Superb win for the Eagles. Solid D, patient half court game, and transition when available. And Williams was no slouch. Game in on a 5 game streak including huge win over Amherst. Like every Paulsen coached team they defended for the full 35, great ball movement on offense - intensity on both ends of the court. Drained big 3s for a modest lead at the half. Difference was eagles depth and unselfish play. Brandon Williams was amazing in the post, consistently knocking down little jump hooks with either hand. Maldonado contributed a first half 5 point run to end a Willaims rally. Sherod Harris did what he does..."What are you doing?...Oh, great play." Parish again solid, particularly for a frosh. Ian Mack turned in solid minutes at the point and Jermaine Johnson blew people away with his ups.

Kudos to Whitmore. Nice adjustments at the half provide better perimiter defense. Also kudos to the merry band of  weak-whistled refs who shall remain nameless to protect the inept. Never before have I seen a ref refuse to use a visible 5 second closely guarded count. After much prompting from the bench and fans, whistles became audible and the 5 count was reinstated. Well, there are lots of rules and, for some, its clearly hard to remember them all.

St. Lawrence/Elms a snooze. Larries are not particularly quick, Elms even less so, and crash in the 1st round again.

Luck to Eagles and Cards tonight. They'll need it playing in 2 venues famous for homers.

Either the Announcers are whining incessently for no reason, or the refs are trying to perform a miracle for the saints.   According to the announcers the home crowd isn't too sportsmanlike either...

42-35 Eagles about 13 mins left in 2nd half.

pg04

Brockport pulling away a little bit, 52-38 with about 9 mins left.

pg04

The wheels have fallen off really... 61-41 Brockport under 8 minutes left.

Final:

Brockport   74
St. Lawrence 49

Brockport faces Fisher/ Cardinal winner

So who do you think will host between SJF, Brockport, JCU and Wooster?

pg04

Wooster would also be my guess.  It should really be that way anyway but the way they set up the bracket I'm not too sure...

FisherDynasty

Fisher should host, #1 seed in the east. #1 seed in great lakes lost.

pg04

Yes, but Lake Erie only got the bye because they couldn't host two rounds of basketball... Wooster is the #2 team in the nation, by all rights they should host in my Opinion.

The games should be in Wooster. They have been ranked high all year long and there is no reason why they wouldn't host. They have a nice facility and a quality fanbase. I couldn't imagine the disappointment opposing teams would have if they walked into Fisher's gym.  I guess they just announced Fisher will host the game, which is better off for Brockport considering its 20 minutes down the road.

Congrats to the Golden Eagles, I think it might be a Whitmore rule, "If you make the NCAAs, you have to go the Sweet 16." Everyone of his teams that have made the tourney have gotten to the round of 16. I really hope they pound Fisher. Should be interesting with neutral court referees on that game. Will they call a lot of fouls because of Brockport's physical nature?

Regardless, good luck Golden Eagles, make a statement.

John McGraw

D3hoops.com Top 25 has no bearing on who will host sectionals or who the NCAA has seeded higher.

pg04

John,

We know this---, but we are stating that there is such a desparity in the poll between Wooster and the other 3 teams (Ie none of the other 3 teams are IN the poll) that it almost seems like Wooster HAS to be the best team (Even Massey has them 2)...unless all the D3hoops voters are unreliable.

Another thing could be that Wooster just has so much respect from the people that vote for D3hoops because of their program that they are continually voted high. The people that vote usually don't regard the East Region very high so it is actually funny that the NCAA ruled Fisher as the host.
