WHY IS THERE NO MENS FASTPITCH SOFTBALL?

Because there is very limited interest among 18-22 year old men for it. Boys generally don't grow up playing it, they play baseball.  Most of the men who play it at a high level like ISC and ASA transition to it after their college years.

P.S.  The CAPS LOCK key is on your left.

Mr. Ypsi

I know essentially nothing about d3 softball (and don't know where to go to find out more), but wonder about the status of the CCIW in the softball world.  IWU is only 12th, despite totally dominating lately in the conference (last year they went undefeated), and returning two-time Pitcher of the Year Christy Engel.

In baseball, a dominating pitcher can still only win about one third to one quarter of your games.  In softball, she can win nearly all of them!

Is the CCIW so weak that IWU is being downgraded?

[Not a gripe - an honest question from a newbie.]

WIAC and ASC squads are well-represented, as expected. Coe at #5 is an interesting ranking after last years' strong run to the finals.

ASC softball tournament will have a new home, as indicated here:

Does anyone have any information on what criteria is used when selecting players for the NFCA Division III All American team? I noticed that Jessica Rhoads, from Messiah College was not selected although if you look at the statistics, she was arguably the top pitcher in Division III in 2009. Second in ERA, first in strikeouts per seven innings, first in hits allowed per seven innings, second in victories and first in winning percentage at .966 (28-1 record).
Now looking at the first, second and third teams as selected, there are a total of 11 pitchers selected including at-large selections. Is it possible that the selection committee believes there were 11 pitchers more deserving of all-america honors in 2009 than Jessica Rhoads? Looking at the statistics, this is very difficult to justify. The only possible explanation I can come up with is that the committee felt that the amazing statistics put up by Ms. Rhoads were recorded against inferior competition compared to those of the 11 pitchers selected to the team. Based on her performance in the national championship tournament against the top teams in the nation, even this argument has no basis. If someone has an explanation on how this could happen, please respond  so that I can understand.

Top 25 final:

(Tied) #21 Salisbury 11, #24 Rowan 3  5 innings (Seagulls' Brenneman went yard, a 5-spot in the Seagulls' second to last at-bat broke this one open-per Salisbury stats)

WLCALUM83

3/7/10 final:  Salisbury 8, Rowan 5 (Profs had the potential tying run at the plate in the 7th, but Seagulls' Mills got Rowan's Leskanic to ground out-per Salisbury PBP acct.)
