La. College has stumbled down the stretch. If the Lady Cats don't get hot during the ASC tourney, they will likely miss the post season for the first time in a long time.

On Thursday Western softball pounded out a 21-11 win over in-state rival Wesleyan University.  Mag Dargon picked up her 10th win of the season.  Luigina Facchini was the star on the offensive side going 3-4 with 3 home runs, 5 runs scored and 6 rbi's including a grand slam. Western finished with 6 home runs on the day including those 3 by Facchini and 1 by starter Mag Dargon. The second game was suspended due to darkness in the bottom of the 5th with Western holding a slight 8-7 advantage.  Depending on future schedules it may resume at a later date.

Western is currently playing @ UMass-Boston right now.  Their game @ UMass-Dartmouth scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed.

ETBU sweeps LC in season finale. Word on sidelines is that with the losses LC's hopes for the conference tournament are over. At large bid for a team that doesnt even participate in Conference tournament?? Unlikely.

Mag Dargon throws a complete game shutout as she shut down the Beacons today.  Finished with 7 hits, 7 strikeouts, 0 walks on the afternoon.   Top 5 in the Colonial order went 9-18 in the first game with 3 of the 5 runs scored and 1 of the 2 rbi's.
Western finishes the day with the split as they fall in the second game 8-6.  Amy Hartman finished 3-4 with 2 runs scored, 2 rbi's and was a home run away from the cycle.  Mag Dargon started the second game as well, didn't go as well as the first; gave up 3 runs (1 earned) in 4 and a third.  Stephanie Moss replaced her and suffered her second career loss as the gave up the remaining 5 runs in a 1 and 2 thirds to take the loss.
Boston goes to 19-11, 3-5 in the conference.  Western goes to 17-8, 3-3 in the LEC.  Western returns to the field Tuesday, April 26 as they host a double header with state and LEC rival Eastern Connecticut.  Game times slated for 5 PM and 7 PM.

If it weren't for Coe's loss to Loras, we'd have a three-way tie at the top of the Iowa Conference, as Coe swept Luther, Central Swept Coe and Luther Swept Central.

The IIAC Tournament should be interesting with three legit top 10 teams in the country.

ASC Final just in:

ETBU 8, UT-Tyler 0  6 innings  (Tigers used a 4-run 3rd to get distance,)

Now we find out if the Tigers can pull off the trifecta today.

Welcome back to the D3 Tournament, ETBU!

Northern Athletics Conference update:

Benedictine, Aurora, CUW, and Dominican are in. Lakeland has a good chance of getting in after sweeping MSOE today-- CUC, Marian and Edgewood are in a dogfight for the last NAthCon playoff spot

CUC is 11-11, Marian 10-12, Edgewood 7-13   Edgewood has to win out and get help. The Eagles need to sweep against Rockford tomorrow and hope Alverno sweeps Marian tomorrow. One more win by either CUC or Marian and Edgewood is eliminated. If Alverno does sweep Marian and Edgewood sweeps Rockford tomorrow, that makes the Edgewood/CUC doubleheader Monday important.
