One good night does not a prognosticator make. Probably couldn't pick my nose in the Big East. Look at what happened yesterday. And it's easy to pick winners when there's nothing on the line.

"....By the way did you happen to catch my predictions for tonite's games in the SUNYAC? 6 for 6. Missed the Geneseo-Potsdam game by a point

So YOU were the one who influenced the refs to make bad call after bad call?

Unfortunately two of our three refs I believe were from the plattsburgh area, wish they had stayed home.

The loss was not totally their fault, but they made three critical bad/missed calls in the last minute that all favored Geneseo.

Worst was a missed charge call on a Geneseo in-bounds play under the Potsdam basket with 1.1 seconds left.  Happened right in front of the ref, bodies flying, obvious charge, no call.

They also wiped out three made baskets by Bears, by calling fouls on the floor, rather than in the act.

Man, I hope the camera's don't get a shot of those Plattsburgh officials getting off the team bus Tuesday night.  You know how those "North Country officials ride with the coaches".  ;D

The way our season's been going, that would be par for the course.  No sense giving us the home court advantage for our home game.

I'm sorry. I actually hated to make that prediction as I went to Potsdam St. in the 60's. And Coach Dobbs is from Peru NY  just down the road from where I now reside and his Uncle is a friend of mine. So believe me bear I would love to pick Potsdam all the time. And I made those picks on Thurs. night, before I saw Geneseo play Plattsburgh on Fri.  After watching Geneseo score a whopping 19 pts in the 2nd half against the Cards I thought the Bears were probably going to grab a win on Sat. Sorry to hear about the missed calls that might have cost them the game. I do know one of the refs who did that game and hope it wasn't him that you had issues with. He never does the Plattsburgh St. games but I've seen him do a lot of local high school games and he always does a fine job.

Going to try and make the Potsdam-Plattsburgh game on Tues. in Potsdam if a can talk 1 of the Plattsburgh coaches to ride over with me instead of the team bus. If you're going tell me where you sit and I'll stop by and say hello.

The ref I know to be from Plattsburgh had his share of bad/missed calls, but so did his crewmates. In particular, in lead position, he called  a foul on a scoring drive to the basket by the Bears in OT, yet let his crew mate, in trail position change it to a charge even though the lead ref had the best position and had made the call.

Really feeling bad for Coach Dobbs right now.  He works his butt off, but his team seems snakebit with injuries (starting PG didn't play against either 'port of Geneseo this weekend), and he gets his team in a position to win or tie, and the Z's don't do their job.

Probably shouldn't count out Geneseo from the mix just yet. Knights' lineup getting fit again with return of T. Kitson, certainly one of their aces if not top performer. Saw first action in quite some time and very limited bench duty on Friday. Started and went nearly 30' Saturday. Key test tomorrow night when Gens entertain Corts.

Having seen them both play, would think Cortland has the edge.  They have size and depth in the post, Coston gives them an athletic dimension they haven't had in a while.  Think the Dragons have the edge in the coaching dept as well.  I think Cortland gets more out of their bench, especially with Niehoff & Evans.

SUNYAC really has center stage tomorrow night, great matchups.

I agree with the Bear, the Plattsburgh official was going to call a block with a few seconds left, thus sending the game in OT or giving Potsdam the win (depending on the outcome of the foul shot), but the official at mid-court came running in and called the offensive foul. That official was from Watertown. I don't know who was resonsible for the missed call at 1.2 seconds, but it was in such a spot that all 3 had to have seen it. Taft would have had to make both free throws inorder to send the game into OT, but hey, he should have at least had the opportunity as he did sacrifice his body and got plowed over by a much larger and moving player. It's no wonder the 3 officials were gone from the court as the final horn was still sounding..........

Any referee that lives remotely close to Plattsburgh, check that, official, ref., umpire is flat out incompetent.  I don't know if they cheat, I just think they are bad.  Obviously the requirements to join that board up there consist of playing darts at the local legion and just being buddies with some of the current refs.  Not much better over in St. Law. county neither, but all of this is a result of poor H.S. ball in the area.  It still amazes me thought that some of these guys haven't got a little better.

bball12

The reason they never get better is because their are no consequences.  They get rated poorly by the coaches and you still see them getting games.  Thats the problem.  Their is just a shortage of good ref's

but all of this is a result of poor H.S. ball in the area.

Not sure that's the reason, we see a lot of Albany, Utica, Rochester, Syracuse refs that ref HS with big time talent (Blatche, Paulus etc.) & St. Rose/Le Moyne games, as well as Colgate/Cornell/Binghamton,Siena,U VM games and they're no prize either.

Since they mix the crews, you never have the same group working together, so get a lot of gaston & alphonse changing/overruling of calls.

It all gets back to assessment.  Since no one (colleges, conferences, officials boards) wants to pay the $ to properly assess these guys, they can do what ever they want and there are no consequences.  Since the refs can T up anyone they want for any reason, including looking funny at them, they get the "I can do no wrong mentality"

Unfortunately the integrity of the game is at stake.

Everyone says, let the players decide it on the floor, unfortunately that degenerates into bloody playground ball where people get hurt.
