Welcome back to the D3 Tournament, ETBU!

Final in deciding game-- ETBU 4, UT-Tyler 3  (Cordova singled with 2 outs and the bases loaded in the 7th to enable the Tigers to pull off the trifecta)

Anyone want to chime in on UT-Tyler's D3 Tournament chances?

Isn't Texas-Tyler hosting a regional?  I would think that helps there chances of getting in.

Patriots have 11 losses on the year, though.

Does Linfield have any shot in hosting a regional this year?

Northern Athletics Conference update:

Benedictine, Aurora, CUW, and Dominican are in. Lakeland has a good chance of getting in after sweeping MSOE today-- CUC, Marian and Edgewood are in a dogfight for the last NAthCon playoff spot

CUC is 11-11, Marian 10-12, Edgewood 7-13   Edgewood has to win out and get help. The Eagles need to sweep against Rockford tomorrow and hope Alverno sweeps Marian tomorrow. One more win by either CUC or Marian and Edgewood is eliminated. If Alverno does sweep Marian and Edgewood sweeps Rockford tomorrow, that makes the Edgewood/CUC doubleheader Monday important.

They were already announced and they didn't get one.

In West Conn's last regular season game of the year, they split with Trinity college.  Mag dargon took the loss in game 1, a 4-1 loss.  Meghan Mammone  accounted for the only run with a home run.  Western blew a 5-1 lead heading into the 7th, and came back to win 9-6 when Luigina Facchini belted a 3 run walk off homer for the 9-6 win.  Mag Dargon got the win relieving starter Stephanie Moss.  The Colonials will now host the LEC tournament which begins Saturday:
Eastern (the 1 seed) will face 6th seeded Plymouth state in the first game at 12, followed by the hosts Western (#2 seed) playing Mass-Boston (the 5 seed) at 2, Keene state (3 seed) against RIC (4 seed) at 4, and the day will conclude with the eastern/plymouth loser playing the Boston/Western loser at 6.

In the MIAA softball tournament, Adrian (#25 in the NFCA coaches poll) loses to Hope and host Alma (#8 in the NFCA coaches poll) loses to Trine.  The MIAA has a 4 team, double elimination tournament, so one of those two teams is going to end their season with 2 straight losses.

I don't know enough about the softball championships to know if there are any "at-large" bids, but if there are I would think the loser of the game between Alma and Adrian is most likely out.

LEC softball tournament underway at West Conn.

In the first game, the #1 seed Eastern Connecticut beat the 6 seed Plymouth state 7-1.
Mag Dargon leads the hosts (the 2 seed) over the 5th seeded Beacons as Western beats UMass-Boston 6-2.  That means the loser of Plymouth vs. Boston is the first team eliminated from winning the LEC championship.
Currently underway, the 4th seed RIC has a 2-0 lead in the 4th inning against 3rd seeded Keene state.  Winner of this game plays Western Connecticut tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM.  Speaking of Friday's schedule, here's whats happening:
Eastern Connecticut vs. the loser of Keene/RIC gets it going at 12, followed by Western against the Keene/RIC winner at 2.  The night session starts with the winner of Bosotn/Plymouth playing the loser of the noon game at 4, and the day concludes with the winners of the 12 and 2 games playing for a spot in the championship round Saturday afternoon.  I'll be back later tonight to update who's playing where and when Saturday, and the first team bounced.

IIAC Tournament:

Loras wins its' first ever tournament game, otherwise everything else goes as expected.

Northern Athletics Conference:

Both lowest seeded teams won their first games yesterday, (putting Dominican and CUW on the ropes)

In the first game today, Eastern eliminates Keene state from the LEC tournament with a 7-2 win.  Eastern will next face the RIC/Western winner at 6:00 PM with the winner advancing to Saturday's championship round.  Western vs. RIC will start shortly.  My fault, final was 7-2 Eastern NOT 7-3 as I initially posted.

Western and RIC scoreless in the top of the 4th.  Both pitchers strong in the early going as Mag Dargon for Western and Amanda Berard for RIC have given up only 1 hit each.  Western had 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs in the first, but thats as close as any teams come to scoring so far.

1-0 Western bot 6.  Jackie Zilnicki reached on an error, got sacrificed over to second, then went 3rd and scored on 2 wild pitches from Berard for the games first run.  RIC is the home team, so they will get last ups in the 7th even though its at West Conn.
2-0 Western final.  Anna Levesque got a homer in the 7th for the other run of the game.  Mag Dargon had a great game giving up only 1 hit, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.  Western improves to 27-10 overall, and will face state rival Eastern Connecticut in the winners bracket at 6:00 PM with the winner advancing to the championship round Saturday at 2 PM.  RIC falls to 31-10, and will play Boston in the losers bracket comming up next with first pitch around 4:10 or so.

Next game, comming up around 4:05 or 4:10 is #4 Rhode Island College against #5 UMass-Boston.  Loser is the second team elteam eliminated on the day, joing Keene state, winner advances to Saturday and plays  the Eastern/Western loser at 12 noon on Saturday.
