This poster remembers when Muskingum made a few deep runs in the D3 Tournament several years back-(when Randi Dance & Co were on that squad) -- Muskingum may have slipped since then, but not much.

John Carroll is another team in the OAC that is coming on strong.  Muskingum and Mount Union will be there.  ONU lost 4 seniors but have a strong Jr class.

The University Athletic Association has just released their program for the 2011 UAA Softball Championship Tournament, which begins on Thursday, March 10, 2011, in Altamonte Springs, FL, and continues through Monday, March 14.

Emory is the defending UAA Softball Champion, and is currently ranked #20 in the NFCA Poll.

Wash U tied for 2nd with Brandeis in the UAA last season, and is currently ranked #19 in the NFCA Poll.

Brandeis got a preseason ranking of #25 in the NFCA Poll, but has since dropped out of the top 25-- still receiving votes, however.

The program contains the season previews of all 5 UAA softball teams that compete for the UAA Softball title-- Chicago does not compete for the UAA Softball title due to the fact that Chicago has final exams for the winter quarter during the week of the tournament every year.

The UAA does not have an automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Softball Tournament-- all UAA teams compete for Pool B slots due to the fact that only 6 UAA schools sponsor varsity softball.

The program can be found at:

Here's news on a result that may shake things up a bit in the Top 25:

My DD and I had a chance to catch the UAA tourney yesterday.  One of my former TB players is on Emory's squad, so we watched them play Wash U.  Emory looks as good as their record, having broken open a close 3-0 game with a line drive HR to go up 6-0.  The game ended on a 2-run walkoff HR, for a 6 inning run rule.

Honestly, Wash U got a few bad calls, and a bum deal on a fielder obstruction call.  Those things all led to Emory's 3-0 lead.  Without that, who knows.

All in all, Wash U looked realy good too.  We also watched them play Rochester, which was another good game.  Wash U hung on to pull it out (3-2 going into the 7th, then added a few runs to put it away).

Also saw Brandeis (looked good against Case), Rochester, and Case play.

It was a great day watching some very good softball.
