LL in game updates

Very questionable call by Audino to go for it on fourth on his 38 with over 6 minues to go in the game (IMO).. they give the ball back to the Larries in their territory....why do that when the defense was playing well?Then,  Larries call a low risk fourth down TD pass, as a result and appear to put the game away.. Union players came to play today , but Larries withstood the assaut and took advantage at the end of the game to make it 42-23...ouch. . A great game despite the score..... Larries aren't as good as I thought and Union was a solid team today.

Hobart fighting to hold on against Merchant Marine.... Hobart not as good as some may think and Merchant Marine may surprise in league play.

Because they'd gone 5-18 in their past 23 games, and when that's the state of your program, you don't give up the ball when there are six and a half minutes to go and you're down 12, staring at 0-4?

But the score was 28-23 at the time and Union had forced the Larries to 4 consecutive 4 down possessions....plenty of time with almost 7 minutes left.....With one more short SLU possession, Union would have had 3-4 minutes to score...going for it was desperate and Audino did not give the defense the chance to help win a winnable game...even the Union announcers were surprised...they were also surprised at how competitive Union was against SLU up til that point

I stand corrected on the score. Mis-read the box score. And that does change the math a bit.

That said, I still like the call. Given where Union is as a program, I think they need to be more aggressive, not less. You only need a yard, and down five, Union doesn't technically need a touchdown on that drive, which gives them a bit more freedom in terms of playcalling.

If you punt it away, even if you get the quick stop, now the offense pretty much has to get the touchdown, which makes puts a lot more pressure on the offense.

I can certainly see the other side of it, but I think when you're winless, and you're the underdog, playing at home, take your shot.

Respectfully agree to disagree, and since they went for it and didn't get it...I have the advantage of 20/20 hindsight...Monday morning QB..my best day of the week.

Union down 7-0 1st quarter

Springfield 14-Union 0 at the half.  The story so far is Union's inability to run the ball and Springfield just doing it's thing on the ground.  Rushing stats Spr. 32 for 186 yds.---Union 19 for 63 and 28 of that came on the 1st play(QB keeper). Union's RBs have carried 15 times for 20 yds!!! Yikes!  Very disappointed in O lines effort and play call.  So what else is new?  It has to get a lot better or Union will be 0-5.

St. Lawrence up 7-0 at half time. Neither offense able to generate sustained drives. A couple first downs here and there, but the defenses have been dominant for the most part.
