure that Whitmore is not happy about heading up to the North Country. Not a wonderful trip especially this time of year.

Plattsburgh gets a tough draw with Rochester, but that should be a battle. It will definitely be an interesting game to watch. It might your prototypical NCAA tourney game in the 50s. Whoever wins that game, I believe, will get to the Sweet 16.

Would love nothing better than to see a Brockport-Plattsburgh rematch in the sweet 16.

Hello SUNYAC peoples, we're collecting previews for each team in the tourney on one of the multiregional boards. If I get them by Friday I may even be able to stick them in one document for people to peruse. A fun little tourney resource of sorts. Would someone here be willing to do one for Brockport State and Plattsburgh State? Thanks much!

Say what you want about my beloved SUNYAC, but tonite, Brockport recorded a neutral court win (74-66) over the NESCAC Champion Williams, and Plattsburgh came from 15 down in the seond half to squeak out a 61-60 win in Rochester over UAA power University of Rochester.

Be interested in Pat C's reaction to a "weak" conference posting not one but two wins over "power" conferences.

Brockport wins 74-66 and Plattsburgh hits a shot at the buzzer to beat U OF R 61-60. Good night for the SUNYAC!!

So much for your UR/WIlliams matchup in the sweet 16 eh Pat  ;).  I'm just kidding...I had to stick the jab in... Don't worry I've gotten plenty of my picks wrong as well lol.

Profile

Brockport

24-5, 14-2 conference

Depth, Depth, Depth.  Their second five could start for most D-III teams.  They routinely have four or 5 in doubles, and at least 8 players on the roster are capable of doubles an any given night

Starters

Sherod Harris - 5-9, JUCO from Monroe CC.  If he was 6-1, he'd be playing high D-I.  Can dominate a game on defense, offense, and especially in transition

Mychal Wilkes - 5-11 So.  Deadly shooter, draws tough defensive assignment, hard nose, in your face.

Brandon Williams - 6-2 220 - the SUNYAC's version of Charles Barkley.  Can shoot from the outside, and uses his strength and athleticism to dominate in the paint.  Runs very well for his size.

Cantrel Parish - 6-7 Freshman - long and athletic.  Wonder how s mid-major missed this guy.  he can shoot, run, and especially rebound.

Aaron Poles - 5-10 Jr. G, unselfish, role player, does what it takes to win.

This team can beat you any way you want.  If it's a track meet, they can run with anyone.  In halfcourt, they have great athletes who are all strong, quick, and competitive.

Very deep bench.  As I said their second five could start at a lot of D-III Schools.

They beat SLU by 30 earlier this season.  Only an upset in the SUNYAC tournament kept them from hosting the Rochester area pod in the NCAA's.

Hopefully SLU will pay attention to business tonite vs. Elms instead of looking ahead to Brockport.

Thanks thebear! :)

Incidentally, I am famous for not liking Rochester (I just thought one Rochester team was overrated and it got out of hand and exaggerated, but at this point it's way too funny to let go... :D ). Soo.... Go Brockport! ;D ;)

Must have been one heck of a game...

Anthony Williams hits a 40' shot at the buzzer to give the Plattsburgh State Cardinals a 61-60 win over Univ. of Rochester. The Cards came back from a 15 pt. deficit with 10 min. to go. Down 53-38 they go on a 9-0 run to get within 6 at 53-47. UofR scores twice to go back up by 10 with 5min to play. But the Cards come  back again to get within 2 setting the stage for Williams heroics. UofR missed a couple of key FT's that could have made it a 2 possession game with less than 30 secs. remaining.  Williams showed why he was the SUNYAC POY with 28 pts. 3 3's and a perfect 7 for 7 from the line. Travis Gorham added 14 pts and 13 reboundsfor the Cards.
UofR was led by Jon Onyiriuka with 15 pts, Uche Ndubizu with 11 and Rob Dominiak also had 11.

St John Fisher leads Wentworth 51-34 at the half. Looks like it might be the Cardinals playing the Cardinals tomorrow nite to get to the sweet 16. Too bad Plattsburgh has to play on their court.
