Coe swept Buena Vista to clinch the top seed for the ARC tournament 7-3 and 6-2. H Ausenhaus got the win in Game 1, Ellie Thurow in Game 2.

Luther-IA, Central-IA, Wartburg and Loras are also in. NE Wesleyan and Dubuque are still in contention for the final spot.  Dubuque will get in by sweeping Simpson tomorrow (Spartans hold tiebreaker over Prairie Wolves). A Simpson split or sweep and NE Wesleyan gets in.

Misericordia has the MAC Freedom AQ  They knocked off Lycoming 4-0 today to clinch.

Belhaven has the CCS Title! The Blazers won 2 games vs. Maryville-TN to take the title (and perhaps a Pool B bid??)   

York PA 4, Lebanon Valley 3  That result forces a deciding game for the MAC-Commonwealth AQ

NEWMAC Tournament at MIT-- update

Saturday's 3 elimination NEWMAC games are in the books, and the NEWMAC field is down to 3 teams-- Babson, Springfield, and MIT.

#5 seed Babson has survived to play in Sunday's noon Eastern elimination game vs the loser of today's winner bracket game coming up between top seed MIT and #2 seed Springfield.

The winner of the upcoming game between MIT and Springfield will advance to the potential Championship game Sunday at 2 PM Eastern only needing 1 more win to clinch the NEWMAC AQ.

Babson needs to win Sunday's noon elimination game vs the loser of MIT/Springfield and then have to defeat the winner of MIT/Springfield twice to clinch the AQ.  (3 wins total).     The loser of MIT/Springfield tonight would also have to win the next 3 games to clinch the NEWMAC AQ--first by defeating Babson in Sunday's noon Eastern elimination game.

Belhaven just has the CCS title.   Neither the CCS nor the Coast to Coast Conference have AQs this season-- Coast to Coast Conference used up their 2 year grace period of not having enough teams to qualify for an AQ, and is now just playing a tournament with just 3 teams (out of 4) in their softball league this season.  (Only Salisbury, Christopher Newport, and Mary Washington are playing next week for the C2C softball title.)

Salisbury, who is ranked #1 in Region V, is most likely the lock for the Pool B bid.  Belhaven is not ranked in Region VI.

SCAC updates

#2 St. Thomas defeats #5 Trinity(TX) 8-3 as Bailey Tisdale improved to 16-2.   St Thomas secures spot in Sunday's championship.
#1 Texas Lutheran run-rules #4 Centenary 8-0 in six innings, Centenary eliminated.
Texas Lutheran defeats Trinity 7-1, Ashlyn Strother pitched five innings to improve to 17-2.  Trinity eliminated.

Today's championship:
St. Thomas against TLU - TLU must win two games to win their ninth consecutive SCAC championship, otherwise the Celts (who are 1-2 against TLU this season) win their first.

NEWMAC update-- Sunday, May 7, 2023-- Games played at MIT

Game #9 is a final-- No. 2 seed Springfield 1, No. 5 Babson 0-- 2 out when walkoff run scored after a pitcher's duel.

Babson is eliminated-- Springfield advances to the NEWMAC Championship round vs MIT.

Game #10-- No. 2 seed Springfield at No. 1 seed MIT-- 2 PM Eastern (Championship Round)

MIT needs 1 win to clinch the NEWMAC AQ, while Springfield needs 2 wins.   If Springfield wins today vs MIT, the deciding game would be played tomorrow at 1 PM Eastern at MIT.
