Hobart muffs a punt and RPI gets first and 10 from the Hob 44.

"What a stupid play" calls WEOS' Ted Baker.  TGP agrees.

It would have been a 4-5 yd RPI punt but a Statesman tried to pick it up.

labart96

McCarthy well covered by Kelliher on a 3rd and 2 from the Hob 16.  RPI going for it.  Scruggs gets the carry.  Going to get the chains to check.....

Bart D gets the stop.

labart96

QB Earl and RB Julian in for the Statesmen on this series.

end of 1st qtr.  Bart 3 - RPI 0

labart96

Another fake punt for Vincent who reads an opening and takes off.

1st down Hob - Vella back in and immediately throws an INT (Stutz).

Way underthrown.

Engineers ball on Hob 49 yard line.

Bart D holds.  Finally giving Marlier the ball and just running at the Engineers.  Couple of first downs and the Statesmen offense is driving, but once again RPI holds and Bart punts from the Hob 35 (into the wind).

Vincent fakes and gets another first down!

Couple of weak plays by Bart and Brown sacks Vella for a 7 yard loss making it 4th and 14.

You'd think RPI will either put a "spy" on Vincent at this point, but I don't figure Vincent to attempt a fake with 15 yards to go.  He doesn't.  Downed at 21 yard line.  RPI first and 10.

Kelliher INT!

Returns it to the RPI 11 yard line.  First and 10 Hobart.

Tritten carries for about 2 yards
Vincent overthrown by Vella
3rd down - Vella takes a high snap and takes off for the right.  Ball is near the 2 yd line.
4th down - Bart going for it.  Marlier gets the carry - brings out the chains.....

1st down Hobart!

Marlier TD (8th of the season).  PAT good.

Hobart 10 - RPI 0

5:45 to play in the first half

Hobart 10 - RPI 0 at the Half.

Completely ugly game all around, five turnovers, no passing to speak of for either team, Hobart's had 5 penalties (plus a couple that have been declined), both teams running funky plays (RPI with 3 or 4 unbalanced lines with center and then everyone else, T Vincent has run a couple of successful fake punts).

It's windy, but the bad throws and dropped passes have made the game real sloppy.  Neither Costa or Marlier have gotten going, although Marlier's had a couple of good rushes on normal 1st/2nd down plays (e.g. not 3rd and long draws, or 4th and inches).

Does Kinger believe that timeouts are a hindrance to his coaching style?  He's dropping them like he's making it rain at a strip club.

Kyle O with another Statesmen pick!

Short field Bart - pending the penalty.  On Hobart - unsportsmanlike(? - wtf).

now 3rd and 4 from the RPI 23 (or 22)

pumkinattack

F'ing TD gets called back bc Bart lines up offsides (on O) for the 2nd time today.

labart96

Seriously - how does that happen twice?

pumkinattack

T Baker calls it the "gangs that can't shoot straight".  Totally appropriate.

Next play, R Robinson blows Scruggs up.

Completely agree.  This is one of the worst all around games, Hobart (and probably RPI) have played in a long time.

Just awful.  Thankfully we're ahead.  End of the 3rd qtr - still 10-0.

labart96

If my eyes don't deceive me - WPI is TIED 21 all with Susquehanna?  I think that's at the half.
