RPI gets a 1st and goal from the 4yd line, and go 2yd loss, incomplete, intentional grounding.  4th and goal from the 23yd line.  RPI goes for it and doesn't get it.  SLU dodges a bullet there.

Sounds more like St.L dodged one of those oblong, slow-moving water balloons.

Score stands at 7-0 St. Lawrence at the half.  RPI has had opportunities, but haven't capitalized after going 0-2 in the red zone.

RPI with yet another drive that ends in the red zone as they throw a pick in the end zone after having the ball on the 4 yd line.  SLU with the ball on the 20.

SLU looking good for the Pool A with only Rochester and WPI left on the schedule...

Stlarry

SLU gets the win 14-3 over RPI.  If St. Lawrence can finish out the season, this could be a huge turning point in the program.

Hobart's D has been super weak.

We have to say it.  Vella sucks.  He's as bad, or worse than Birdsall, who's the worst QB since the early 90's, at least.

I also have to say, Ray Martell, despite how much FR sweats him, is a homer joke.  Ted Baker is about 40x better than him.  He's crying about one call from the first half despite the fact that every call has gone to MMA all game.

Obviously I'm furstrated bc Hobart's way better than this team, but the TO's and penalties, some deserved, some super questionable, have all gone towards MMA and it's a one TD game.

Martell sucks though.  Completely sucks.

Congrats to SLU for more or less locking up the LL.  Who would've thought.  All the E8 guys talking trash about Phelps have to acknowledge it's his guys who are getting this done.

Pep never trash talked Phelps. The guy was an outstanding recruiter. His teams always gave AU fits at Canton. He brought good talent to the North Country. But that squad at Canton this year, after their defense settled in and started focusing on making a play, was being molded into a team. Mark Raymond is doing an outstanding job there. Kudos to SLU.

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion of my commentary, but I would like to clarify that my harping on that particular penalty was NOT complaining about the call, but more complaing the action of it.

Immediately after I stated that i did not see the call and It would be impossible to see it from the press box, so I have to give the benefit of the doubt to the refs that they got it right. During halftime, a Hobart parent/supporter said that it was a lucky break and questionable.  I refered to it a few times later in the game and, yes, it was a HUGE play in the first half.  Instead of KP ball on the HOB 20, down 23-13, they go down and score the TD. KP never recovered. If that play goes differently (RE: KP doesn't commit a horrendous penalty), it IS a different game, 20 yards away, only down 10.

And saying that all the calls went against KP is just not true. There is a reason HOB came into the game with the most penalty yards in the conference.
                                             HOB       KP
Penalties-Yards...............    10-83     6-58

Much closer than you make it seem.

Ray Martel

PS. Ted Baker is excellent.
