My only thinking in regards to Fisher hosting is that the NCAA doesn't look into seating capacity as much as it use to. In years past that was the case. In all my years involved in some capacity in D3, that is my only thinking. Could be in part because of the enormous tv contract the NCAA has with CBS, they don't worry about the revenue brought from D3 contests. Not that it was much to begin with anyway.

Fanbase is one of the criteria, although it is a low priority and may never actually come into play:

Quote from: Men's Championship Handbook, page 7, emphasis addedSite Selection
The Championships Committee has prioritized the following site-selection criteria for all championships:
1. Quality and availability of the facility and other necessary accommodations;
2. Geographical location (which may include such factors as rotation of sites, weather, accessibility and transportation costs);
3. Seeding; and
4. Attendance history and revenue potential, which shall be considered necessary to assure fiscal responsibility.

Hey guys, I just thought I'd pop in to let you know about a little project we did. A group of around 40 posters banded together and created a Unofficial Guide to the 2006-2007 NCAA Tourney, that contains a team-by-team breakdown of the teams in the tournament. This is especially cool given the fact that the official NCAA guide gives you very little insight into the teams, and nearly all of the previews in the Unofficial Guide were made by fans of the team.

The website is: http://wheatonhoops.googlepages.com/ncaatourney and on that website you can find browsable information, as well as a 19 page printable PDF document. This was updated as of this morning.

While I doubt that we'll ever get any posters to submit information for the 11 teams that did not submit previews, it does include previews from 48 of the 59 teams in the tournament, and all of the teams in the Sweet Sixteen. I hope you check it out and enjoy the content!

If there are any corrections or content additions you would like to me, please submit them to me by PM. Thanks!

It doesn't say if you can CALL to reserve pre-sale tickets.  I would assume because they gave specific times and said "at the athletic offices" that would mean you need to do that in-person.

I think you mean Curle, not Clune at Plattsburgh.

Rob Clune played at Albany during that era, and his brother Paul was the coach at Oneonta before Medici.

P.S.  One of the answers to why Plattsburgh took so long between NCAA wins is that they were 2-37 vs. Jerry Welsh coached teams from 1969-1991.  One of their two wins came in '75-76 when the Cards went to the Final Four.

thanks thebear.    I just made a typo.
I called Tom Curle , Clune the other day and got a crazy look from him.
He actually knew who I meant.

I was at that game and tormented Jerry all night long.
Actually I tormented him for 5 years.    ;D
They always beat us ( in many different ways ) but we always gave them a fight.
The only way he could stop Larry Parker was to have him in foul trouble.   :(  seemed to always happen
at your place   hmmm....
My senior year he asked if I wanted to come work for him.
I just asked for his autograph  and smiled.

Well, neither Alfred is a SUNYAC conference school.
However,   The SJF  coach was assistant at Geneseo St at one time
AND  has two ex-Cortland players as assistants this year.

SUNYAC  - conference of coaches  :o

What do two things do athletic programs at Brockport, Plattsburgh, Oneonta and Potsdam have in common ?

They have all won at least one NCAA National championship (any sport)
AND
they have all made it to at least one NCAA Men's basketball Final Four in Div III.   ;D   from 1970 through this year.

Go  Brockport !!!!
