Meanwhile, Utica just had a 32 yard field goal to end regulation blocked by RPI.  They are going to OT tied at 17.

Sounds like blown coverage and Andrew Vito has all day to make the catch for a touchdown.  Destroyed on a post route.

Ithaca leads 14-13, 12 minutes to go.

RPI gets it first in the first OT, gets nothing, and sees the 42 yard field goal miss.

Utica gets 1 first down and a little more, 25 yard field goal to win it... and it goes wide right.

On to the 2nd OT.

Ithaca gets 1st and goal on the 8 yard line but can't get into the end zone.  They decide to go for it on 4th and goal from the 2 and the pass is incomplete.

Ithaca up 14-13 with 4:15 to go.

EDIT: MEANWHILE...  Utica gets the ball first in the 2nd OT, doesn't get much from it, but makes the 37 yard field goal.  RPI takes over at that point, does get a 1st and goal on the 9, but can only get as far as the 5.  They take the 22 yard field goal and its good.

On to the 3rd OT: Utica 20 RPI 20.

RPI just kicked a FG to get to OT3. Had 3 shots from the 5. They have not played well once again. They are tough and don't give up, but there's just something missing. Not sure they are the team I expected before the season.

Update from Springfield...A tale of 2 quarters. Springfield gets out to a 10-0 lead helped by Union turnovers and penalties. Then the turning point. Springfield QB Chad Shade scrambling for a 1st down is hit and fumbles. He's hurt and has not returned. Union unleashes it's. passing game...they can't cover Andre Ross Jr....and the. Dutchmen respond with 17 unanswered. points. 17-10 Union at the half.

Alfred tries to get forward, but it was a bit sloppy, and they have turned it over on downs.

Ithaca now trying to run out the clock, 2 minutes to go.

RPI missed a FG, penalty called. Got another shot. Hit it. 23-20 RPI Utica ball. As Bob has said 4000x, 'good game'.

RPI picks off Utica. Game over. Ugly. But another W.

Can't let a team off, even once.  Utica gets nailed for that one penalty and that was it.  Field goal flipped from missed to made and then the INT to end it.  RPI survives 23-20.

Meanwhile, Ithaca with 3rd and goal... and Issac D'Haiti punches it in.  Bombers extra point is good, and its an 8 point game with 1:09 to go, 21-13, and no timeouts for the Saxons.

Congrats to RPI. That was quite a crazy game and dlip just went back after watching the first 3ish quarters and saw the RPI interception. dlip feels like RPI could be dominent and break out at any time on offense. It hasn't really come together yet but it feels like it's close. If they can get a bit more consistent on offense dlip thinks they may reach that potential you are talking about Mach. Very happy for RPI getting the W today.

Shade ran absolutely upright and got pummeled. Union has completely dominated since that point. The Union D is very physical. Hopefully the Dutchmen can keep it up. Ross is borderline un-coverable and Bellemy can really throw the ball. The Union O line is consistently giving him just enough time to throw the ball and for Union's three big receivers, Ross, Beal, and Nichols to get separation.

Alfred facing 4th and 10 on the IC 49, and Alfred decides to air it out.  The pass was both 10 yards short of the end zone and ultimately fell incomplete.  Ithaca will run out the clock and take a win home.
