Kudos to the Bombers for getting it done. The young Dutchmen came apart in the 4th quarter turning the ball over on three straight possessions. I didn't forsee the Union offense not scoring a TD. This game was very similar to last year's game which was also at Butterfield. Not to sound like sour grapes but LL schedulers didn't get it right when they sent the Dutchmen to Ithaca two years running. The new team in the league should have been in "Shocktown" this week. Union only has four home games. Someday Union will win at Butterfield.

Congrats to Ithaca on the win today...it looked like Union lost their cool at times but the refs were typical D3 refs and certainly showed it......It looks to me that RPI is peaking at the right time and personally, after seeing Union today...I would have to give RPI the edge next week...but in a traditional rivalry....anything is possible.....

The LL schedule doesn't revolve around Union.  Union had 3 home Leage games this year, Ithaca had 2.  I'm assuming that's the balance the league wants.  Last years games were non league and don't really have anything to do with this year.  Union having 4 home games was their own fault, not the leagues.

Why did Union schedule three of their four OOC games on the road?

Bombers798891

The issue with union's schedule was that, of their five conference opponents THIS season, they played four on the road LAST year. So the only solution was make Union go somewhere two years in a row, or give them 4 of 5 conference games at home. There's no real fair solution there

So onto Union/RPI. Here's what I can't shake. Of the Bart/RPI/Union/IC quartet, all those games were pretty close late. Except RPI getting whipped by Hobart 30-0. I don't know why that makes me think Union is going to win, but it does.

Certainly anything can happen Bombers and dlip too has a similar sense. With that being said RPI seems to be really getting it together and it will be interesting to see how the young Dutchmen respond to being really shut down today at Butterfield.

Dlip will have to think about this one. However, with the U being in the position to be prevent their arch rival (from a clearly inferior institution) from winning the league title, having the opportunity to finish 8-2, as well as to get to play another game...this may be enough to propel the Dutchmen to victory.

Union is a good football team. Ithaca's inspired play today made the Dutchmen uncomfortable and unable to execute their offensive game plan. Ithaca made Union ineffective today. RPI will certainly have the ability to do the same. We shall see if those buttheads (dlip kids he kids...) over in Troylet can do the same.

Ithaca scores on the opening drive of Cortaca, a quick drive of 65 yards in just 4 plays ending with a Gladney 28 yard touchdown reception. Bombers miss the extra point on a kicker slip.

13:43 in the 1st- Cortland 0 Ithaca 6

BomberJeff

Ithaca makes it 2 touchdowns in their 2 opening possessions.  They take the punt and drive down again, this time for 62 yards, and ending in the 2nd TD pass from Nabi to Gladney from 4 yards out.  IN ADDITION, 2 plays earlier, Cortland corner Max Jean was ejected from the game for targeting.

Another missed extra point with another slip.  Kicker has slipped twice and 2 different IC running backs have slipped already as well in this game.  7:25 left in the 1st- Cortland 0 Ithaca 12.

Pretty sure Jean was ejected a few weeks ago vs Fisher for the same thing...

Cortland gets a great kickoff return to the 50 and drives on from there, ending with a Tripodi 3 yard run to get the Red Dragons on the board.  The extra point is missed now on the other end: both kickers are 0 for 3 on the point after already today.

4:52 in the 1st: Cortland 6 Ithaca 12.

Once again, Bombers take the ball and drive it right down the field, ending with th e3rd TD pass from Nabi, this time to Yule from 18 yards out.  THIS TIME, the Bombers opt to go for 2 and Nabi finds Vito in the corner of the end zone.

3:25 left in the first- Cortland 6 Ithaca 20.

EDIT: I'm just going to modify because the pace of this game is insane.  Cortland gets intercepted in their own half and Nabi makes it his 4th TD pass of the game, this time to Winslow from 18 out.  We have the first good extra point of the day as well.

14:53 left in the half- Cortland 6 Ithaca 27.

BomberJeff

Ithaca adds one more touchdown late in the first half with Nabi connecting to Zazzara.  Wahid Nabi throws 5 touchdowns in the first half for the Bombers.  HALFTIME- Cortland 6 Ithaca 34.

Meanwhile, Union has a 1 point lead at halftime 14-13 over RPI.

unionpalooza

Union leads RPI 14-13 at the half.  RPI came out on fire and went up 10-0 quickly, and has run the ball well. But in the 2Q the Dutchmen figured out they could air it out, taking the lead on a 63-yarder to Griffin Beal.  Anyone's game in the second half.
