Birmingham Southern College (25-9, 13-3 SCAC last year including 3 wins over Depauw) picked to win SCAC.  They won the East SCAC last year but were ineligble for post season play (4th year of transition from D1).  This year they are eligible for post season-

If preseason polls mean anything at all, and I suspect they do not, it appears the Iowa Conference might do something with three teams in the top 15.  Luther at #5 and Coe at #9 could be real contenders.  Ofcourse, it all depends on new pitchers for each.

Unless they aren't coming back for some reason, Coe returns their top two pitchers this year.

In the CCIW, North Central is picked as the favorite to win the conference title.

Western Connecticut is in Florida and will open their season tomorrow (yes we have not played a game yet this year) with a double header.  First game is at 1:00 PM against Geneseo state.  Geneseo is 1-3 heading into Thursday's games and this will be their final game in Florida before they head back to New York I presume on Saturday.  The second game will be against Hood College at 5:00 PM; Hood is 5-7 on the year and this will be their 2nd to last game in Florida before heading back to Maryland; they play Bowdoin at 7:00 PM in their final Florida game.

This is opening week-end for many teams.

Western opens the season with 2 victories.
In the first game we got a 10-2, 5 inning victory over Geneseo state.  A few hours later, we got a 5-0 victory over Hood.  No boxscores availible from either school (Western doesn't even have the results posted on their site), but I assume Mag Dargon started game 1 and Stephanie Moss started game 2.  We continue with a double header tomorrow: Bates at 9 AM, Washington & Jefferson at 11 AM.

NCF

North Central opened their spring breal tour with a 5-7 loss to Denison.

Western improves to 3-0 with a 7-0 win over Bates.  Still looking for a result from the W&J game.
Western improves to 4-0 with an 8-2 win over Washington & Jefferson.  So far in our 4 games we have outscored the opposistion 32-4 on the year.  We will be back in action Sunday: Luther at 9 AM, Chicago at 11:00 AM.  Luther might be the best team we play all season, and we have 2 games against Eastern, will be a good test for our team in the early going.
