Gotta give credit to Union for forcing 4 turnovers.  Lombardo is very talented.   

It's very frustrating to see this SLU team take a huge step backwards after all the progress they've made in recent years.

Union cruises to a 30-6 win.  Defense played lights out - 5 TOs forced, and defensive TD, and held SLU to ~150 yards of offense.  A strong way to start league play.

Congrats to Union win over Larries(30-6)  and Hobart over Engineers(30-0) on making statement wins this week. Also congrats to IC for doing what they had to do against Rochacha. Hobart win was impressive as they shut out the statistically best team in the LL with a defense that has been suspect(Defense and DC were challenged after lousy effort against IC...and they answered the call) . Union win is as huge for Union as it is a bust for SLU. Who would have thought Union would have been tied for first(albeit one league game)? The league is still wide open but right now IC and Union have a clear path...should be a great race...hang on baby...

Watching the Rochester video stream...Union at Rochester. Union safety/punt returner Tucker Newman after muffing a punt early subsequently intercepted a pass and then had a nice punt return. Very sloppy early. No score yet.

RPI had a goal situation against the Bombers, but fumble it on the IC 5.  Bit of a swing here, been largely quiet so far.

Halftime, and not a lot of offense to speak of.  Ithaca currently leading RPI 7 to 0.  Lone TD was on the first drive of the game when Nabi found Vito on a 26 yard touchdown pass.

Both teams have had issues with turnovers: Ithaca has had 2 interceptions while RPI comitted a massive fumble on the IC 5 to end a goal line drive and missed a field goal from 28.  Ithaca with more yards (174 to 142) but RPI holding the ball for a lot longer (almost a 2-1 split in their favor). Defense has also been big on third down: RPI is 3 for 11 while IC is 1 for 4.

Union 14 - Rochester 0 at the half. An interesting game so far by Union safety/punt returner #23 Tucker Newman in all he's had a fumbled muffed punt, a 32 yd punt return and three pass interference calls. Oh yeah, and an interception...Union is scrambling for running backs. First teamer Connor Kinzelmann is hobbled by a bad ankle, 2nd teamed Dereek Khnaizir is out, 3rd option Travis Demby left the game early. That leaves brothers Brett and Alex Wa!ller taking carries. I hope they all are available next week.

Ithaca's first drive of the 2nd half sees them get to the RPI 13 before stalling out.  Bombers go for a 30 yard field goal... which is blocked.  Kick was too low.

RPI's 9 quarter scoreless streak comes to an end.  After a big 33 yard play that got them to the IC 7, 2 plays later Marinopoulos finds an open Ackerman in the end zone.  Extra point was good and things are level.

EDIT- And Nabi is intercepted for the 3rd time today on a pass to no one but the defense.  RPI now iwth the ball in Ithaca territory at 11:55 left.

Union takes a 14-0 lead into the 4Q.  Union's D has played very strong, but tons of mistakes and penalties, plus an anemic run game, have mostly kept U of the scoreboard.  Still very much a game...
