NESCAC squad Hamilton begins its' season by beating Geneseo State 4-1.
(Kiyana Arcayena - 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's -- Natalie Beebe got potential tying run Tara Brochu to strike out
             to end this one.)

Region 2 Final:  Fitchburg State 9, Suffolk 6 (The CCC squad put up a 6th inning 4-spot to pull to within 1 but Fitchburg State answered with 2 runs in the 7th and held on. Encouraging opener for Suffolk.)

I am guessing the NCAA will go back to a full 62 or 63 team NCAA playoff bracket for D3 this year. I tried to find it in writing from the NCAA but could not.  Also will they go back to the regional and super regional format?

If anyone knows I would appreciate an update.

Nevermind; just found it on Linfield's schedule:

Regionals: May 13-15
SR:           May 20-21
WS:          May 26-30

Atlantic East:  Cabrini is 7-3.

I read the pre-championship manual on NCAA.org but it is jacked up. It says 42-1-19 for bid distribution (62 teams), then puts Coast 2 Coast schools in both Pool A and Pool B. The UAA is in Pool B but Rochester is listed in both Liberty League and Pool B for Region 3. They also have Southern Virginia still in the C2C when they are now USA South.

The thing about the C2C is this: under the existing 7-team minimum for AQ, the league would have exhausted its 2-year grace period (carried over from the Capital Athletic Conference) during the wiped out 2020 season (5 teams) and the scotchtaped together 2021 season (6 teams).

Now that the minimum is only 6 teams, weren't they retroactively OK as soon as they got back to 6 teams last year and their grace period for only having 5 softball teams in the league starts this season, right? Pool B in 2024?

Looks like the 7 UAA schools plus Trinity DC is enough for 1 Pool B berth. Thing is, Trinity isn't playing this season. Maranatha Baptist is listed also - they definitely were on restricted membership and ineligible due to past violations, not sure if they are OK now. So the Pool B berth isn't really Pool B, it's a de facto A berth for the UAA - it's just the committee gets to decide the winner, not the players. Terrific.

Region 1 Final:  Hamilton 9, #10 Tufts 7 (Hamilton raced out to an 8-1 lead after 3 innings, then the Jumbos put up a 6th inning 5-spot to turn this one into an interesting ending. Hamilto's Natalie Beebe struck out the Jumbo's M. Adelman with the tying runs on base and 2 out in the 7th, preserving this mild upset).
