Things take another wacky turn:

Final just in:  Gustavus Adolphus 5, Tufts 0  (Jumbos are eliminated.)  Gusties' Truebenbach tosses a 3-hit shutout, R Click's RBI double key hiit in 5th.

Tomorrow's schedule:

Coe vs. Gustavus Adolphus
Messiah vs. Coe/GAC winner  (Coe/GAC winner will have to beat Messiah twice to take the title.)

(PS. Thanks-ECSU alum--considering how late in the season this topic was started-let's see how much more it can grow!)

WLCALUM83,

You obviously have taken a keen interest in D-III womens softball.

Do you have a daughter who plays, or have coached?

WLCALUM83

No daughter, haven't coached, but I have a cousin whose daughter played for UW-Oshkosh through the 2008 season (Oshdude has seen this this former player in action).

Messiah wins the title!

5/18 Final:  Messiah 2, Coe 0  (Messiah's Seneca had a SF-RBI, and Bergakker homered later to account for the Falcons' scoring.

Coe eliminated Gustavus Adolphus in the first game of the day.

This is the third national title for the 08-09 school year for Messiah  (The other 2 were in men's and women's soccer).

Had Coe taken the title, it would have been a mild upset, IMHO. The Kohawks weren't ranked in the last Top 25 poll I checked, and in Coe's first game against IL Wes in that regional final, IL Wes had them on the ropes but just couldn't deliver the knockout blow. Didn't expect Coe to beat Tufts either. If the IIAC hasn't awarded its' sofball COY yet, Coe should get it hands down.
