That isn't an NCAA policy, about not selling the seats behind the opposing bench. Must be something the NCAA rep on site made up. They do reserve seating behind the bench for that team but they won't leave seats empty if the team can't fill them.

One Northern New York basketball team left.  Its off to Glens Falls to see if the Chateaugay Bulldogs can be the first team to bring a state title to Section 10 and Northern New York.

Not quite true, The women's teams from Malone, Madrid Waddington (coached by Potsdam alum Gary Tischler)  & Hammond are still alive in the women's tournament.  M-W plays in the semi's this afternoon, Malone in the finals tonight, and Hammond (defending St. Champs) in the finals tomorrow.

Heard on ESPN today that Potsdam alum Tim Welsh was let go by Providence.  He had a good ten year run, and lots of D-I jobs already open.

The Chateaugay Bulldogs are the first Boys Basketball team from Section X to win a New York State Basketball Title.  Since this is the mens side of the chat line didn't think I had to be that clear. Sorry. They played one hell of a team game. Never close they were up double digits most of the game.  The four senior starters have been playing togehter since CYO days.  If anyone has ever visited Chateaugay it isn't large.  I joked with my uncle that the entire town was at the game in Glens Falls.
I see that the Plattsburgh Cardinals are going to Lake Placid which is good for the SUNYAC and the frozen four.  Hope to see lots of red and white in Lake Placid!
Potsdam and Plattsburgh are rivals but at the end we can come together for a beer!!

And lets not forget the #1 ranked Plattsburgh State Women's Hockey team, who will be hosting the Final Four this weekend at Stafford Field House Ice Arena. They'll also be looking to give the SUNYAC conference back to back championships, by repeating as National Champs.

Glad to hear Tom Murphy is being honored by the NABC!! He was a terrific coach at Hamilton. One of the best all time in Division III. If Hamilton was involved in the NCAA's in the 80's he most likely would have given Jerry Welsh's teams a run for their money. The Bears were great back then and so were the Continentals!!

He now sits on the bench at Northeastern as an Assistant coach to one of his former players!! I hope you enjoy the moment Murph!!!!!!

Congrats to the Burg--I just completed my move to Tampa, Florida just in time for the First Round of the NCAA's as Tampa is hosting. Anyone seen who might be coming here!!!

Scooter,

I see you got Drake vs Western Kty. & UConn vs San Diego.  Drake and UConn should win 1st round games and Drake sneaks by UConn to get to the Sweet Sixteen. Hope you get to see the games. Have Fun.

Plattsburgh St. Men's Hockey team beat Elmira Saturday 6-3 and will play for the National Championship Sun. afternoon at 4:00 in the Herb Brooks Arena at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid. They will face St Norbert who beat Norwich 3-0 in the other semi-final.

Plattsburgh St. Women's Hockey team repeat as National Champions by defeating Manhattanville Sat. eve in Plattsburgh. I think the score was 3-1.

Top 10 reasons for a trip to the Final Four

1.   Salem hospitality: inviting, warm, and southern

2.   The Salem Civic Center: a classic arena, great staff, acres of parking, and fresh popcorn

3.   65 and Sunny

4.   A spacious, hospitality suite at the Roanoke Airport Hampton for $103.50 per night

5.   Brazilian Shrimp, Scallops, and Clams at Montaro's

6.   Visiting Fans – Hope had the most;  Amherst, fun and flamboyant; Ursinius, gracious in defeat; and Washington U. had, by far, both the rowdiest and most creative student section. The atmosphere was loud and electric

7.   Ursinus Bears – a small scholl with a he basketball tradition

8.   Hope Flying Dutchman – for 32 minutes they played the ultimate champion to a standoff in perhaps the most physical collegiate game I've seen

9.   Amherst Lord Jeffs – few teams have ever had the opportunity to defend their title in the championship game. Nice run.

10.   Washington U. in St. Louis Bears – Lock-down defense; lethal in transition; smooth, efficient, unselfish in the half court; poise; and Troy Ruths

Wish you all were here.
