Lynchburg sweeps #9 VA Wesleyan 4-3 and 3-2.

Remaining schedules for 4 teams still in contention for top SAA spot:

Berry:  4/9 DH 4/10 single game at Milsaps; 4/15 DH., 4/16 single game vs. BSC.
BSC:  4/9 DH 4/10 single game vs Hendrix; 4/15 DH, 4/16 single game at Berry
Hendrix:  4/9 DH, 4/10 single game vs BSC: 4/15 TH, 4/16 single game vs. Millsaps
Millsaps: 4/9 DH. 4/10 single game vs. Berry; 4/15 TH, 4/16 single game at Hendrix

Berry:  2 more in-SAA wins and at least the #2 seed will be clinched by that squad.
BSC:  4 more in-SAA wins and this squad clinches one of the top 2 seeds.
Hendrix:  Must sweep BSC to have a chance at the 2nd seed, otherwise, a series win over Millsaps gives the Warriors the 3 seed.
Millsaps:  Must sweep Berry for a shot at the #2 seed; the Majors take the series over Hendrix, they get the 3 seed.

It will be a very interesting last 2 weekends of the regular season in this conference (though on paper, I can't see either top 2 squad letting up any).

Region 10 ASC:

"#7 ETBU goes 2 and 1 against the ARV Cru, 4/1-2:  Tigers won 5-0 on 4/1, squads split on 4/2 with Cru getting the early 3-0 win, and ETBU taking the nightcap 7-2."

Belhaven goes 2-1 vs. McMurry.  They hold a 2 game lead over ETBU with I believe 12 games to play (They have already played each other).

Northwest Conference:
Linfield has a 3 game lead over George Fox (they have already played each other)

SCIAC Conference:
Chapman is in first but a group of 4 is right behind them.

SCAC Conference:
TLU is undefeated but still has #2 St. Thomas and #3 Trinity.

Should Belhaven and ETBU finish the regular season tied, the Blazers would have the tie-breaker having beaten the Tigers in 2 out of 3 games.

Belhaven remaining opponents (3 games each):
LeTournea, Hardin Simmons, Ozarks, UTD

ETBU remaining opponents (3 games each):
Concordia, UTD, Letournea

Juniata salvages a split vs. St. Vincent 6-9 and 10-5.

In Game 1, St. Vincent stunned Juniata with a 6th inning 8-spot.

In Game 2, Juniata said, "We'll get even." with a 6th inning 3-spot which gave the Eagles enough distance to hang on for the split.

There are no unbeaten D3 teams.

NAC East Division Standings show NVU-Johnson with 1 in-conference loss, but I'm not seeing any other in-NAC squad with an in-conference win--(is the 2/24 opener against NVU-Lyndon considered an in-conference loss? Shouldn't another in-NAC squad have a corresponding win?

Only throwing the question out there--

Error corrected, apparently no NAC in-conference games have been played yet.

4/9 SAA Finals:
Millsaps split with #12 Berry 5-4 and 1-8. (Game 1:  Majors' Abbi Tycer knocked in the 2 runs that gave Millsaps the win here.)  (Game 2:  Vikings' Anna Jackson, Morgan Frye and Shelby Daniel 2 RBI each. Emily Whitehead 5 hit complete game.

#4 BSC sweeps Hendrix 11-1, 2-0 (Game 1 5 innings. Ranked squad uses a 4th inning 6-spot to break this one open and Hailee Bryan tossed a 5-hit complete game. In the nightcap, a 6th inning fielders' choice and throwing error provided all the scoring and with the potential tying runs on base in the 7th and 2 out, Caroline Campbell got the Warriors' Kelsey Sample to strike out swinging.

SAA standings updates:
Tiebreaker scenarios:  Should Rhodes and Hendrix finish tied, Rhodes took 2 of 3 from the Warriors; if Rhodes and Millsaps tie, the Majors took 2 of 3, so they would end up ahead of Rhodes.
Either BSC or Berry will take the top seed (whoever takes 2 of their 3). Ditto for the 3rd seed battle between Millsaps and Hendrix. Centre swept Rhodes today to get off the in-conference schneid, and has a chance to escape the SAA cellar by taking the upcoming series with Sewanee next weekend. Centre needs to win 2 of the 3 games though.

ASC 4/9 Updates:

HSU 6, McMurry 2
SRSU 6, Howard Payne 3
Belhaven 4, LeTourneau 0
Mary Hardin-Baylor 5, Concordia-TX 1
UT-Dallas sweeps Ozarks 14-0, (5 innings) 12-1

With those results, SRSU temporarily leapfrogs McMurry for 6th place, UT-Dallas solidifies its' 5th place position, battle for seeds 6-8 is still a dogfight, and Ozarks and Howard Payne need a lot of wins and a lot of help.

3 wins by Belhaven and ETBU each or 2 losses by either SRSU, McMurry, LeTourneau or Concordia-TX and the top 2 squads clinch conference tournament spots. Hardin-Simmons and the Cru look like they should get in, barring unexpected slumps by either squad.

Belhaven                   17-4   .810   25-5   .833
East Texas Baptist   16-5   .762   22-7   .759
Mary Hardin-Baylor   15-6   .714   22-9   .710
Hardin-Simmons   15-6   .714   24-7   .774

Big series coming up this week; Hardin-Simmons vs. Belhaven.  I did not realize HSU was having such a good season.  Remaining matchups:

Belhaven - HSU, Ozarks, UTD  (my predication 7-2)
ETBU - Concordia, UTD, Letourneau  (my predication 7-2)
MHB - Letournea, Sul Ross, Howard Payne (8-1)
HSU - Belhaven, Concordia, Sul Ross (7-2)

Belhaven holds tie breaker over ETBU and MHB
ETBU holds tiebreaker over MHB and HSU
MHB holds no tie breakers
HSU holds tie breaker over MHB

Top 2 seeds advance to 4 team double elimination bracket.  Seeds 3 and 4 will have a play in game in order to reach the double elimination bracket.

American Rivers Conference Mild Upset Alert:

Central-IA sweeps #22 Loras 8-0 *6 innings) and 2-1. (Game 1:  Dutch score all runs in their last 4 at-bats; Megan Doty knocked in 3 runs with a double; Morgan Schaben tossed a 2-hit complete game).

(Game 2:  Megan Stuhr drove in the go-ahead run in the 5th; Loras mounted a 2-out bases loaded 7th inning threat, but Sydni Huisman got Clara Peachey to ground out to clinch the sweep for the Dutch.)

Of the D3 squads yet to get off the schneid on the season, 3 of them (Sarah Lawrence, Old Westbury and Yeshiva) are in the Skyline Conference. At least one of those teams will get a win when they play each other.)

4/26 Update:  It was Old Westbury who got off the schneid first, (that squad has won 5 in a row now). Yeshiva & Sarah Lawrence go at it 4/28 to see who gets out of the Skyline cellar.

9 active D3 squads have yet to win a game.
